Chapter 15 - 15 Everyday Struggles (6)

Looking at his hand again, that was outstretched out to her, "Thank you."

Reaching a hand to his, she unsteadily stood up on one leg leaning against a chair for stability.

With a quizzical look on his face, Marcus spoke in a soft tone to her, "Are you...okay?"

He couldn't see her clearly, but knew something was not right because of her posture. Thinking back to his conversation with the Repairer, he would rather not get caught injuring his apprentice. Who knew what the man would do to him or ban him from getting upgrades or repairs accomplished here.

Azalea wanted to deny it, but at this point she could no longer walk on her leg. Just by feeling alone she knew something was off and looking down she could see that it was worse than the sprain she had previously.

Talking to him without looking him in the eye, she stated plaint, "Yeah, I think it is broken."

Marcus didn't really initially pay attention to what she, and thought at most it was a sprain, "If...wait... it's broken?"

His voice was not loud but not quiet, if it got any louder it would disturb Repairer Chandu in the workshop.

He was doing mental gymnastics, trying to figure out at what angle the hitting the floor and his sword could have broken her ankle.

Not paying attention to anything or anyone, he swung his arms around until finally bringing one up to cover his eyes, trying to blow off steam.

He shouted in a demanding tone, looking Azalea dead in the eyes, daring her to lie to him,"How?!"

She was so confused by the question, how what? How she got here? How she tripped? How she dropped his sword? How she injured her ankle? How she came to be?

It could have been anything he was asking for, but it probably was not directed towards her mere existence in this world.

She kept looking at him, trying to drag a better question out of him, for her to answer or respond to.

With no response coming his way, he sighed as if he carried the weight of the world, "Here take it, but you owe me. Don't think I won't forget this."

He quickly took out a dull red murky potion, and shoved it into her hand, "For a small injury like that drink half."

She stared at the vial in her hand, how was she supposed to drink it?

Turning her face away from him, she took her mask off and tipped the vial towards her mouth drinking half of the potion before putting her mask back on.

The affects were immediate, her ankle felt at peace, and felt better than ever. It was like she had taken a powerful pain killer and a bone cure at the same time.

Turning back to face Marcus, Azalea returned the vial to him.

"Thank you my ankle feels much better."

"Your welcome, but just don't tell your master. Please, Repairer Chandu does the best repairs around here, and I don't want to be banned!"

He was speaking so fast that she barely caught the message he was trying to point across.

Thinking to herself, so the potion was supposed to be a bribe. She didn't have to owe him anything.

"Yes Sir, you are good in my books, do you need anything else? If not you should get going."

Marcus felt offended, here he helped her only to be rudely tossed out the door once she got what she need. He was about to protest, but stopped as she had opened the door and pushed him through.

"It is getting late and you probably want to catch some sleep before the sun rises."

Feeling like a jerk previously, he mentally punched his previous self in the face, " Ah yes, I should get some sleep." He felt like he had judges her to harshly and maybe should stop doubting people so much. The girl was obviously different to other hunters, maybe he should have gotten her name so they could go on a raid together. He could use that as a way to help pay for his materials and repair costs.

He quickly moved to face her and ask a question, only to fave the door slam shut no less than an inch in front of his face.

Breathing in deeply he tried to calm himself down, "Patience, I am a very patient person. I can wait."

Click

Hearing the lock on the door being activated, his eyebrow twitched and his patience snapped. Internally he swore he would be back tomorrow to talk with that girl, while trying to keep a calm face as he walked past all of the hunters in the crowd.

Inside of the room, Azalea sat in a chair and leaned back relaxing into the chair.

Just as she was getting comfortable and drowsy, she felt like she forgotten something.

Her alarm, she needed to adjust her alarm to wake up in time for her class in the morning.

Grabbing her phone she realized she didn't have a charger and her phone would not last the whole night. Her battery was on it's last legs of life, barely hanging on at five percent.

She was going to have to go back to her dorm, she would have to walk past that alley whether she wanted to or not. At least she could run now.

Getting up she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and unlocked the door and left the building shortly after.

Going home, nothing happened. It was quiet, eerily quiet, with not even a cricket's chirp or noise from the wind blowing.

Azalea slowly picked up the pace as she got closer to that accursed alley, finally breaking out in a run as she crossed the entrance. Making a break straight for her dorm building, she ran like her life was on the line till she crossed the doorway.

Feeling the exhaustion slowly run through she half slept, half walked to her room.

She was in and out of conscience, until finally she was in her room plugging her phone in. She plopped down on her bed finally relaxing in the quiet peaceful ambiance of her room.

Blink.
