Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Golden inchor Melon

The porcupine curled into a ball with it spikes standing erect menacingly as soon as it saw him but he continued to walk towards slowly. He was no worried at all, a rank 1 creature could not threaten him.

Realising he was not deterred by it intimidating tactic it stood up and tried to run. He threw a ball of the web fluid at it, it spread out mid air and became a large net.

The porcupine was caught and trapped by the net and no matter how hard it tried it couldn't break free. He then caught it with a web rope and pulled it towards him.

Although it was large and probably weighed over a ton he was able to easily pull it towards him like it weighed nothing. After eating it he continued on his way.

Days passed, although he was walking slowly he had gotten too far from his home, infact he doesn't even know how far he had gotten.

During these past few days he had not met a single rank 2 but he did kill a few rank 1. He was suddenly disturbed by a system notification while feasting on a corpse of a 14 metre long snake under the moon light.

( WARNING: The hour of the blood moon approaches, beware the savagery that follows) 'What? What does that even mean?'

There was no answer so he tried to ignore it. He spent the rest of the day hunting, he was still not lucky enough to come across a rank 2, infact even rank 1 beasts seemed agitated lately.

He spent the next two days running around but he was distracted, as much as he tried to he couldn't ignore the system warning. Not knowing what the blood moon was worried him even more.

His mind was suddenly drawn by a delicious scent, his body was screaming at him to have whatever he was smelling. Whatever it was, it would certainly be beneficial to him.

He ran towards it, a few kilometres later he came out to a large opening a few dozen kilometres across. However it did not look natural, the trees were obviously uprooted by something, or someone.

At the centre of this opening was a large tree standing at over 100 metres tall, from this tree grew 2 golden fruits the size of watermelons.

The scent originated from these fruits, he doesn't know what exactly would happen if he ate them but he was certain it would be good for him.

( Notice: Host has come across a rank 4 natural elixir, Golden inchor Melon. System strongly recommends host consume it) ' Yeah I would love that as well'

This was the first time the system had given him a notice about something he had yet to eat and even recommend he eat it. So this fruit was certain to yield massive benefits for him, there was one problem though.

Under the canopy of the tree was a group of giant creatures. They had long trunks and some with tusks and their bodies were covered in large fur.

He had read about these things, these were most certainly woolly mammoths but they were much larger than the ones he read about.

There were close to 40 of them, the smallest being around 8 metres tall and looked like they were still only babies. However even those babies were rank 1.

The larger ones which were fewer were rank 2 and they appeared to be older as well, they were walking around tending to the young ones, some were breast feeding the young while others were cleaning them with their trunks.

However the most noticeable ones were the two largest sitting next to the tree trunk. Even lying down they were around 30 metres tall.

One was slightly smaller than the other and had smaller tusks. This was obviously the female and the other one was a male. Both of them exuded an aura that made his blood cold.

An aura much stronger than his own, he had never seen a rank 3 before but he was certain both of them were. They were both sound asleep with little ones sometimes running on top of them.

He wanted to run but his body kept screaming at him to eat those two fruits. He still turned around and left. As soon as he left, the larger mammoth opened one eye and looked at his disappearing figure then went back to sleep.

He continued hunting to release stress, hunting was becoming harder. He was finding it hard to even catch a single rank 1 creature.

Though he could sense them from afar they ran as soon as he sensed them. While he could chase them it would still be hard to catch them in this dense jungle.

He continued moving as far away from the tree as possible but the urge to go back and steal those fruits was overwhelming no matter how far away he went.

He thought about it, with his defence even a rank 3 would not be able to easily kill him, he just needed a little bit of time to steal them, as long as he could survive a few seconds he would succeed.

With his new found confidence he went back. The direction was very clear, the scent was still drawing him in. When he got close he didn't enter the opening but circled around it.

He needed a way to get close to the tree without being noticed. He walked around the edge of the clear opening using the trees as cover.

It was dark and with the trees hiding him it was impossible for the mammoths to discover him. Besides, they were all asleep, which he thought was stupid.

Atleast they should've had a few act as a lookout. Even if not to protect the fruits but to protect the young ones from predators. While lost in his thoughts something snapped under his foot.

He looked down and it was a bone half buried underground. He suddenly felt a terrifying gaze land on him, when he raised his head his eyes met two giant yellow eyes, the male was looking straight at him.

' Shit'
