Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: A Promise Fulfilled

The last day of treatment was the most crucial, demanding every ounce of Bibi Dong's focus. As she channeled her Soul Devouring Spider Emperor's energy into Dugu Xin's meridians, the final dregs of the hereditary poison were drawn out, coiling like emerald smoke before being absorbed by the soul bones.

A week of painstaking precision, of delicate control and immense soul power, had culminated in this one moment. Dugu Xin's sallow skin filled with a healthy flush, his breaths steady, his eyes no longer clouded by pain. A quiet hum of energy replaced the sickly aura that had clung to him for years.

When Dugu Xin's eyes opened, they were clear, a vibrant green unmarred by the black veins that had once marred his face. He sat up, his movements fluid and free from the agony he had known since birth. He looked at his hands, turning them over in disbelief, then met Bibi Dong's gaze.

"You... you did it," he whispered, his voice strong and steady. "The pain is gone. I've never felt so light." A powerful wave of gratitude washed over him, a raw emotion that bypassed formalities. He stood and bowed, a gesture of profound respect. "Thank you, Saintess. You have given me a new life."

Bibi Dong offered a small, calm smile. "Your gratitude is not necessary, but it is appreciated."

Dugu Bo, who had watched the entire process with bated breath, now stood with a reverence that spoke louder than any words. He looked from his healthy son to the woman who had accomplished the impossible.

His reputation as the Poison Douluo, a master of his domain, had crumbled in the face of her power and knowledge. He had found no cure in decades, yet she had delivered one in a week.

"You have completed your promise," Dugu Bo said, his voice thick with emotion. "You are a woman of your word."

He then turned to Ye Xiaoling, who was still examining the now-healthy Dugu Xin with a look of stunned scientific wonder. "Brother, do you see? Her method is flawless. It surpasses all known healing arts."

Ye Xiaoling, the Nine Hearts Begonia spirit master, nodded, his eyes shining. "Indeed. The soul bones serve as a perfect vessel for the poison. It's a transfer of energy, not a forced removal. It's truly ingenious." He looked at Bibi Dong, his usual calm demeanor replaced with an eager curiosity. "Saintess, if you would, how did you come to know of this method? Is there a secret to it?"

Bibi Dong calmly accepted his inquiry, her mind already forming a plausible, non-threatening answer. "I am no healer, Grandmaster. My success is twofold." She paused, her smile holding a hint of modesty that felt unnatural on her.

"Firstly, my Death Spider Emperor martial soul possesses a natural affinity for all things venomous, which allowed me to manipulate the poison without harm. Secondly, I have had the privilege of studying some of Spirit Hall's most ancient texts. There, I discovered a long-forgotten record of a person who used a similar method to cleanse themselves of a great spiritual miasma that had taken root in their body. It was an extremely bold and dangerous move, but the theory was sound."

Dugu Bo's eyes widened in recognition. "Such a person existed?" he asked, an undercurrent of admiration in his voice. "To experiment with one's own body in such a manner... that is a level of courage that few can claim."

His son, now fully aware of the risk, added, "It is an act of pure will. To bet everything on a theory of salvation... that is truly admirable."

Bibi Dong allowed their admiration to wash over her, a quiet victory in itself. Her knowledge of her past life's history was not just a tool for revenge; it was a source of power that commanded respect.

After the conversation, Bibi Dong informed Dugu Bo that she would return soon to begin his treatment, but that a short delay was necessary. "I have acquired a Tidal Pearl," she explained, "a rare relic that can harmonize my soul power. I need to integrate it fully before I can undertake your cure. It will make the process faster and more efficient, ensuring no harm comes to you."

Dugu Bo's trust in her was now complete. "A few days' wait is nothing," he said, his voice firm. "You have already completed the most important part of our bargain." He then offered a promise that would prove to be invaluable in the future.

"The sanctuary is yours. Come and go as you please. You have my full permission to explore it, but I must caution you again. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well is a priceless treasure. If other Titled Douluos were to learn of its existence, they would seek to claim it, and it could spark a war. The secret must remain safe."

Bibi Dong gave a passive, assured nod. "The secret is safe within me, Dugu Bo. My ambition is grand, but it is not foolish."

With her promise fulfilled and a powerful new alliance secured, Bibi Dong said her goodbyes and left the estate. The sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and violet as she made her way back to Spirit Hall, a sense of quiet triumph thrumming in her veins.
