Chapter 42 - The beginning of a change

Akat and his family had already departed.

Talotkan's father too had to return to England.

Yet within his heart, a storm brewed.....on one side, the unbearable grief of losing his beloved daughter,

and on the other, a fragile comfort…

for the family had finally become whole, just as he had once dreamed it to be.

Yim had left behind her previous work....

not because of sorrow,

but because she had chosen to move forward.

Now, together with Phop Rak, she began to learn from Grandmother the very craft Talotkan had longed to carry forward.

And Pranee, casting aside the shadows of the past, now stood firmly with them.

Once again, colorful clothes fluttered across the courtyard,

and people slowly began to arrive, bringing fabrics to be dyed.

It was as though life had returned,

and yet...

no one, not a single soul, had found the courage to even glance toward Talotkan's room.

For her chamber was not merely a place of four walls and a door.

It carried the weight of her presence,

the suffocating sorrow of absence,

and the tender echo of her love.

To step inside felt as if one's heart might shatter.

But one evening, Grandmother called Yim to her side.

Her voice was steady, yet heavy with remembrance:

"Talotkan loved her plants and her room deeply. She cherished them as though they were a part of her very soul.

They must be tended to.

You and Phop Rak should clean her room. It is what she would have wanted."

No one ever disobeyed Grandmother's words.

And so, Yim and Phop Rak were left with no choice but to climb the stairs toward the silent chamber above.

Seeing them ascend, Pranee too could not resist and followed quietly behind.

When the three of them opened the door to Talotkan's room,

their hearts trembled,

their eyes filled with tears.

For everywhere they looked, they found traces of her....

the small plants she had nurtured with her own hands,

her bed, her desk,

the books she had perhaps been reading.

Every object whispered her name.

Every corner bled with her memory.

But what lay ahead,

hidden within that room,

was not merely a remembrance of the past.....

it was the seed of the true change that was yet to come.
