Kaito Shirogane walked past the two white lions and entered the [Goddess's Sanctum].
The giant, silver-haired, red-eyed Goddess was still floating in the air, her skirt billowing in a way that just perfectly obscured all her hidden parts.
"Tsk. It's you again, you rude little thing. You're not dead yet?"
The Goddess clearly possessed some form of intelligence. She not only remembered Kaito but also displayed a clear attitude of disgust toward him.

[A. Upgrade Reincarnator Authority]
[B. Ability Advancement / Removal]
[C. Lineage Advancement / Removal]
[D. Sequence Advancement / Removal]
[E. Talent Advancement / Anchoring]
[F.
…
This time, Kaito saw a new option. "E."
The Goddess looked down at Kaito again, then descended from the air. Her ruby-like eyes swirled, and Kaito felt an invisible force—like a gentle breeze—sweep over his entire body.
"A talent that has never appeared before. I didn't expect you to be so valuable."
Kaito's talent, after being anchored by the Nexus, was currently showing two possibilities, neither of which was a perfect match.
[Talent: Primal Gene Lock - Stage Two (Similarity 75%) (A+) - An evolutionary shackle unlocked through death and despair, power that transcends the limits of life.]
[Talent: Absolute Territory - Ultimate Power (Similarity 72%) (A) - The ultimate power that transcends humanity.]
"Your situation accounts for approximately 0.34% of cases. The Nexus has no recorded data on this talent. You may choose to pay a price, and I will merge your talent into one of the existing systems."
"Both [Primal Gene Lock] and [Ultimate Power] are talents with considerable potential. By choosing one, you can continue to advance your talent, unlocking higher stages of the Gene Lock or awakening the Great Universe Power."
The Goddess lowered her head. Her enormous, perfect face was now less than a meter from Kaito's. There was not a single flaw on it; he couldn't even see a single pore. But precisely because of this, it triggered a powerful uncanny valley effect that kept him from being drawn in.
"Or," Kaito said, "I should have other choices, shouldn't I, Lady Goddess?"
The Goddess immediately saw the arrogance in the tiny Reincarnator's heart. That air of self-importance was practically written on his face. He thought he was special, that he didn't want to be defined by any existing system. It seemed that every Reincarnator with this kind of anomalous talent was the same, convinced they were the chosen one. And yet, so very few of them ever survived long enough for her to see those talents bear fruit. Tsk.
"You can, of course, refuse the merger and allow your talent to awaken naturally, eventually revealing its true form. Assuming, that is…"
"...that I live that long. I know," Kaito finished her sentence, smiling.
His logic wasn't based on arrogance or ego. It was pure value logic. If his talent already possessed the characteristics of two powerful abilities, then in a certain sense, it was inherently more valuable than either one alone. To pay an additional, irreversible, high-tier resource cost now, just to have the Goddess downgrade his unique talent into one of them simply so he could spend more Singularities to level it... no matter how he thought about it, that was a terrible deal.
He didn't explain this, but the Goddess could see his thoughts. She floated back up a bit.
"Lady Goddess, this curse mark of mine. Can it be upgraded?" Kaito held up his left hand, showing her the [Secret Rite - Strike of Inari]. This was, at present, his most powerful burst-damage attack. But he wasn't sure if the Nexus classified it as [Equipment] or an [Ability].
The Goddess glanced at it once and then looked away.
[Secret Rite - Strike of Inari: Strengthening requires 1 C-rank Singularity. Recharging requires 1 D-rank Singularity.]
Kaito thought for a moment. He was left with 1 B-rank Singularity, 2 C-rank, and 1 D-rank. Considering he wanted to level up [Hamon], he didn't strengthen the curse mark. He simply spent the 1 D-rank Singularity to recharge it. This was another convenience for Reincarnators. So-called "wish power" and "faith" from mortals, which plot characters would need to accumulate over years, could be instantly replicated with a Singularity.
For Reincarnators, these resources could be exchanged to fuel their own power. As long as they were used properly, Reincarnators were a pack of bloodthirsty wolves, "using war to fuel war."
Kaito then broke one of his C-rank Singularities down into three D-rank Singularities.
[With the Goddess's blessing, Ability: Hamon Lv4 has been upgraded. Current: Hamon Lv5.]
[With the Goddess's blessing, Ability: Hamon Lv5 has been upgraded. Current: Hamon Lv6.]
[Energy attribute +1. Current: 5 (3+2)]
Next, as the Goddess watched with a hungry look in her eyes, Kaito offered up another C-rank Singularity to push Hamon to the Lv7 threshold.
[With the Goddess's blessing, Ability: Hamon Lv6 has been upgraded. Current: Hamon Lv7.]
[Energy +1. Current: 6 (4+2)]
[Constitution +1. Current: 17 (15+2)]
[Ability Hamon (C+) has broken through to Lv7. Please select a specialization.]
[A: Ripple Enhancement. When active, grants an additional +2 to Strength, Agility, and Constitution (this effect cannot trigger a limit break).]
[B: Scarlet Ripple Overdrive. Allows the user to generate high-temperature scarlet Hamon. Attacks inflict burning damage.]
[C: Sage Art Ripple Overdrive. Hamon gains the property of passing through walls and stone.]
[D: Turquoise Ripple Overdrive. Allows Hamon to be conducted through liquids.]
[E: Silver Ripple Overdrive. Allows Hamon to be conducted through metal.]
[F: Ripple Surge. The base intensity of Hamon is increased. Energy +1. (Rare)]
When any ability reached Lv7, it had entered a profound stage, and the upgrades were powerful. But for Kaito, he wasn't considering the numerous intellectual combat scenarios from JoJo. His fighting style leaned more toward using explosive speed and power to destroy his opponents head-on. Therefore, after only a moment's thought between options A and F, he chose F.
His reasoning was that while option A gave high stat bonuses, the notation "cannot trigger a limit break" meant it was just a buff, similar in effect to his talent, and wouldn't lead to a qualitative change. The increase to his base Energy and Hamon intensity, however, was something that no other pathway could currently replace.
After confirming his choice, Kaito felt the Hamon within him swell to the point of overflowing. The rapid increase to his Energy attribute not only strengthened the intensity of the ripples he could output, but also greatly enhanced his body's regenerative capabilities. As long as he didn't suffer a catastrophic injury like a severed limb that would stop him from breathing properly, he now possessed an extremely powerful form of combat endurance.
With that, Kaito was left with only 1 B-rank and 1 D-rank Singularity. Considering that the materials for the [Secret Trove: Cursed Blood Origin] were highly likely to appear in other Japanese-themed anime worlds, he kept the B-rank Singularity as a trump card. At a critical moment, he could use it to enact Path 2 of the formula, temporarily turning himself into a demon to survive.
"Sinner," the Goddess's voice rang out. "Don't you want to raise your Reincarnator star-rating? Sometimes, the things that look the most useless have the greatest influence…"
The Goddess needed Singularities, of that he was certain. But Kaito couldn't tell if her words were a genuine hint or just a sales pitch. In any case, he wasn't going to be goaded into spending his last B-rank Singularity. He waved his hand and turned to leave.
"Next time, Lady Goddess."
Not long after he left the Goddess's Sanctum, the familiar prompt appeared. Kaito returned to his private space and waited quietly for deployment.
At the same time, in another massive private space, a man in a green robe picked up the [Black Blade, Yoru] from beside his chair. He looked at the floating clock and said to himself, "Out of time. What a lucky rookie."

