Chapter 9 - Part 9

"Stay down..." Mark said as he landed on the green one. Though from the angry look expression on the creatures face he didn't think that would happen.

Mark drew his fist back and punched him as hard as he could. He punched him so hard that he fractured his own hand. The result was the creatures jaw was shattered and he swallowed his teeth, but right in front of him he started to heal and it seemed he was only getting angrier. 'Ah fuck...' Mark thought before the green monster grabbed him and roared as it started slamming him into the ground. Mark kicked his hand off and tried to fly back but the green giant jumped on him and started slamming his fists into him again and again.

Mark had never really been hurt after they'd gotten his powers, but honestly right now he could say that it hurt. It hurt as much as it did when he sparred with Ted Grant when he was 13. Whatever this creature was it was just as strong as he was, and yet it seemed to be getting stronger.

"Don't forget about me!" A creature roared as he slammed into the hulk slamming his head into the ground. Mark wasn't able to rest for a moment though as their fight was leading them to people who had yet to escape. Despite his bloody state and pained body he zoomed toward them, sliding under both creatures, and grabbing two of the civilians and tossing them off to the sidewalk. It would probably hurt them, but at the moment the alternative was being squashed.

Mark then kicked the abominations knee which gave the hulk the chance to uppercut the creature. He was about to be sent flying but Mark caught him by the leg and slammed him into the hulk. Before spinning around horizontally and kicking them both further into the ground. The abomination roared and head butted the hulk before slamming his elbow into Mark.

Mark managed to catch it, which was good as if he hadn't he would've just been impaled by one of the bone protrusions. "You... where did you get such power," the abomination asked as he moved up off hulk.

Mark who was being pushed back against a wall while holding the creatures elbow could only shrug. "I guess you got the short end of the deal," he jabbed.

"A god is a god," he roared before pressing it even further. However paying attention to Mark was a folly as the Hulk got up from behind him and hit him in the back of the head before trying to choke him. At the same time Mark snapped off the bone which made the abomination roar, Mark then stabbed it into his chest then raised his legs up and kicked both of them across the street where they burst into a courtyard. Mark flew after them but, the abomination slammed a light pole into him sending him off course and into the Hulk who grabbed him and smashed him against the ground before spinning around and throwing him into the air.

Both these creatures were crazy strong and their healing and durability made them walking tanks. Mark had a few broken ribs and a broken shoulder; he didn't feel like counting the brakes and features in his face. Stopping himself from falling he floated there, only to see a helicopter come in closer and try to kill the abomination with a chain gun. Mark started flying toward them, but as he did the abomination managed to damage the helicopter and it started to crash. Mark flew towards it urging himself to go faster, he managed to catch it before it slammed into a building. He then set it down in the same courtyard he'd just been thrown out of. Ripping the door off the hinges he looked inside. "Everyone alright in here," he asked.

"Thanks to you son," an older man with a moustache in a military uniform said. As he turned his head he saw that both creatures were fighting again, before he could rejoin however he was grabbed by the arm.

"Please you have to help him!" A woman said desperately.

"I'm doing my best... it isn't easy fighting two hulking monsters you know," Mark replied.

"No I mean the green one, you have to help him! He's on our side," she said explaining herself.

Mark raised an eyebrow before looking at the destruction around them. "He has a funny way of showing it," he stated.

"She's telling the truth I'm afraid... the green one is an ally," the older man said.

Mark nodded. At least it would make it a bit easier if he only had to fight one of them. He zoomed off towards them, the abomination had hulk pinned against the wall so Mark aimed for his legs hitting the backs of both of them forcing him to kneel. Hulk took advantage of this and headbutted him before peppering him with multiple blows that shook the courtyard. The abomination tried to fight back but Mark grabbed his arm which allowed the Hulk to keep on slamming his fists into him.

Mark added to this hitting him in the side barely giving him any room to breathe. Eventually the Hulk roared and sent a powerful punch into the centre of his chest and launched him backwards across the courtyard. The green monster then looked at Mark with an angry expression. Mark raised his hands up. "It was an honest misunderstanding, I didn't know you were a friend," he said.

This didn't seem to make the Hulk any happier, but at least he didn't attack him. They were both then drawn to the abomination who roared again lifting several chains that had weighted metal bells on the ends. The Hulk charged towards him getting hit as the other monster swung it towards him. Mark managed to fly through all of them and the connect a punch straight towards the nominations chest. 'I need to end this now,' Mark thought to himself.

Mark started channelling his inner monster and started throwing fist after fist at the creature beneath him, dodging when he tried to counter and then continuing his pummelling. "RAAAAAH!" The abomination roared, but Marks speed and power were unreal and he was breaking bones faster than they could be healed. Mark sensed the Hulk charging behind him and so he flew up into the sky just in time to see.

"HULK SMASH!"

The creature roared as he brought both his fists down on the abomination. The entire courtyard shattered and the buildings in the area shifted. But that wasn't the end as Mark had continued flying up and now he shot back down. He was very tempted to call out Mark Smash, but knew he'd probably regret it for the rest of his life if he did. The Hulk seemed to be aware of what he was doing and moved out of the sway just in time to see Mark make contact feet first into the creature.

This made the buildings closest to them shift again with the one in the courtyard actually starting to list. Meanwhile after the smoke cleared he could see the monster in a large crater, his body looked like it had been turned into past, bone had exploded out of his skin and there was a thick sludge that looked like his blood everywhere. Mark sighed in relief that it was over, his body hurt more than it ever had. He just wanted go to sleep.

"High five?" Mark said to the Hulk who was stood growling next to him.

He did not receive a high five.

Mark then turned to the helicopter and watched as they all got out now that it was safe. The woman ran straight over to the Hulk while the older man walked over to him.

"Thank you for saving us son and protecting Harlem from that monster," he said.

"I'm General Ross, and I'd very much like if we could speak to each other again," the man said. He had just seen someone capable of taking down the Hulk, not only that but he could fly as well. He needed to know if this was able to be harnessed or if he was the result of someone else's Super Soldier Project.

Mark took the man's card. "I'll see you later General, right now I need a shower," he replied as he launched himself into the air and headed home. He looked back one more time only to see that the Hulk had jumped off in the opposite direction.

...

It didn't take long for Mark to get home, he was only glad that Colleen wouldn't be here today as she said she was visiting a friends house in New Jersey so he could wash up and not explain the blood. As he walked into his apartment he could immediately tell something was off, but he didn't do anything and decided to head to the bathroom and wash the blood off and bandage his wounds.

When he walked out of the bathroom he was greeted by a man he hadn't seen before standing by the window.

"It's about time we meet Mark Greyson."

Mark narrowed his eyes as he looked over to the man dressed in leather with an eyepatch. "Who're you supposed to be."

"I am Director Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D... and you shouldn't be here."
