Dodai thrashed wildly as his hands clawing at his throat as his lungs cried for oxygen. Ten minutes passed before Dodai's muscle spasms slowly subsided he tried everything from his fire release to earth release jutsu. His Rubber Man form has started to revert back to normal flesh as his strength failed him, leaving his lifeless body slumping into the mud.
Fuguki stepped out, looking down at the fallen Dodai with a scowl. "Well, that was uneventful. A pitiful death without any grand jutsu." He turned his eyes toward Mangetsu, who was slowly reforming his physical body beside the corpse. "Don't forget... leave no DNA behind. Cut off his head and hand it to me; I have a better idea for it. It's time to use the pill given to us by Dan Kato."
Mangetsu gave no response moving immediately to execute Fuguki's orders. He knelt at the nearby puddle, plunging his right hand into the surface of the water as chakra was released from all five of his fingertips into the water puddle and reshaping it into five massive sharp toothed sharks coalesced out.
"Water Release: Five Feeding Sharks!"
The shark beasts lunged onto the shore, dragging Dodai's headless torso into the puddle. They circled relentlessly tearing the remains apart until not a single scrap of fabric, drop of blood, or strand of hair remained.
He worked with care and keeping in mind of the possible reanimation, Mangetsu completely drained the blood from the severed head, ensuring that no viable biological material remained that could ever be used by Kumo again. Satisfied that Dodai's tracks were erased, the two Mist shinobi turned to make way toward their comrades and their next target: Aya.

Kaien's chest tightened as has been sensing a persistent dread... a warning that something had gone terribly wrong but could not put a finger on it. He came to a halt as he turned to face his squad.
"Itachi, I need you to take over and see the mission through. I'm falling back to the main vanguard," Kaien said without waiting for a response or giving Itachi a chance to object, he pivoted on his heel and disappeared in a flick.
Itachi stared at the empty space for a brief second as he pondered Kaien demeanor for a while now. Understanding that Kaien was pursuing something far more critical than their assignment, Itachi signaled for the rest of the team to move. They resumed their advance, skipping through the skirmishes scattered across the battlefield as they made their way toward the coastline to destroy the Mist's fog-producing machinery.
Meanwhile, Kaien moved in the opposite direction, his mind racing as he used his Byakugan to scour for his mother or any signs of Kiri's elite units. Stray Kirigakure shinobi repeatedly lunged out to intercept him, but he didn't waste a second dodging. He carved through them, shattering their defenses with lava-infused fists or hurling them into the path of advancing Kumo forces, who finished them off before the pitiful Kiri shinobi even landed back on the ground.
Then, his eyes caught the surge of massive chakra signatures roughly four kilometers away at his eleven o'clock. The battle there was fierce, he watched his mother, Aya, strike down Juzo, only to be immediately engulfed in a brutal blast of hidden explosive tags. Seeing her body recoil from the explosion made him panic.
"Come on, faster," he snarled pushing his legs past their limit.
Farther ahead, Zabuza fell in the fray, but Aya was already critically injured... a state that should have been impossible for a defense of her caliber, had it not been for a suicidal ambush by Jugo.
"Four tails, I need your chakra. Now," Kaien demanded, calling into his inner mindspace.
"Kaien, you've drawn on my power too many times today," Son Goku's voice came back with caution. "Your chakra network is at its limit. Your body can't handle much more of this."
"I don't care. It's now or never!" Before the Four-Tails could argue further, a torrent of scorching chakra flooded through Kaien's chakra network as the heat burned his pathways, making every nerve end scream in agony.
"Two kilometers down. Only two more to go."
He knew, he could not be of any use. But he could at least.. no he has to save his mother.
A sense of helplessness gnawed at him. He was still too far. He could see the entire disaster unfolding in real-time, unable to alter the outcome, as he continued to watch his worst nightmares play out before his eyes.
Just as he closed the distance even further, a fat swordsmen appeared before his mother. One of Kiri's Seven Swordsmen, Fuguki, hurled... the severed head of Dodai, aimed at Aya to break her resolve.
"Dodai... Dodai-sensei is dead?" Kaien's mind was surprised in shock as he looked at the man who had pulled him back from the brink of vengeance after Kakashi's death.
"For such a man, I don't even have time to mourn." Kaien was only filled with resolve to save his mother.
With a flick of his wrists, the tanto blades snapped out of their sheaths. Kaien focused on the polarity seal he had marked on his mother as he was within the range, using the connection to lock onto her exact coordinates and force his body to accelerate even faster. He hurled his blade forward with deadly momentum.
Unlike Aya, whose vision was obscured by the mist, Kaien's Byakugan easily pinpointed Utakata floating above the battlefield, concealed within a floating soap bubble. The blade tore through the sky, popping every decoy bubble in its path as it streaked straight toward the Six-Tails Jinchuriki. Utakata sensed the incoming threat just in time, floating away backward to evade the projectile with surprising agility.
Ao's clones had already detected, but with the battle raging on the ground so intensely they had no time to report the anomaly to the elites in combat.
Exploiting the sudden pause, Fuguki reached into his robes grabbed a dark pill and crushed it. An ash-like gray substance materialized out of nothing, spinning into a vortex as dust and earth coalesced around a rising point, rapidly solidifying, and hardening into a distinct human silhouette.
As the grey particulate fell away, the figure's facial features were apparent... standing before them was Kagami Uchiha. His skin was deathly pale covered in crack-like fissures, and his eyes bore the hollow sclera of the Edo Tensei.
