Chapter 150 - CH 150 : Define Ātman?

Dende's soft footsteps echoed as he stepped inside. "Rudra," he called gently. "You've been meditating for hours. How do you feel now?"

Rudra smiled faintly but did not rise. "I'm fine, Dende. Physically, I feel no exhaustion. But spiritually…" He exhaled, "I'm struggling to realize something. Something vital."

Dende blinked, confused. "Struggling? You? What could possibly be difficult for someone like you?"

Rudra chuckled softly, opening his eyes fully now. "Let me ask you something, Dende."

He leaned slightly forward. "Tell me — who are you?"

Dende froze, taken aback. "W-what kind of question is that, Rudra?"

"Answer it as you truly feel," Rudra said calmly, his tone both kind and piercing. "Who are you?"

Dende hesitated for a few seconds, then answered the obvious. "I'm… Dende, a Namekian."

Rudra smiled faintly, shaking his head. "That's your name, and your form. But that's not what I asked. I didn't ask what you're called, or where you come from. I asked — who are you?"

Dende blinked rapidly, realizing he couldn't find the right words. "But… if I don't tell you my name, how else can I define myself? Don't you think a name gives identity to what we are?"

Rudra chuckled, his voice calm yet filled with meaning. "For most people, yes. A name, a birthplace, a form — they believe these define the self. But my question isn't about your body or your title. I'm speaking of something deeper… something within. The Atman. The soul."

He closed his eyes, resting his hands on his knees. "Your name tells me you're a Namekian. Your voice tells me you're kind. But neither tells me what your soul is. And that, Dende, is my current struggle. I can feel my Atman — faintly, like a pulse beneath the surface — but I cannot know it. I have no path to understand it completely."

Dende listened, his expression softening with awe. He had known many warriors, many seekers of power — but Rudra's path was different. His quest was not for victory, but for truth.

After a long silence, Dende finally spoke. "You said you can feel your Atman. Then perhaps you can also define it — just as one can describe air. We cannot see air, yet we can feel its presence and describe its effect. So if you can feel your soul, maybe you already know it — even if you don't realize it yet."

Rudra took a deep breath, gazing out toward the distant green sky. "That's a beautiful thought, Dende. But the Atman is unlike any external element. Air is outside us — it moves through and around us. The soul, however… resides within. It is us. That makes it harder to separate and define. To know it, I must go beyond even thought — and that's where every meditation breaks."

Dende smiled faintly. "Maybe the problem is that you're trying too hard to separate it. Maybe the Atman doesn't need to be found — only accepted."

Rudra glanced at him with mild surprise. The young Namekian's words echoed deeply within him.

Before he could respond, a voice from outside called out in the Namekian tongue — someone was looking for Dende.

"Oh, it seems I'm being called," Dende said softly, standing up. "Rudra, please take care of yourself. I hope… you'll find your answers soon."

He smiled and turned to leave. The round door slid open, and Dende stepped into the bright light of Namek's twin suns, disappearing into the peaceful hum of the village.

Left alone, Rudra closed his eyes once more. Silence returned.

In the distance — beyond the stars — Cell soared through space, leaping from one solar system to another, his fury carving through worlds. Stars dimmed at his passing.

Back in the Sacred World of the Kais, Shin and Kibito watched.

Shin's expression turned grave. "It has begun… Cell's chaos is spreading. But even chaos follows destiny."

Kibito clasped his hands behind his back. "Then the stage is set. Let us see what fate has chosen for this mortal — Rudra."

As the crystal dimmed, its light faded into the endless horizon of divine clouds.

And on Namek, beneath the twin suns, Rudra whispered in silence — half prayer, half vow:

"Until I find my Atman, I cannot find my true strength. But when I do… even the stars will know peace."

The wind carried his words across the glowing plains. The universe held its breath.
