Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Tanaka Masao sat on the sofa, lost in thought.

After a while, Sayuri Sawamura, who had just finished tidying up the guest room, came out.

She noticed Tanaka Masao sitting there in a daze and immediately realized her mistake.

She shouldn't have left him alone.

Being by himself in someone else's house would naturally make him feel awkward and restrained.

Given Eriri's current state, it would be difficult to get her to come down and spend time with him.

That meant Sayuri herself would have to step in.

Having made up her mind, she approached him with a warm smile.

"Sorry, Tanaka-kun, I kept you waiting. You must be bored."

Tanaka Masao snapped back to reality and shook his head.

"No, not at all." Sayuri Sawamura then found a place to sit down.

"I asked the chef to prepare dinner. We'll be able to eat soon."

Sayuri was not a full-time housewife—on weekdays, she also drew BL books.

And with such a large villa, there were maids and a chef to take care of the chores.

Sayuri tapped her chin thoughtfully.

"Let's see… what should we do to pass the time?"

"How about watching TV?"

Tanaka Masao suggested. All he wanted was to relax without moving around.

"TV sounds good."

Sayuri agreed easily. She picked up the remote control, turned on the television, and asked,

"Does Tanaka-kun have any favorite shows?"

"Not really."

After a moment's thought, Tanaka Masao said,

"Maybe a reality show or a variety program."

He had only been in this world for a week. Most of his time had been spent training, and when he returned home, he usually just checked his phone to see how this world differed from his previous life.

As a result, he wasn't familiar with the programs here and could only let Sayuri pick something at random.

"Variety shows? I enjoy watching those too."

Sayuri flipped through the channels for a while and finally stopped.

"Here we go, a prank variety show."

"Ah~"

A girlish cry rang out from the television at the very beginning.

Tanaka Masao was immediately drawn to it.

That voice sounded familiar—it was a type of special Japanese variety program.

A prank show.

On screen, a beautiful celebrity sat on a vibrating exercise machine, knees bent.

Her challenge was to make a phone call to an acquaintance while in that situation.

"Ahem~"

Sayuri coughed lightly, trying to cover her embarrassment.

"This prank show is really something, though it's a bit… bold."

Tanaka Masao nodded.

"Well, since it's a prank, boldness is part of the fun. Let's keep watching."

To be honest, he liked shows like this.

It wasn't the pale legs that caught his interest, but the unpredictable ideas of the production team.

As it turned out, this segment was a challenge.

The female celebrity had to call a man while speaking in a trembling voice.

But what exactly was the point of this program?

Tanaka Masao truly didn't understand.

Soon, the challenge began.

The first celebrity tossed her long black hair as she sat on the machine.

With a quivering voice, she asked shyly,

"This feels a little weird. Do I really have to play along like this?"

Seeing her embarrassed expression, the host assured her,

"Of course, that's what makes it fun."

The two other celebrities with her laughed at her performance.

She shot them a look and said, "You'll be doing the same thing next."

"Oh~ you're so annoying~"

The challenge began with their playful banter.

She called her manager, and the conversation went like this:

"Moshi Moshi."

"Yes, it's me."

"? What's that noise? What's wrong? Daijōbu? (Are you okay?)"

"Daijōbu (I'm fine), I just…"

Perhaps realizing her voice didn't sound right, she tried covering her mouth—

But that only made the sound worse.

The studio burst out laughing.

Tanaka Masao also thought it was hilarious, but with Sayuri beside him, he didn't dare laugh too loudly.

After all, only people who "understood the joke" knew why it was funny.

Sayuri, being smart, of course understood the point of the show.

And seeing how awkward Tanaka Masao looked, she couldn't resist teasing him.

Putting on an innocent face, she asked,

"Na, Tanaka-kun, why are they laughing? Is there something strange about talking like that?"

Her question left him stunned. Meeting her curious eyes, he fumbled for words.

"This… uh… well…"

Then it hit him.

Wait, Sayuri was an illustrator of adult books—there was no way she didn't know!

"Sister Sayuri, don't tease me. Let's just change the channel."

"Haha."

Her little trick was exposed, but she wasn't embarrassed at all. Instead, she laughed cheerfully.

"Tanaka-kun, don't be shy. If you want to laugh, then laugh. Just be natural. Let's keep watching."

She had only said it to help ease his tension and embarrassment.

And it worked—Tanaka Masao felt more relaxed.

Finally, he couldn't help but smile.

Though the grin looked a bit crude.

Sayuri glanced at the screen and chuckled.

"This game is really amusing. It would be even better if they called their boyfriends or husbands."

Tanaka Masao nodded.

"Not only that, but if the show also showed the other person's live reaction, it would be even funnier."

"Tanaka-kun, you really have a knack for this. That could be a brand-new segment idea."

······

The two kept chatting as the program moved on to different skits.

One prank after another played out, with celebrities being tricked.

Although both Tanaka and Sayuri felt a little sympathy for the victims, the pranks were so funny they couldn't stop laughing.
