Dylan's Point of View
It was way past eight by the time I signed the last document on my desk, the city lights flickering against the window like a thousand eyes watching me. This city I had turned into my own battlefield—always came alive at night. The skyline was beautiful, but tonight beauty did nothing for me. My mind was too restless.
Ian had left hours ago to handle some issues with his father, leaving the office quieter than usual. I should have gone home already, but something tethered me here. Something—or someone.
Ava.
She had left earlier in the afternoon to see her family. I hadn't heard from her since. I told myself she was fine, that she had gone home, that she was too busy catching up with her sisters to bother calling me. But deep down, the silence scraped at my patience.
