Chapter 27 - Errand Day

Anecus was feeling rather productive this morning, with the recent lessons and training from Red his confidence was bolstered.

"Mom!" Anecus yells running down the stairs from his room. "Can I go into town today, I can do those errands for you!?"

Jane was a rather protective mother, she had hardly let them go into town without her watchful eyes or the protection from Zephyros her wind spirit. It was a big step for her letting them go alone. "Bring Cassia and Naia with you."

Anecus's eyes lit up. "Thank you!" running back up to his room his voice fading threw the walls. "Cassie! wake up mom said we can go!"

Naia peaked one eyes out from the mountain of pillows and with a voice not of a morning person "Go where?" she'd would stay the night on days they had lessons with Jane.

Cassia sitting up wiping the crust for her eyes "he's been begging to go into town for some reason."

Brining his early bird energy into the room "Mom said we all have to go." Naia kicked the blankets off with a huff "uugh!"

----

"and remember..." Jane was about to remind them for the hundredth time but Cassia cut her off "Yes yes! stick together and run at the first sight of trouble!"

Naia elbowed Cassie in the side, "we will be careful we promise...right Ane?"

"Huh!? yeah yeah sure" Anecus was currently secretly counting his the savings he been stashing away from his allowance. Jane eyed him suspiciously.

Walking down main road to the shopping district Naia was curious. "So Ane, what was is it your wanting to bad?"

Anecus the secretive plotter he is. "I wanted to get a gift for mother, doing the errands was just an excuse to get out and get it."

Cassia following a step behind them whispered "tsk goodie tooshoes"

looking over his shoulder "Mhh? what was that?"

taking the lead and snatching the list form Naia "Nothing! lets get this done, we still got homework remember." Anecus winces a little because he has yet to start his.

Leaning over to Naia he asks "Can I copy yours."

Humming in thought Naia thought of something fun. "sure but you'll owe me."

---

They were halfway through the square, balancing purchases when sound of a sharp crack snapped the markets rhythm. A mule had kicked a cart shearing the pin that held a wheel.

Not thinking much of it Naia and Cassia turned to continue their day, but Anecus watched the direction the wheel was hurdling towards and saw a woman with her toddler.

Dropping his bag and dashing in their direction he yells "watch out!" but sadly that was all he could do. He wasn't fast enough, fortunately a broad shoulders man casually stepped Infront of the wheel.

Easily stopping it with his Enhancer strength. Anecus realizing the situation wasn't that serious blushed a little in embarrassment. "Hehe hello uncle Rennen, fancy seeing you here."

"Well if it isn't little Ane, what brings you here?" Rennen says as he sets the wheel down. "I am buying a gift for my mom."

Smiling a little Rennen was jealous, "aahh only if my sweet Naia loved her old man like you do your mother."

Naia's voice called from the side. "Dad!" running up and standing next to Anecus. "What are you doing here?"

Pulling Naia into a big hug "I just got back from helping the new sunflower fields, there was some infestation affecting the roots and they wanted my help."

Absentmindedly roughing up Anecus's hair "Actually on the way back I seen this pond so clear it looked like a mirror and the grass was so soft the wagon almost left without me hah!"

And there it was their short attention spans was now hooked onto a new goal. Looking at the two girls with a face that screamed 'We must go!'

The two nodded in fierce agreement.

Wrapping up today's outing they parted ways with Rennen. "See you at home dad!" Naia said waning.

Anecus putting todays good on his back. "Lets get home, I have homework."

Cassia snickered about to throw a insult at him but a group of young boy's conversation caught her attention. "Hey look, it them." Another "who?" A third pointed "The silver freaks. Jeez the way they look at who along with that hair makes them look eerie."

Cassia felt a pit in her stomach for a moment. 'freaks?' She looked to her brother who had slowed a little in putting on his bag. 'He must have heard it to.'

Walking up to she was about to grab his hand but he turned and grabbed hers. He had the biggest smile, a sun lit smile that insults bounced off of.

"Come one lets get home. I got to help you with that history section remember?" Anecus said wile leading the two home.

"Pft yeah yeah, you and miss history nerds can just do that part for me." Cassia knew he was doing this to make her feel better. 'he's always making me feel better.'

----

It had been a long day for their little legs, Anecus ended up giving Naia a piggyback ride the rest of the way home.

Opening the door to greet them was Red. "How was it, you get everything?"

"Hey dad. I believe so." Anecus said while unceremonious flopping Naia onto the couch. Naia let out a *oof!*

Jane was satisfied they had gotten everything with money to spare. 'mh must have been Cassia.' She felt a little tug on her apron. "what is it Anecus?"

She could see he was hiding something behind his back, 'whet's he got there?' Soon enough her question was answered by her little star holding up a little moon. 'A wrist band?'

Anecus the momma's boy says "I saved up my allowance and got this for you! As a thank you for the lessons."

Jane for whatever reason wanted to cry. Instead she snatched the wrist band and Anecus into a hug and started tickling his ribs and giving him kisses on the face. "why aren't you the thoughtful one, you know I find very fulfilling teaching you three."

She says while putting on the band. "I love it. Thank you."

Anecus escaping from her death grip "Can I get an extra day on the assignment then?" he said while twirling his fingers.

Jane with a knowing smile eyes closed. "absolute not."

"...tsk!"
