Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Shen Maiomiao marched across her vast territory and went on a quest to arrest the second-rate scoundrels who dared slack off.

Her family has the ability to feed her, but what about theirs? Not a chance! With not enough workers, they struggle just to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. If they shirk their duties, what they might be feasting on is the flesh and blood of their elders; a blood-soaked meat bun!

Again, except for her, how could there be such rascals lurking around? How can they be more shameless than her, Shen Miaomiao?

So while the team leader was supervising his team members, he heard a scream, followed by a man rolling down the hill towards the field. The poor guy stopped just right at the feet of the team leader.

"...."

"...."

The guy scrambled to his feet, glaring back up in the direction he had come from. Without missing a beat, a straw sandal whizzed through the air and struck him right back down.

"...."

This time, he stood up with more composure, brushed the dust from his clothes, slipped on the flying sandal, and bowed his head, saying, "Sorry for being late, Team Leader. Go ahead and deduct my points."

"...."

"...Go to work."

They heard shrieks echo through the village, and no one doubted their ears. Everyone knew exactly who the culprit was. With the majority of people toiling in the fields, their village was being 'ransacked' once again by the notorious bandit from the old accountant's family.

On the other side, 'Bandit' Shen Miaomiao had already set her sights on her next unsuspecting target.

Unless they managed to flee the village entirely, Shen Miaomiao hunted them down one by one. Whether they cowered in their homes or loitered in the shadows, her network of tiny informants would sniff them out. It was only a matter of time before every last one was rounded up.

"Shen Miaomiao!" Shen Ao, who was kidnapped right inside his house, shouted with shame.

He was hauled along by his shirt, the fabric stretched to its limit and threatening to tear at any moment!

"Call me grandma!"

Shen Ao sneered, "Shen Maiomiao, you take yourself too seriously. Do you really think you can discipline us? Brothers! Brothers, we must show her who is the real boss!"

Shen Miaomiao glanced back and spotted a handful of others lurking and trailing behind. It looked like they had finally realized they would be wiped out one by one, so they banded together for a last stand.

Seeing right through their schemes, Shen Miaomiao grinned and then landed a punch on Shen Ao. He felt a burst of dizziness, his vision swam, and he toppled to the ground. By the time he blinked the stars away, Shen Maiomiao had already vanished, leaving his loyal brothers to gather around him.

"Why did she run off?"

"She probably realised she can't win with a few of us, right?"

"Heh, she can fight, but who hasn't learn a thing or two? And there are plenty of us! Her two fists can't win us all."

"That's right! That's right!"

"She's arrogant because she has plenty of brothers, but she's not the only one! We brothers are united!"

Shen Ao was finally helped to stand up as he said, "Consider her smart for knowing the current events."

Just as they were rallying their spirits and boosting the morale of their ragtag army, Shen Miaomiao charged back into the fray with her reinforcement— an old man on her back.

Shen Ao and his group of bastards stare in disbelief as Shen Miaomiao dismounted the elder and pointed straight at them. "Look, Sixth Grandpa, they are escaping labour!"

Sixth Grandpa Shen's blood pressure soared after hearing this. Can this be said?!

Shen Miaomiao: Yes. Yes. I'd better say it in the village rather than be pointed out by outsiders!

He shot a fierce glare at the shameless child, but still picked up his walking stick to teach his unruly descendants a lesson.

"You unfilial bastards! Everyone is rushing to harvest! That's the grain we depend on!"

Shen Ao was horrified as his grandpa demonstrated to him the use of the stick and served him with stir-fried bamboo shoots.

"Grandpa! Grandpa, listen to me!"

Shen Miaomiao immediately blocked their escape route.

This band of second-rate troublemakers refused to surrender, struggling to dodge and weave until the old man was left panting and frustrated.

"Stay still!"

Shen Miaomiao snatched up Shen Ao, the little ring leader, then tripped the nearest boy before sending the other one tumbling into his friend with a swift kick, making the whole gang roll in the dirt.

"Little brother, just take the lesson! Don't make grandpa tired! That's unfilial!"

"Shen Miaomiao!!!"

Shen Ao cried out before being hit with a stick in the arm. Shen Miaomiao laughed as he was cornered to squat down to admit his wrongs and pleaded with Sixth Grandpa.

The other boys, fuming with anger, lunged at her all at once. She simply grabbed a random hand, yanked him forward, and let them collide.

She made sure to offer them to Sixth Grandpa Shen to receive judgment.

Brothers in distress stick together, sharing both the scolding and receiving lessons. No one can be left out.

For older generations who experienced war and famine, the work in the fields was particularly important, especially during harvest season. They believe that as long as they had food, they would not panic. Nothing can compare to the importance of grains, so no matter how much they indulge the younger generations on weekdays, they cannot be ignorant during these times and must be taught a lesson.
