Chapter 78 - Chapter 77: Heroes – Uchiha Kenya (Part 2)

Kenya pulled out the truth that Obito had once flicked at Uchiha Sasuke in the original tale—only this time, he twisted part of it.

He revealed that the Nine-Tails' attack had driven Konoha's leadership into deep distrust of the Uchiha clan, planting the seeds of hatred that would one day ignite into revolution.

Under the astonished gaze of everyone present, Kenya raised three fingers and continued:

"During that time, three members of the Uchiha clan began to sense something was wrong—myself, Uchiha Shisui, and Uchiha Itachi.

Shisui tried to use his Mangekyō Sharingan to prevent the clan's uprising, but he failed. As for his death, I don't know the details—perhaps Third Hokage deliberately kept it from me.

Itachi… he chose the village over the clan. On the condition that his younger brother Sasuke be spared, he slaughtered his own people, abandoned Konoha, and lived as a traitor—though in truth, he remained Konoha's secret blade.

And me? I discovered the truth. I confronted Third Hokage and made the same deal as Itachi. At the cost of becoming a rogue, I would help him massacre my own clan—never to return to Konoha."

Kenya chuckled, glancing at Kakashi, Guy, and the others.

"That's why, four years ago, when you chased me, I didn't truly force you into a desperate corner… did I?"

"This is impossible!"

Kakashi's voice was heavy. "If you're telling the truth, then why did you kill Asuma?"

Kenya's gaze turned cold.

"You've forgotten, Kakashi. At that time, Asuma was intent on killing me. If I hadn't acted first, I would have been the one to die."

Kakashi fell silent, unable to reply.

The others were frozen in disbelief. Could it really be that the Uchiha massacre was shrouded in such political darkness?

Nara Shikaku broke the silence. "Calm down, Kakashi. Let him finish."

Turning his sharp eyes back to Kenya, Shikaku asked, "Then why did you become Sunagakure's second-in-command? If you were born a Konoha shinobi, why attack Konoha?"

"Mind your words, Nara Shikaku," Kenya said coldly. "When the Uchiha were annihilated and I was stripped of my title as a Leaf shinobi, I ceased to be one. From that moment on, I was no longer bound to Konoha."

Shikaku clenched his jaw, then bowed his head. "...Continue."

Kenya nodded. "Although I left Konoha, I still drifted between nations, gathering intelligence for the village. But when I entered the Land of Wind, I crossed paths with Itachi.

Like me, he wandered from country to country, collecting information. Neither of us expected to encounter Baki, who had been sent by Sunagakure to Konoha to negotiate for food. Itachi tried to avoid conflict—but at that time, Sand was suffering from famine and poverty. Uchiha blood carried the world's highest bounty. Baki and his men couldn't resist."

"In the end, Baki and his squad were no match. They all died."

The Sand shinobi around him nodded silently, acknowledging the truth.

Kenya continued. "If left unchecked, this incident could have sparked a war between Konoha and Sand. After reporting to Third Hokage, Itachi and I agreed to cover it up.

But Itachi, wounded, left first. I stayed behind to face the consequences—and I went to meet the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, prepared to admit that Itachi and I had slain his shinobi."

Kenya's lips curved into a faint smile. "What I never expected was that after our battle, Rasa called for a truce. He spread the lie that 'Uchiha Kenya was dead' and invited me to join Sunagakure. He offered me a stable life, a high position under the name Aizen.

All I had to do was shift my loyalty—from Konoha to Sand. To tell the truth, I was tired of wandering. So I accepted."

He looked around the chamber. "And the rest… you already know."

The Sand shinobi fell silent, stunned by the revelation.

"The true identity of Lord Aizen… it's actually this…"

"Incredible. No wonder we'd never heard of him before."

"Impossible… our teacher was once a Konoha shinobi…"

Temari, seated beside him, stared wide-eyed. "Kenya… is this true?"

Kenya reached out, resting his hand gently on her head. He smiled softly.

"Although I was once a Leaf shinobi, Temari, I care for you, for Gaara, for Kankurō… and for Sunagakure."

Temari flushed, lowering her gaze to hide her reddening face.

Kenya's tone shifted, calm but firm. "At first, Rasa didn't fully trust me. He intended to use my Sharingan to help Gaara master control over Shukaku. But through my efforts—the grain trade with Konoha, the Kirigakure alliance, and Gaara's taming of Shukaku—his trust grew.

In the end, he even entrusted me with this alliance with Orochimaru. But none of us anticipated Orochimaru's betrayal… and the death of the Kazekage."

"That's the problem!"

Might Guy's voice rang out, sharp with fury. He pointed straight at Kenya.

"As a Konoha shinobi, how dare you attack your own village!"

"Watch your mouth when speaking to Lord Aizen!" Jinnarō roared in outrage.

Kenya raised a hand, silencing him, and replied coolly, "Konoha abandoned me long ago. Why should it be strange that I chose another village? If not for Konoha and Itachi, I would have died four years ago.

Since I live in Sand, I serve Sand. And when Orochimaru turned on Rasa, I did my utmost to protect Sunagakure."

"Yes!" Jinnarō bellowed with fierce loyalty. "Even if Lord Aizen was not born of Sunagakure, his contributions to our village are greater than any shinobi's! He deserves the title of Kazekage!"

"That's right!" another shinobi shouted. "It doesn't matter where he was born—what matters is that he has done more for Sunagakure than anyone else in history!"

"Teacher, please," Temari's voice trembled with admiration. "Don't dwell on your past identity. You will always be one of us."

"My lord, please become the Fifth Kazekage!"

"Yes, Lord Kenya—take the seat of Fifth Kazekage!"

One after another, voices rang out. Pakura and the other high-ranking Sand shinobi voiced their support.

Even Gaara and Kankurō, though silent, did not object. Their silence itself was approval.
