Chapter 60: childhood friend returns
As Mira and Leo settled into bed, the tension between them was palpable. They lay side by side, the darkness of the room illuminated only by the faint moonlight streaming through the window.
Just as they were drifting off to sleep, the sound of Leo's phone buzzing on the nightstand broke the silence. He groggily reached over to silence it, but his eyes widened as he saw the name on the screen.
"Ana," he whispered, his voice laced with a mix of surprise .
Mira raised an eyebrow. "Who's Ana?" she asked, her voice soft.
Leo hesitated before responding. "An old friend from childhood. We grew up together."
Just then, the phone buzzed again, and Leo's expression turned serious. "She's on her way here. Tomorrow."
Mira's eyes narrowed. "Ohk?"
As they tried to sleep, Mira couldn't shake off the feeling that Ana's arrival would change everything.
Meanwhile, Don Matteo's meeting with Miss Jenkins over the phone at the safehouse was underway. The air was thick with tension as they discussed the upcoming visit from Ana.
"I'm not sure what she's planning," Don Matteo said, his voice low and menacing. "But I have a feeling it's not going to be good for anyone."
Miss Jenkins nodded in agreement. "We'll be prepared, sir. Whatever happens, we'll handle it."
But as they parted ways, Don Matteo couldn't shake off the feeling that Ana's arrival was just the beginning of a storm that would shake the foundations of leos world.....