[Deployment commencing…]
A torrent of information streams instantly pierced Kaito's mind. He was already getting used to the sensation. A smile unconsciously touched his lips, and his heart began to beat a little faster.
Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Thump-thump…
He didn't know how much time had passed, but he was awakened by the sound of a thunderous heartbeat. Kaito blinked. A moment later, the image of the world snapped into his vision.
A dark plaza. Dilapidated tall buildings. Walls covered in moss and bloodstains. A crooked neon sign flickered occasionally, making the atmosphere even more sinister.
A woman was standing in a corner about fifty meters away from him, her face pale. Her frantic heartbeat was deafeningly loud in the silent space. She also saw Kaito wake up and began to mouth something at him, but unfortunately, the standard-issue language comprehension of the Nexus did not include lip-reading.
The next moment.
CRASH!
The wall behind the woman, along with her body, simultaneously exploded. A giant, grotesque blue arm, covered in countless human faces—some crying, some laughing—smashed out of the darkness. Each of the faces on the arm was now carefully observing the dark plaza.
"Quiet now," one face whispered. "Yes, quiet is so nice, hehe…"
"It is," another agreed. "That heartbeat was so loud, so noisy!"
The faces on the arm were talking to each other.
Kaito stood in the shadows, watching this scene with no expression. He knew that the Nexus would not arrange for an "instant-kill" trap the moment a Reincarnator spawned. Therefore, as long as he didn't do anything drastic, he was safe for the moment.
Blood flowed across the ground. Kaito looked down as a line of text appeared.

Kaito stared at the long list of notifications that had appeared before the world milestones even had a chance to load. He "tsked" under his breath.
"It seems," he mused, "that some incredible bastard has already torn this world to shreds."
