Chapter 720 - Chapter 199 – Departure

[2009 – October]

Quietly preparing some clothes for Jean and myself, I kept in mind what she liked to wear while picking out those that I knew she found the most comfortable.

Though that was just for her outerwear as I couldn't help but place the underwear that I found the sexiest and most alluring in the small bag that I had prepared.

I was sure that she wouldn't be mad at me for this, especially not when I planned to 'show' her exactly what kind of effect it had on me when her gorgeous form was hidden by nothing but a few pieces of flimsy silk.

Smiling a bit mischievously to myself, I glanced at the lithe figure that was hidden under our shared blanket, gentleness replacing the mischief, the flaming locks and flawless features stirring up an intense possessive desire in my heart, the urge to protect her simply overwhelming.

It took me a few moments to tear my gaze away from the half-sleeping beauty after which I silently left our bedroom and moved to the kitchen.

Preparing a few sandwiches, some fruits, and watered-down juice for the road and placing it all in a cooler bag along with three cooling elements, two slender arms suddenly wrapped themselves around my bare upper body while I felt Jean rest her head in between my shoulder blades.

"I thought that you wanted me to wake you up with a kiss?", I questioned quietly as I basked in the wonderful feeling of her fingers brushing over my chest and abdominal muscles, retracing the contours of my muscles.

"I couldn't help it.", my lovely redhead whispered in response, her voice having a sleepy yet longing undertone, "I missed you."

I felt her lips leave a light kiss on my shoulder after she said those words, tender affection rumbling through my indestructible physique.

Turning around, I saw Jean looking up at me with sleepy green eyes, loving dependence shining in them. Smiling softly, I kissed her lips to belatedly fulfill my promise before picking her up and carrying her into our shared bathroom.

Like a blazing furnace, heat was emitted from her love's form, his seemingly endless strength perfectly contained in his perfect physique.

Her arms wrapped around his strong chest, her head resting against his wide back, Jean soaked up this warmth while a feeling of indescribable comfort flowed through her body.

She had tried to rest a few more minutes after the alarm had woken them up and Elijah had left her in their bed but without his warmth and presence, she found it very hard to fall asleep again, every fiber of her being yearning for him to be with her.

In the first place, Jean hardly understood how she could have ever fallen asleep without Elijah by her side at this point in time, even though they had only been together for a few months.

She knew that their bond was definitely uncommon but that didn't worry her.

Her lithe fingers caressing her love's chest, she inhaled his irresistible scent which reminded her of sandalwood and bitter chocolate as well as something much darker and impossibly tempting, something that was just wholly unique.

Her own blazing mental presence approached her love's, unhesitatingly opening herself up without the slightest attempt to protect the fragile beauty of her mind.

It was an almost suicidal action for any telepath and one that no one would willingly take under normal circumstances but Jean's trust in Elijah wasn't something that could be explained with words.

And as if proving her right, what welcomed her flaming mental presence was a dark sun of immeasurable size, most of which was hidden behind an unbreachable barrier of black mist.

Incomparably gentle strands of dark light received her lovingly, wrapping themselves around her protectively and forming an indestructible cloak of darkness that pulsed with deep love.

"I thought that you wanted me to wake you up with a kiss?", her love's voice reached her ears with a whisper while she was still immersed in the dark glow of Elijah's affection.

Her heart clenching painfully under the weight of her own emotions for the young man that she was hugging from behind, Jean responded quietly while she pressed herself more closely against Elijah.

"I couldn't help it. I missed you.", she said while leaving a light kiss on his shoulder.

Feeling him turn around, she let up on her embrace for a moment before looking up into her love's deep green eyes, the shadows in their depths swirling and contracting with hints of unending desire while mixing with the soft glow of tenderness.

Elijah wasn't a particularly expressive person that carried his emotions on his face. More often than not, he refused to show his worries and thoughts openly.

His eyes though, when he looked at her, truly acted as a window into his soul, allowing her to see his joys and sorrows, his dreams and burdens.

She could see the dense nebulous Darkforce and feel its dark instincts while at the same time sensing Elijah's desire to reach out and experience worlds besides his home planet as if he was searching for some deeper meaning.

All this though paled in comparison to the love that shone in his gaze when he looked at her.

Smiling softly, his lips fell on hers and Jean couldn't help but wrap her arms around his neck when he picked her up and carried her to their shared bathroom, her face buried in the crook of his neck where she sleepily left behind a light kisses while his wonderful scent continued to tickle her nose.

Jean followed Elijah's lead without any resistance as he placed her down on the tall bathroom stool that they had bought for convenience's sake.

She followed his every move through the mirror with her bright eyes as he took her toothbrush and toothpaste, preparing them for her to use with a few quick hand movements, before passing the toothbrush to her while he grabbed a comb and started to unravel her flaming flocks after a night of sleep.

Elijah was careful yet unhesitating as he combed her hair gently while she brushed her teeth, their gazes finding each other every so often in the mirror at which point she blew an air kiss in his direction while he smiled softly and winked at her cheekily.

When she finished brushing her teeth and washed her face with a small cloth, she aided her love in taming her fiery mane, tying it up in a somewhat loose ponytail, after which Elijah carried her back into the bedroom and they helped each other get dressed, their hands and lips often wandering from their supposed targets.

His right hand holding her left hand, his other hand grabbing the bags, Elijah called Arya to his side before they left their rooms and quietly walked through the Hellion Mansion to the underground parking lot.

Approaching one of the cars that were prepared for the Hellions to use, a dark-grey German product that functioned as a convertible as far as Jean could tell, her love helped her into the passenger seat and passed the little girl-owl to her as well as a bottle of juice before storing away their bags.

Finally seated in the car himself, he pushed the button that functioned as the ignition before turning to her with a caring light shining in his eyes.

"Ready?", Elijah asked softly, knowing how nervous she was to visit her mother's grave, the imperceptible hints of trepidation not escaping his senses.

Reaching out, Jean caressed his cheek as she answered, her head leaning on the headrest as she looked at him: "As long as you are with me."
