Chapter 345 - The Hidden Weapon

The towering, silver-white archways of the Providence Hub stood as they had days ago, glowing with the light of millions of intersecting runic formations. The gates served as the primary threshold between the intergalactic void and the bustling sanctuary of the Outer Commercial Continents.

Standing amidst the endless ocean of wandering cultivators, independent merchants, and minor sect delegates, Adrian, Mariska, and Xeolze blended into the crowd.

There were no wings trailing behind Mariska, nor the intimidating pitch-black armor encasing Xeolze. Through direct command, their physical appearances and mana signatures had been completely altered. To the scanning arrays and the armored guards stationed at the gate, they appeared as nothing more than three ordinary cultivators at the Mid Rule Stage, seeking rest and trade within the hub.

As they reached the front of the queue, one of the guards extended a metal tablet toward them. "Names, cultivation stages, and faction affiliation," the guard asked, his tone weary from repeating the same questions thousands of times.

Adrian responded with three random aliases he had prepared during the journey and named an obscure faction.

The guards assumed them to be a drifter faction and didn't press them anymore, other than asking for entry fees.

Adrian accessed his spatial ring and retrieved three small, condensed mana crystals equivalent to the requested amount. He tossed it lightly to the guard.

In return, the guard tossed them three dull grey metal tokens without a second glance, gesturing for them to move along and make way for the thousands waiting behind them.

Adrian caught the tokens and led Mariska and Xeolze through the towering archway.

"They allowed us inside far too easily," Adrian thought as the dense ambient mana of the Providence Hub washed over him. He had expected the heightened security to have weakened after several days, but he had not anticipated the gates returning to such complete indifference.

The clash in the Inner Continent had involved the Sect Leader herself, four Astral Stage elders had been rendered unconscious, and an unknown Anchor-stage cultivator had escaped after attacking Tenyz and abducting two enemies of the sect. Even if the hub's commercial interests forced the Ethereal Providence Sect to reduce the most oppressive restrictions, Adrian had assumed that unknown factions would still face deeper verification.

Instead, they had entered with fabricated identities belonging to an invented organization and received only the same cursory inspection as every other wanderer.

"Something feels strange," Adrian thought as they stepped fully into the Outer Commercial Continents.

Inside, the Outer Commercial Continents were as sprawling as usual.

Mariska looked around, her hands tightening into fists. Just days ago, the Inner Continents had been a warzone. Adrian had a clash against the sect leader Navira, and the sky had literally fractured from their fight. Yet now, it was as if nothing had ever happened.

"They don't even care," Mariska whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of disbelief and rage. "The sky cracked open days ago... and they are just trading and laughing."

"This is the reality of a Major Sect's territory, Mariska," Adrian replied quietly, not breaking his steady pace as he guided them down a crowded avenue. "The Providence Hub is simply too massive. To the millions of wanderers here, whatever happens in the Inner Continents is just a storm passing over the mountain. As long as the market remains open and the trade flows, they have no reason to care about the blood spilled in the spire."

Xeolze walked closely behind them, "Senior is right, Princess. We must remain calm. The fact that the Outer Continents have returned to their normal state works in our favor. We are invisible here."

Adrian nodded slightly, but he kept feeling something was not right.

Deep within the Providence hub, near the void of the central spire, space folded, and a lone figure stepped through.

He was a lean humanoid, his skin a mesmerizing, half-transparent silver that seemed to exist between the physical realm and the illusory void. He wore elegant, unadorned purple robes.

After days of travel, Androxus had finally arrived at the Providence hub.

He drifted downward, passing through the reinforced ceilings of the golden spire. Within, Navira and Tenyz, who were already waiting for him, knelt as Androxus arrived.

Upon looking at Androxus, Navira suppressed a gasp, forcing her trembling consciousness to remain stable. She recognized this feeling immediately. It was the Anchor stage of consciousness mastery.

But this... this was entirely different from herself. Androxus's willforce was like a perfectly forged blade pressing against the center of her mind. He was at the Anchor stage like herself, yes, but he had spent long years refining it under the guidance of a Great Sect. His control over his mental weight was absolute, bordering on the legendary third stage, the Weave.

"Rise," Androxus commanded.

Navira and Tenyz stood slowly, keeping their eyes respectfully lowered.

"Greetings, Envoy," Navira said, her voice steady despite the lingering terror in her chest. "We are honored by your arrival."

Androxus walked past them, trailing a hand lightly across the edge of a golden table. He did not look at them as he spoke. "My master Damian informed me of your... unfortunate encounter. He sends his regards, and his assurance that the honor of his bloodline will not be trampled by a rogue anomaly."

Tenyz's fists clenched at his sides. "That bastard humiliated us in our own home. We tried to find his origins, but—"

"But your mother attempted to scry the fate of a being shielded by the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion," Androxus interrupted, his silver eyes finally shifting to lock onto Tenyz. "A foolish endeavor. You are fortunate that the backlash only fractured your array and did not shatter your Astral Core."

