Chapter 44 - The First Business

After searching along the street full of shops, the sign for the Singing Apple Pavilion came into view.

I heard this place was a hotel and tavern, and several Worker teams used it as their base, with a very good reputation.

But I didn't expect its appearance to be so old; it looked even worse than the inns in E-Rantel. My expectations were a bit too high.

Perhaps the interior decoration isn't bad, Sig comforted himself.

Nabe had already frowned, her beautiful eyes filled with anger. She tried to lower her voice, making her tone sound as calm as possible.

"How can I let Ilay, sir, stay in such a place?"

"Alright, we'll know once we see it." Sig smiled and went in first.

"Since Ilay, sir, said so, then you, little sister, shouldn't have any objections, right?"

Lupusregina quickly got into character, beginning to speak as Reqi, maintaining a smile that gave off a very friendly feeling.

The next second, her tone suddenly changed, her eyes narrowed, transforming from a cheerful and outgoing beautiful young girl into a seductive and enchanting older sister. "If my acting is too poor, I won't be able to toy with more humans."

Nabe finally showed a slight smile, "Lu… Reqi, I understand."

"Don't even get my name wrong, Nabe, little sister!"

Reqi returned to normal in a flash, looking very troubled. Taking advantage of Nabe's inattention, she suddenly hugged her, her fingers wildly moving around her waist.

"Your punishment is a tickle, hehe."

Although Nabe was a doppelganger, her mimicked body still had normal senses. She covered her mouth, trying hard to hold back laughter, making strange whimpering sounds.

Seeing that she had successfully pranked her, Lupusregina became even more mischievous.

Noticing the increasing number of gazes around them, Sig could only intervene, gently patting her hat. "Stop fooling around, let's talk inside."

Lupusregina, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, immediately covered her head, her expression becoming somewhat unnatural, though it didn't seem like she disliked it.

It was then that Sig remembered Lupusregina's race was werewolf. Were there ears under her hat?

The touch was too brief just now; he didn't feel anything.

To answer this question, he really wanted to touch it properly again, but Lupusregina seemed to be on guard, constantly hiding behind Nabe.

It seemed they were going to be Schrödinger's ears. He should ask Beast King Mekong if he had designed ears after all.

Seeing that everyone's designed NPCs were so distinctive, Sig felt a bit envious, similar to the loneliness of everyone having children while he had none.

But spending the data volume on improving daily life wasn't a loss; he was a pragmatist.

Instead of troubling others and ordering NPCs around, it was better to plan ahead and solve problems himself. That was probably his mindset.

He had thought that Nazarick's combat power was already sufficient, and he hadn't decided on a design, so he kept hesitating, never expecting them to use up all the data in the end.

Upon pushing the door open, Sig carefully looked around and found that the interior decoration was actually quite good. Despite the high traffic, the environment was very clean.

He handed Reqi a bag of money, mostly gold coins. Clementine didn't do proper work, so it was almost all Ainz's hard-earned money.

"The task of booking rooms is up to you."

"Alright, Ilay, sir."

Lupusregina understood. This was a test of whether she could integrate into human society, which was a piece of cake.

"Ilay, sir… sir, may I also go with you?" Nabe suddenly asked.

"Why?"

"I just want to learn…"

Sig thought for a moment and finally agreed. He couldn't stop his subordinates from being ambitious, and he also wanted to see if NPCs could grow beyond their original settings.

Finding an empty seat by the window, he sat down to wait for the two to return.

Not long after, people also sat at the table next to him—a man and a woman.

The man was very burly, his arms and body full of muscles, and his expression was very unpleasant, giving off a bad feeling. Sig quickly averted his gaze from the man's face.

Sitting opposite him was a blonde girl, aged between fifteen and twenty, with ear-length short hair, a long iron rod beside her, and a loose cloak draped over her.

Recalling Mare's attire, Sig quickly determined that she was a magic caster.

"Miss Feilt, it's repayment time again. I'm glad you still remember. It's because of people like you who keep their promises that I can complete my work." The man's words were not as kind as they sounded; his tone was very arrogant.

The girl took out a bag of money and said coldly, "40 gold coins should be enough."

The man shook the money bag in his hand and said mockingly, "But Master Feilt borrowed another 100 coins. Out of pity for you, I'll add these to the total. If you can't clear the balance next month, then you'll have to repay 50 gold coins."

"You!" The girl was about to retort, but remembering that she was preparing to leave that home, her mood calmed down. "Take the money and leave. I don't know how you found this place, but if you disturb me again next time, I will never let you off."

"I just asked Master Feilt a little, and he immediately told me. It's really unlucky to be stuck with that family, Miss Ai Xue Ifu Lir Feilt."

Perhaps in a good mood after getting the money, the man's tone was less aggressive than before, but still quite sarcastic. He left after speaking.

Sig saw all of this. No wonder he felt that the girl in front of him looked familiar.

The Worker team named "Four-Eyes" participated in the invasion of Nazarick. They were personally received by Ainz in the arena, and the only magic caster among them who received a painless death was named Ai Xue.

To be honest, Sig strongly disliked loan sharking. He wanted to be a justice enforcer this time, and incidentally, appropriate their money… Oh, no, he meant to carry out a righteous judgment.

And it was only incidental, definitely not the main purpose.

"Do you need help?"

A ripple appeared on Ai Xue's calm face as she looked in surprise at the person who was striking up a conversation with her. "Excuse me, are you speaking to me?"

"My words might have some issues. Do you want to be my first client?"
