Chapter 12: Thunderous Might
Rhodes's appetite was astonishing.
Under the eager gaze of Koala and the other revolutionaries, he quickly devoured the roasted pig, even the head.
"This guy... he's really well-prepared." Koala's mouth twitched, unable to bear the sight.
What kind of foodie was this to even have salt and honey so carefully prepared?
In the center of the room, fishman Hack, with a solemn expression, watched Rhodes's entire execution of the Spiked Boar. He commented, "He's quite strong, and above average for a reserve. I heard his physical fitness was average during the Doriki test, but it looks like he's gotten much stronger this month."
"His swordsmanship is precise, but his experience is clearly lacking. With his strength, there are many ways to easily kill the Spiked Boar, but he chose the most strenuous decapitation."
"But these are just minor flaws,"
Hack said with admiration. "Rhodes's combat awareness is excellent, and he performed very well in battle."
"In this respect, he's much better than his peers."
Listening to Hack's precise and well-reasoned analysis, the Revolutionary Army soldiers in the room nodded in admiration.
"He used to be a doctor, so his mental state is indeed much better."
Koala nodded, but a strange feeling welled up in her heart. It felt like Rhodes chose decapitation simply to drain the blood for barbecue...
"Is that so..."
Fishman Hack suddenly realized, no wonder he was so calm and unreactive.
He was about to say something when his expression suddenly changed.
Koala's expression also changed slightly.
On the surveillance screen, not far from Rhodes, a huge humanoid creature rushed over violently.
The earth shook, and the mountains and forests trembled.
The rocks, trees, and everything along the way were all shattered. Nothing could stop it.
Crack!
The Revolutionary Army saw it clearly. A stone half the size of a house was swatted away by a slap as it passed by, and it was complete chaos.
"He stayed there for too long. The smell of blood attracted this super beast." Someone shouted.
"Do you want to rescue him?" Koala looked at Hack.
"Let's see how it goes. Although this black ape is powerful and can be regarded as a level one boss on this small island, Rhodes is also strong. Even if he can't beat it, he can still handle it. If he really can't hold on, you go."
Hack pondered for a moment and said.
He was a reserve instructor, not a babysitter. He couldn't just send out a rescue at the slightest sign of danger. That would only cultivate a bunch of greenhouse flowers, detrimental to the future.
Meanwhile,
Rhodes, who had just stood up, felt the ground shake and turned in surprise.
He saw a four-meter-tall black ape charging towards him, its terrifying momentum as unstoppable as a tank.
"A big one?"
Rhodes's eyes narrowed slightly, showing solemnity.
This black ape was clearly not on the same level as the wild boar.
If Rez and the other thirty or so reserves from Rhodes's class were to attack together, they would all be slaughtered.
In the sunlight, the black ape's massive, muscular body seemed like steel, brimming with immense power.
It also exuded a strong, bloody odor, as if from years of hunting prey.
Roooaaar!
Reaching a short distance, the black ape took in the bones scattered across the ground, pounded its chest in anger, and roared to the heavens.
"What the hell?"
This baffled Rhodes, as if he had robbed the black ape of its food.
The next moment, the black ape lowered its head, gazing down at Rhodes, its eyes glowing red, a hint of bloodlust and brutality evident.
Whoosh!
The beast was no amateur.
Almost instantly, the black ape charged forward, its speed so swift that the gust of wind it stirred up scattered bones from the ground, sending sand and rocks swirling.
Its massive fist slammed down on Rhodes's head, shattering the very air.
"Get out of the way!" the Revolutionary Army soldiers exclaimed through the surveillance cameras.
But Rhodes, in the field, unexpectedly stood still, neither dodging nor evading. He waited until the wind from the fist blew his hair into the air before suddenly striking with his sword.
Swish!
Blood splattered, a trail of blood forming.
The strength of creatures in this world truly defied common sense.
Rhodes's sword sliced through the black ape's tough fur, then, weakened by layers of muscle, its force diminished, stopping just short of the tough bone.
"The strength is still a little lacking."
Rhodes flew more than ten meters with the help of the force, watching this scene from afar, and shook his head slightly.
A typical swordsman rises from a skilled swordsman, gradually ascending through the ranks. After decades of relentless physical training, their physiques become incredibly formidable. Therefore, after comprehending the Breath of All Things, they can unleash blows that can cleave steel.
But Rhodes was different.
He possessed a realm comparable to that of a swordsman, but lacked the power to match it. That's why he was stopped by the black ape's tough bones.
Roooaaar!
The injury of a slashed muscle was apparently nothing to the black ape. Instead, it fueled its already raging fury, as if provoked by an ant.
While not the strongest in this forest, the black ape was the most arrogant. Its humanoid form gave it incredible agility, allowing it to roam freely throughout the forest.
To be injured by an ant was simply unbearable.
Roooaaar!
The black ape's roar shook the forest, causing pain in Rhodes's ears.
"Shut up!"
he growled, and a chilling aura suddenly rose from his body.
"Lightning mode!"
As Koala and the others watched in disbelief, the young man on the screen suddenly erupted in an incredibly blinding light, arcs of electricity surging, and flashes of thunder gleaming.
He was bathed in the lightning, like the thunder god from ancient mythology, his might as overwhelming as a natural disaster.
Thunder, the might of heaven!
This was a fear etched into the instincts of all living things, a fear no one dared to despise.
"Roar! Roar!"
The black ape felt a tinge of anxiety. Its instinctive fear of thunder made it want to retreat, but its animalistic fury made it want to crush the weak creature that had challenged it.
Hesitant, it could only vent its anger with roars.
"Shut up!"
Before he could finish his words, Rhodes transformed into a streak of light, streaking across the battlefield. Then, his sword, swirling with lightning and a pale blue light, suddenly cut through the air, slashing down furiously.
Slice!
Like a hot knife through butter,
the previously unbreakable bones shattered in an instant, almost like rotten wood.
The huge arm fell to the ground, and blood gushed out.
The pain of the severed limb, the numbness and fear brought by the thunder, finally completely broke the black ape's will. It roared in pain, stomped its feet hard, turned around and ran.
This creature is too scary!
Must escape!
But at this moment.
A figure suddenly and quickly passed by the black ape, and the power of thunder pierced its muscles and made it convulse.
It suddenly froze in place, and its bloodthirsty red eyes reflected the figure bathed in thunder, like a god.
The red in its eyes quickly faded.
Then a trace of blood quickly spread along the left shoulder to the lower abdomen.
Its body shook slightly, and half of its body began to slowly slide down along the blood line.
Rhodes took a look, flicked the sword clean, sheathed it, turned around and left.
