Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Awakening of a Gamer

Elias blinked rapidly, the world around him coming into focus like a slow-loading game screen. He pushed himself up from the forest floor, leaves sticking to his wet skin and the smell of damp earth filling his lungs. No longer was he merely a spectator in a game, but an active participant in a reality where his fate had been rewritten.

"Alright, time to get my bearings," he muttered, brushing off the remnants of the forest floor. An immediate chill crept through the air, and with it, a lingering sense of vulnerability. He needed to assess his new environment and figure out what exactly had happened.

He stood upright, stretching out a muscle that felt unusually stiff. The forest surrounded him—massive trees towered overhead, their bark thick and gnarled, leaves swaying as if whispering secrets among themselves. A steady pattering of rain fell, the droplets dancing upon the leaves, creating a soothing melody. Above, storm clouds brewed ominously, and Elias could make out sporadic lightning flashes illuminating the darkening landscape.

*Am I really in a new world?* he thought, his heart racing with both anxiety and excitement. He took a moment to gather his thoughts. He could feel something within him—a pulse, a power. But it was different from the adrenaline rush he experienced during competitive gaming. This felt deeper, more intrinsic.

With a confident breath, Elias began to explore his surroundings, moving cautiously but purposefully. As he ventured further into the forest, he marveled at the brilliant shades of green, a stark contrast to the digital screens and pixelated landscapes he had known. Yet, there was an electric feeling in the air, as if magic itself flowed through the trees, a tangible reminder that he was in a world governed by rules far beyond his understanding.

After some minutes of walking, Elias stumbled upon a clearing. At its center stood an ancient stone altar, covered in moss and vines, inscribed with strange symbols that glimmered softly under the diffused light. Curious, he approached it slowly. *What kind of game am I in?* he wondered. The altar seemed untouched by time, radiating a mysterious energy that pulled him closer.

Suddenly, a notification appeared in his vision, translucent and shimmering like a hologram.

**[Quest Unlocked: The Awakening]**

*"Elias, you have been reborn into this world of Archeon. Your first quest is to recognize and embrace the powers that reside within you. Discover your class, harness your abilities, and begin your journey."*

For a moment, he stood there, stunned. Relief washed over him, flooding his system—this was no mere coincidence. Gaming had been his life, his escape. He had spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, fine-tuning strategies, leveling up characters, and forging bonds. Now, he was experiencing that very thrill firsthand.

"So, I'm not dreaming…?" he whispered, a grin stretching across his face. "I'm really in a game!"

Closing the notification, Elias inspected the altar more closely. His fingers traced the cold stone. "Class, huh?" he muttered to himself. Was this how he was supposed to determine who he would become in this life?

Suddenly, his hands began to glow with a warm light, pulling his attention toward an inscription that seemed to shimmer more brightly than the rest. As he focused on it, words began to crystallize in his mind:

**[Choose Your Class]**

1. **Warrior** - A master of melee combat, balanced in strength and endurance.

2. **Mage** - A wielder of arcane magic, powerful yet fragile.

3. **Rogue** - Stealthy and cunning, adept at deceit and agility.

4. **Cleric** - A healer and support class, harnessing divine energy to protect allies.

5. **Hunter** - A skilled tracker and archer, one with nature and adept in survival.

Elias felt a thrill shoot through him. Each option gleamed with potential, and his mind raced with thoughts of strategies. In his old life, he had always favored the Mage class for its power—and, of course, the thrill of casting spells. But something tugged at his instincts. In a world where leveling up could take decades, he needed to consider longevity.

"Maybe a hybrid class...?" Elias pondered, relaying the information in his head. Warriors tended to make excellent tanks, but the offense and power of a Mage had its appeal. Then he remembered the passive ability he possessed—his multiplier, the 'Grinding God' factor.

"Rogue." He finally said aloud. "I need to be quick, smart, and adaptable."

Instantly, he felt a surge within him, a rush of energy filling his veins. His body hummed with newfound strength, agility, and a sense of purpose. After adjusting to the sensations, a new notification filled his vision:

**[Congratulations! You have chosen Rogue as your class.]**

**[Passive Skill Unlocked: Shadow Step]** – Grants the ability to move unseen and unheard for short bursts.

**[Active Skill Unlocked: Backstab]** – Deal double damage when attacking an enemy from stealth.

Elias reveled in the sensations. Suddenly, the world felt larger, richer with possibilities. He imagined underground dungeons teeming with monsters, treasures waiting to be unearthed—by his hands. *Time to put these abilities to the test.*

"I need to find something to fight," he said, determination sealing his decision. "I can practically hear the XP calling me."

