"alright nova" I muttered to myself as I paced back and forth "you just gotta save a kid who you couldn't beat in a fight from his crazy mom who's probably ten times stronger than him. No biggie. Oh who am I kidding. I've got nothing" I slumped against the wall in defeat. Still I have to do something. I made a promise.
My thoughts were cut short by a doctor rushing past. Curiously I peaked through the window to see him treating a deathly pale boy, around my age.
"The boy barely has any blood left" the doctor said gravely "I'd say it's the work of a vampire"
"It's that awful girl isn't it" the mother cried into her husband's arms "oh why did she have to target our boy" her husband held her close, trying his best not to cry.
"That's right" I muttered to myself "that nameless boy death is what sparks a hatred towards Sirius older sister. It's the straw that broke the camels back" but looking at him he doesn't look like he's been attacked. In fact he looks anemic. I knew cause I used to suffer from it.
"Alright it's settled" I told myself firmly "I'm going to save that boy and change Sirius future!" Now I just need a way to transfer blood to him.
....................
"Alright this should do it" I stood back proudly as I admired my makeshift IV bag. It took me all day but it's finally complete. With a pep in my step I skipped to the boys house. To my surprise I saw Sirius sneaking in.
"What is he up to?" I muttered to myself as I followed him.
As I entered the room, silent as a mouse I saw Sirius standing over the boy's bedside. I saw a flash of metal as he raised a dagger over his head-
"Stop!" I grabbed his arm.
"Nova?" His eyes widened in surprise before turning into a scowl "get off me. If he dies of his illness then Ingrid will be blamed"
"And how are you going to explain the knife in his chest?" I hissed.
"I'll blame you" he didn't miss a beat "everyone hates you anyway. What's one more reason"
"Why you jerk!" I elbowed him in the chest, causing him to drop the knife "now listen here!" I grabbed him by the shirt "I have a way to save this boy. He just needs a blood transfusion"
"He's anemic" his eyes widened in realisation as he looked over at the sleeping boy "How'd I not realise it sooner?"
"Yeah that's right so stop being so reckless" I pushed him away roughly before checking him over.
"You'll need a blood sample" Sirius spoke up "it's important to know what blood type he is or the body will reject the blood transfusion"
"You really know your stuff" I blinked in amazement.
"Well I was really into medical studies at school. I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up-" he stopped before staring at the ground nervously, knowing he said too much.
"I knew it" I leaned forward excitedly "you're from the real world too!"
"Too? So you also got transported here after you died" he mumbled to himself before looking away "I don't want to talk about my past life. Truth is I wasn't a good person"
"Well I could guess based on the fact you were willing to stab a person and frame me" I smirked teasingly. He turned to me with an angry pout "sorry sorry" I laughed "It's fine, I don't want to talk about my past life either. After all, I was a total loser that did nothing with his life!"
"Well that's depressing" he muttered before pulling out a blood sample "there" I watched in disbelief as he tasted the blood "he's type B"
"You can tell based on the taste!?" I blinked in disbelief.
He nodded "Sirius's family are descendants of vampires so he has a keen sense for anything blood related" he stood up "I'll do some investigating. Once I find a suitable candidate I'll let you know"
"Thank you" I smiled greatfully as we parted ways. I feels good to finally find an ally.
..................
"Mmm it looks so good" I drooled at the sight of the meat bun. As I picked it up to take a bite-
"I found someone" Sirius grabbed my arm, forcing me to drop my precious lunch "we don't have a lot of time. Let's hurry"
"My meat bun" I sobbed as he dragged me away.
..................
"A mystery cure?" The father of the child stared at us with hatred in his eyes "how dare you try and feed us false hope. It's despicable!"
"It's no lie sir" Sirius said ernestly "If you just give us a portion of your blood-" he was cut off by a cup being thrown at him.
"Like I'd give my blood to the likes of you" he snapped "it's your kind that put my boy in this situation!" His hate filled eyes turned their attention to me "and how dare you show your face here demon boy. I bet you're loving this aren't you? You came here to laugh at the father who about to lose the most precious thing in his life!"
"Are you kidding" I snapped "I've never enjoyed anyone's suffering! You all just made up your minds about me the moment I was born!" I stood up angrily "you wanna know why I'm here? Cause I don't want him to die. I don't want Sirius's family to be wrongly blamed. Please sir, you've already exhausted every other options. What's the harm in trying our idea?"
He paused for a moment, his expression conflicted before turning to us "alright. Against my better judgement I'll place my faith in you"
A smile lit up both our faces before setting up the blood transfusion. Okay the hard part's over. Now I just have to pray we didn't leave it too late.