Navira bowed her head slightly. "I acted in haste, Envoy. I believed we were facing an existential threat from an ancient entity. I had to know if the boy was connected to it."

"He is," Androxus stated flatly, taking a seat at the head of the chamber. "The anomaly you faced is a junior, likely a pawn sent by an Elder of the Pavilion to sow chaos in my master's old territory."

Androxus leaned back, steepling his silver fingers together. "But a mere junior is nothing but a blunt instrument that can easily be broken if you know where to strike."

Navira frowned slightly, stepping closer. "With respect, Envoy, he may be a junior, but his techniques are unfathomable. He copied my willforce technique after seeing it once. He possesses physical speed that surpasses ours. How do we track someone like that when divination is off the table and he can mask his presence in a hub of trillions?"

A cold smile spread across Androxus's half-transparent face.

"We don't track him," Androxus replied softly. "Hunting a prey that is actively hiding, especially one shielded by the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion, is a waste of time and resources. It gives the prey the advantage of terrain and initiative."

He lowered his hands to the armrests, "Instead of searching the dark, we light a fire and force the prey to walk directly into the flames."

Tenyz blinked, confusion mingling with his lingering anger. "A trap? But if he is as cautious as he is powerful, why would he willingly walk into a trap?"

"Because he has a weakness," Androxus said, "My master analyzed the reports of your clash. This anomaly didn't come to the Inner Continents to steal our wealth, to claim our artifacts, or to conquer our territory. He came, fought an Anchor-stage sovereign, and risked his life... for a handful of winged slaves."

Androxus let out a soft, mocking chuckle. "He is burdened by attachments. He suffers from the pathetic, mortal delusion of heroism. That is a glaring, fatal flaw."

He stood up from his chair, his tall frame casting an imposing shadow across the chamber. "You have the Elyrian Crown Prince imprisoned in your subterranean levels, do you not?"

"We do," Navira confirmed, her eyes narrowing as she began to see the shape of the envoy's plan.

"Excellent," Androxus said. "We will not keep him hidden any longer. Issue a public decree across the entire Providence Hub. Broadcast it to every Outer Commercial Continent, every auction house, and every minor sect delegate."

Androxus stepped closer to Navira, his voice dropping into a chilling register. "Announce a 'Grand Refinement.' State that the Ethereal Providence Sect will publicly execute and refine the Elyrian Crown Prince in the central plaza of the Inner Continent to serve as a demonstration of what happens to those who defy your rule. Make it a spectacle. Invite the masses to watch from the perimeter barriers."

Tenyz's eyes widened, a vicious grin slowly spreading across his face. "He came for the slaves once. If we put the Crown Prince on a public chopping block, he will come again..."

"Yes," Androxus agreed. "He will walk through our front gates, straight into the open plaza, entirely of his own volition."

Navira considered the strategy, her mind parsing the risks. "It is a brilliant lure, Envoy. But when he arrives, he will be prepared for a fight. He will expect me. He knows my domain, he knows my willforce techniques, and he will undoubtedly have devised countermeasures since our last exchange."

"Exactly," Androxus replied, his smile widening. "He expects you. He expects an enraged sect leader, a predictable array of defensive formations, and an army of lesser elders he can easily slaughter."

Androxus turned toward the viewing port, looking out over the glittering expanse of the Hub. "But he does not expect me."

"In the art of war, the greatest advantage one can possess is the element of the unknown," Androxus lectured, his tone almost philosophical. "This boy believes he understands the power structure of this Hub. He thinks he has measured the ceiling of the Ethereal Providence Sect. He has absolutely no clue that a disciple of a Great Sect is currently standing in this room."

Androxus slowly clenched his fist, the space around his knuckles warping and cracking under the sheer, localized density of his Anchor-stage willforce.

"When he steps into that plaza, you will engage him, Navira. You will draw his attention, force him to commit his authority, and make him believe he is fighting the final boss of this hub. And in the very middle of that clash, when his concentration is entirely locked onto you..."

Androxus's silver eyes flashed with lethal intent.

"...I will strike from his blind spot. I will use one of my willforce techniques that will collapse his mind, and chain him to the floor before he even realizes another player has entered the board."

Navira's eyes gleamed with renewed fervor. The plan was flawless. It leveraged the enemy's emotional attachments, controlled the terrain of the battlefield, and utilized the ultimate trump card of information asymmetry.

"It shall be done as you command, Envoy," Navira said, bowing deeply. "I will have the administrative elders draft the decree immediately. In a few hours, every soul in the Providence Hub will know of the Grand Refinement."

"See that you do," Androxus murmured, turning his gaze back to the sprawling metropolis below.
