Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Formidable Combat Power of East Asia's Elite Infantry

In the building's surveillance room, Gregg's lips curled downward, his face dark as ink.

But a second later, a smile spread across his face: "Have the bomb under that Li Chi switched to remote detonation. I'll trigger it myself."

The subordinate receiving the order looked at him in confusion: "Sir, are you sure about disabling the auto-trigger? Won't that give him a chance to escape?"

Gregg's expression twisted viciously: "That's exactly what I want—for him to escape. How else will he taste true despair?"

"Run hard, flee desperately, and then..." Gregg clapped his hands together before suddenly splaying his fingers in an explosive motion. "Boom—straight to hell with his dear brother. Hahaha! I can't wait to see that look of utter despair. Drones, keep him in your sights. Capture every detail of his expression."

The subordinates couldn't help but shudder, trembling as they carried out the order.

...

Wei Jun floored the accelerator, charging straight toward the square without swerving.

Dozens of Hyenas who'd accepted the mission converged from other routes, gradually filling this stretch of road.

Ears twitching at the approaching engine roars, Wei Jun gauged the pursuing vehicles through the rearview mirror while reaching back to retrieve a 60cm square yellow cardboard box from the backseat.

Opening the sunroof, he hurled the box in a high arc behind the SUV. As it hit the pavement, hundreds of black caltrops scattered across the asphalt.

The chasing cars slammed their brakes upon seeing the trap, but Wei Jun's timing was perfect—they had no chance to stop.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A chorus of tire explosions erupted, followed by vehicles careening out of control.

Crash! Smash! Screech!

A dozen cars collided in a metallic symphony—some flipping sideways to be shoved forward by following vehicles, others spinning wildly to send cars flying off the road, a few launching airborne in parabolic arcs before nose-diving into the ground.

A new wave of a dozen vehicles appeared ahead, gunmen leaning out windows with submachine guns blazing at Wei Jun's SUV.

Bullets pinged harmlessly off the armored vehicle until someone targeted the tires—yet even those shots proved futile.

Wei Jun smirked, maintaining full throttle straight toward the blockade.

Most smaller vehicles swerved aside, leaving only a few matching SUVs charging head-on.

His gaze remained steely, devoid of any fear.

At the last possible second, the opposing drivers yanked their wheels aside—only to be T-boned by Wei Jun's SUV and sent spinning off the road.

Simultaneously, three grenades arced out from the sunroof to land behind him.

Boom! Kaboom!

The pursuing cars were instantly blasted into the air, exploding mid-flight before crashing down like meteors.

Flames and debris cut off the road, forcing the vehicles behind to screech to a halt.

Some people got out, kicking their cars in frustration as they watched the off-road vehicle speed away.

"Boss, let's take another route to chase them."

The boss smacked the back of the man's head hard. "Chase my ass! Can't you see Wei Jun's gone mad? Why do you think we're only using guns?"

"Why?" The subordinate blinked stupidly.

The boss couldn't resist hitting him again. "Using explosive weapons under Satellite surveillance—do you still want a life after this? Who'd let someone with that kind of record board a spaceship or Satellite?"

"But those guys used them too—even Rocket Propelled Grenades!"

"They've got the Atlantic Federation to cover for them. Do we? Retreat! We're not getting involved in this mess anymore. Money's no good if you're dead."

Wei Jun's off-road vehicle raced forward, dealing with a few more attackers before gradually approaching the square.

The moment he turned onto another road, two disc-shaped objects suddenly shot out from the roadside bushes.

Thud! Thud!

The discs latched onto the vehicle's body with tremendous suction.

Hearing the noise, Wei Jun's expression changed. He grabbed a rifle from the backseat with one hand while kicking the side door open and diving out.

He landed in a textbook roll, tumbling over a dozen meters before coming to a stop.

The still-moving off-road vehicle exploded in a fireball, the shockwave and scorching wind sweeping outward.

Wei Jun covered his head and flattened himself as debris rained down. Luck was on his side—only small fragments hit him.

