Chapter 12 - 5:00 PM, Out of the box

Alixis was left in a situation where he was supposed to deal with chaos, constantly running a hand across his hair every few minutes.

"Isn't it better to confess this to the cops like any other person?" he spoke to himself, standing up straight and looking at the man laying lifeless. He looked at his uniform and saw a few stains of blood on it, realizing he could easily go to jail with such a clear evidence of murder.

He looked around the designless alleyway, most likely abandoned judging by the amount of crates and old furniture that residents piled up around here. His main concern―or maybe his consequence of his actions― was either hiding the body inside the dumpster or reporting it to the police. At first, he attempted to carry the body but immediately dropped it realizing that it was too heavy.

His phone rang in his bag. Alixis left the body there and quickly took his phone, attending the call.

"hello?"

"dude, you didn't come to school?" his friend darien hushed on call, the distant noises of the teacher taking lessons giving away that he was in class.

Alixis was more conscious on the background noise rather than his friend's question, "quit talking in class. call me back once you're done, i'll fill you in later." he scolded and cut the call in an instant. He was left raking his hair a few times and finally braced himself to call the police. The call rung for a short time before it was attended.

"hello?"

"How may i help you?"

"There's a site of murder at the third alleyway from the main street, please hurry."

"Okay, stay where you are." The call had cut.

Alixis looked relieved, then rummaged through his bag and wore a hoodie over his blood stained shirt. he adjusted it to make it unnoticable, fixing his hair slightly and throwing the knife over a wired fence, making sure to wipe the knife handle with a piece of cloth before doing so.

His mind lingered constantly, sweat beading around his forehead. he was left nibbling his nails, walking back and forth in tension.

He once thought something bizzare.

"this generation likes those 'psychopathic killer' personalities right? should i just keep this attitude??"

Yet his heart never deviated from Rinae.

Soon, A crowd started hoarding the alleyway as the cops were investigating the grotesque body. By the police's knowledge, a murder site in these unruffled alleyways were pretty much uncommon.

At one point, Alixis knew he had messed up by slipping out of his persona, making him regret his decision over and over again.

He started recalling the times where he would watch his father annihilate business moles mercilessly in front of his eyes, at a young age. The feeling of warm, fresh blood splashing across his skin crossed his mind, the same feeling he felt while killing the man named nolan.

One of the policemen approached alixis, scanning him from head to toe as he started enquiring, "Do you know this man?"

Alixis answered in a steady, relaxed manner, "No. but I-"

The cop cut him off unintentionally, "How did you know he was here?"

Alixis froze, delaying his response than usual, "I heard someone scream in here, so I rushed inside out of curiosity." he lied effortlessly.

"Really? alright then." The cop nodded, having no interest in taking responsibility on the murder, planning to hand it over to someone else.

Time passed. The crowd initially died down, leaving only the cops and forensic medics in the scene.

Alixis left as well, not willing to be interrogated further. His brows furrowed in stress, but it wasn't about the police and the murder. The blood-stained shirt he threw in the trash was left untouched and there wasn't any other spare shirt to wear to school.

"Going to find a shop for this exact shirt would be a hassle..." he grunted to himself.

The sky at four dimmed to a bright mix of gold and blue, followed by grey clouds that gave a spectacular look. The streets were filled with the sounds of engines and car horns, with every driver waiting to finally return home by the end of work.

While alixis felt like the minority who'd go home after commiting murder like some monotonous task.

He never questioned, about such a ridiculous combat skill for an ordinary person like him, or so he wished he was. No ordinary person would have an insane businessman father who'd kill for work and stab his mother, but he longed for the entire story.

He often imagined being omniscient.

If he was that knowledgable, he wouldn't have to study for any tests. He would remember every single conversation he had spoken down to nonsense. He would be relieved from the curse of being forgetful. He can do everything on time without forgetting about it. He would remember every detail of his close ones, their birthdays, hilarious moments, sad moments, their expressions, and a lot.

But then, omniscience is a curse itself. One becomes too knowledgable to the point people depend on them. Why would he grieve knowing how drastically a person changed from how they were to the last detail? If he were that serious, why would he have use of other people's information? Why should one suffer knowing they cannot change anything from the past?

Neither Alixis knows how many times he had regret not acting first back then.

Now why such thoughts?

Wouldn't alixis feel uncomfortable?

He's just fifteen, he'd want to enjoy life without being too knowledgable. Even knowledge could kill a person.

And Rinae herself lives her life worry-less, doing her work with love and caring for Ryxin with affection.

She watches alixis entering into the café with that bright, glowing expression on his face, the look of someone finally getting their reward after a long day.

His words mouthed without needing to process, "my usual, rinae." He smiled, hands intertwined on the counter as he leaned forward at a fair distance. Watching his favourite person felt more pleasing than anything else.

Even guileless people can't control cruelty nowadays, what a pity.