Despite the thrill swelling inside him, reality dipped back in. He was alone in this vast forest. Where should he go? He scanned the clearing, particularly drawn by the rising sounds of flowing water just beyond a thicket of brambles. Perhaps the river could hold a bounty of life—or danger.

Pushing through the branches, he emerged into another clearing with a wide, fast-moving stream wound like a silver ribbon through vibrant foliage. Kneeling down, Elias cupped his hands in the cool water, desperate to quell his thirst. As he quenched his thirst, something caught his eye on the opposite bank—a small creature scuttling among the rocks.

It was no larger than a rabbit but glistened with iridescent scales, sparkling like gems in the dappled sunlight. He squinted, creating a mental note. If anything was worth encountering as his first enemy, it should be this strange beast.

He crept carefully along the bank, straining to see with stealth-induced clarity. *This is just practice,* he reminded himself, even as excitement bubbled inside. With newfound rogue skills, he felt as if he could pounce onto the little creature like a shimmering wraith.

As he drew closer, he heard a low growl emanating from beneath the water's surface. His instincts kicked in; the small creature was no prey—it was a lure, and he was the unsuspecting fool.

The water erupted, and a serpent-like creature burst forth, glistening with the same scales as the prey, covered in slick moss. The river was home to something bigger. No ordinary beast could thrive here in peace.

"Great," he muttered, eyes widening. His heart raced as he stumbled back, adrenaline pushing him into fight or flight mode.

In a split second, he activated **Shadow Step**. His vision blurred as he faded from existence, drawing deep on the ability to blend into the surroundings. He felt the magic wrapping around him like a cloak as he maneuvered behind a tree, keeping a pressing gaze on the lurching beast before him.

"Now to try the other skill," he concluded, preparing his attack. He waited, muscles coiled like a tightly wound spring, and then the moment struck. The creature returned its focus to the water, and he struck—launching himself from concealment, dagger drawn.

"Backstab!" he roared, the primal exhilaration surging through him, his blade flashing down toward the creature's unprotected flank.

The air around him felt charged, electric. His dagger sunk deep into the scale, a radiant flash igniting as the damage counter leapt in his mind: **[Critical Hit!]** **[50 HP Damage!].**

The serpent thrashed violently, releasing an anguished cry that echoed off the trees. But Elias wasn't about to wear off just yet. He quickly dodged sideways, the creature's tail narrowly missing his torso.

"Okay, okay," he said, breathing heavily. "This is the real deal. Time to prove my worth."

He moved quick, dodging and striking, driven by sheer adrenaline. Each successful hit empowered him further; the rush of combat brought back memories of exhilarating tournaments—glories won and lost in milliseconds.

With another skilled maneuver, Elias kept the pressure, thrusting his dagger steadily into the creature until—finally, with one final thrust, it reared its head, signaling defeat. The beast thrashed one last time before going still.

Panting heavily, he stepped back and watched as a burst of light erupted from the creature, enveloping him. Suddenly, a torrent of notifications flooded his vision.

**[Congratulations! You have defeated a River Serpent.]**

**[XP Gained: 5000 (x100)] – Total: 500,000 XP!]**

**[You have leveled up to Level 5!]**

**[Skills Update: Shadow Step has leveled up to Level 2.]**

Elias stood stunned, laughter bubbling up from his chest as he felt the exhilaration of power coursing through him. "Five hundred thousand XP under my belt already? This is going to be fun!"

Taking a moment to savor his victory, Elias looked back at the serpent. The glowing remnants of its form dissipated, leaving behind a shimmering scale, much like the ones he had seen before. He reached down, picking it up—it felt cool in his palm, a tangible piece of a victory already etched in his memory.

"An item drop?" His mind raced with possibilities. "Maybe it has some special properties…"

Eagerly, he went through the motions, inspecting the scale.

**[Item Acquired: Glimmering Scale]**

*Item Type: Material*

*Description: A beautiful scale from a River Serpent. Can be used in crafting or sold to merchants.*

*Value: 100 Gold.*

He tucked it away into his pocket, heart swelling with glee. Gold could be used for essentials, better gear—it could fuel his quest for domination in this land.

With renewed resolve, he surveyed the lush landscape around him, a world filled with enemies yet to challenge, mysteries yet to unfold, and dungeons waiting to be traversed.

"Alright, let's get grinding," he proclaimed, grinning ear to ear, ready to navigate the intricacies of his new status as a Gamer in a world ripe for exploration.

In the depths of the forests and beyond lay the promise of adventure—a domain where the grinding would lead him closer and closer to godhood.

And he couldn't wait to begin.