Looking up, he saw a group of black-clad soldiers aiming their guns as they closed in.

Licking his lips, Wei Jun bared his teeth in a grin. "Been waiting for you!"

...

Inside the secret base.

Zhou Tianming had scrounged together enough materials to assemble two rockets.

The warheads were round, standing a meter tall, while the bodies were reinforced with soldering iron and mismatched metal sheets. If not for the stabilizing fins at the bottom, they wouldn't have looked like rockets at all.

Hoisting the triangular launcher made of iron pipes, Zhou Tianming left the secret base and headed for the roadside.

He summoned two unmanned cars via his phone and began modifying them.

[Warning: Interior damage detected. Passenger, cease immediately or—]

His finger tapped the payment button, transferring $10,000 without hesitation.

[Dear passenger, it is my honor to serve you. If you are dissatisfied with the interior, please leave feedback. We will make adjustments promptly.]

Zhou Tianming snorted irritably and continued working while monitoring Wei Jun's movements through a drone feed.

This was his first time witnessing the terrifying combat prowess of East Asian soldiers in the SEED universe. He'd been worried when Wei Jun's vehicle was blown up and he was surrounded.

But the truth proved that in the realm of infantry, East Asians were invincible across any world.

The men encircling Wei Jun were no match for him. Despite his large frame, he moved with uncanny speed and agility, dodging bullets effortlessly.

They tried to form a crossfire, but Wei Jun gave them no time—in an instant, he was already amidst them.

Now, his numerical disadvantage became an advantage. His close-combat skills were overwhelming; none could withstand a single strike from him.

Zhou Tianming calculated in his mind—less than a minute had passed, and only two or three scattered enemies remained.

Brutal!

But when he thought of East Asia's performance in the original work, he couldn't help but sigh. In the later stages, with cutting-edge technology emerging endlessly, East Asia fell a whole version behind the Atlantic Federation, rendering the elite soldiers' advantages utterly useless.

No wonder East Asia had always been sidelined. What a shame.

While lost in thought, his hands moved swiftly. Zhou Tianming quickly secured the launch rack, then mounted the rocket and covered it with a gray cloth for concealment.

Once done, he operated his phone to set the route for the unmanned car.

Watching the unmanned car speed away in Overdrive, Zhou Tianming muttered to himself, "I hope it makes it in time."

Switching to the drone's camera feed, he saw Wei Jun cutting through enemies as he charged toward the square.

Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. "Slow down a little! Can't anyone hold him off for even a moment? What kind of quality is this?"

...

The battle ceased, leaving corpses strewn across the ground. Soldiers clad in black combat uniforms lay motionless, their crimson blood pooling beneath them.

Wei Jun's clothes were tattered, and he wasn't unscathed either—a couple of gunshots to his chest had soaked the fabric with bright red blood, leaving damp stains.

Gasping for breath, he scanned his surroundings. No obstacles stood before him now.

Spotting the metal frame in the distance, he discarded his empty rifle and didn't bother picking up another weapon, striding forward with unwavering resolve.

As he approached, tears welled in Wei Jun's eyes at the sight of the figure before him. "I'm here to save you!"

Li Chi struggled to lift his eyelids, but his dark eyes held no joy—only fury.

His voice was hoarse as he spoke. "Who told you to come? You should've stayed far away and freed me from this, not stood here to die with me!"

Pressing his lips together, Wei Jun carefully untangled the wires binding Li Chi.

The thin wires had dug deep into his flesh, leaving the wounds a mangled mess. The slightest movement sent tremors of pain through Li Chi's body.

"There's still time. Kill me and get out of here."

Wei Jun remained unmoved.

Li Chi raised his voice in anger. "Think of your grandson! Think of the others! If you die too, who will avenge us?"

As he spoke, he coughed violently, spitting up mouthfuls of blood.

"I'm already done for. Please... just go."

"Ah—ah—"

Suddenly, a man's voice rang out, accompanied by the crackle of a loudspeaker.
