Chapter 103 Luckily, Not Superpowered

Hearing Xi Nian's words—

The smile on Gwen's pretty face disappeared. She couldn't help but punch him lightly on the shoulder, the strength deliberately held back so much that it felt even lighter than a normal girl's punch.

"Hmph!"

Gwen huffed, clearly annoyed, her black boots tapping against the pavement as she strode past Xi Nian with nimble steps, her entire being brimming with youthful energy.

Watching the way her skirt swayed as she ran and leapt forward, the long fair legs beneath so lively and radiant—

Xi Nian suddenly remembered the incredible sensation he had felt on the school bus. The touch was even better than it looked: vibrant, smooth, and soft…

"Should I make it up to you?" Xi Nian blurted without thinking. The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted them.

Up ahead, Gwen's cheeks flushed bright red, a faint steam practically rising from her golden hair. Clearly, she too recalled the incident on the bus. Even with her usual composure, she couldn't maintain calm.

"You just want me to bite you again, don't you?!" Gwen gritted her teeth, glaring at him.

"Being bitten by a beautiful spider-girl isn't so bad," Xi Nian shrugged, playing it cool for once.

"I won't bite you. Don't make me sound so violent." Gwen scoffed, but her delicate face quickly shifted from gloomy to cheerful.

So easy to coax…

Xi Nian dared not say that out loud. Glancing around, he noticed pedestrians giving them strange looks.

He quickly suggested, "Uh… can we maybe not talk about biting in public?"

Gwen hesitated, her face still pink. Then she suddenly walked back toward him, cupped her hands like a megaphone, leaned close to his ear, and whispered reluctantly:

"If you really want to touch… come to my place this weekend."

Now that's a real partner in crime!

Xi Nian had to admit—at that moment, his heart wavered completely.

But soon after, his expression turned bitter.

Because if he really did go… Gwen's police officer father might not be able to restrain himself from drawing his gun!

…

On the way, Xi Nian and Gwen walked together toward the school.

Xi Nian carried something new today that quickly caught Gwen's attention.

"Xi Nian, what's that?"

Her gaze fell on the little glass jar hanging from the zipper of his backpack. Inside was a jellyfish-like pink creature the size of a golf ball. It looked cute and harmless, floating lightly with each step he took.

"Oh, that's… Jarro. Just a decoration," Xi Nian said casually.

"Who are you calling a decoration?"

An unseen thought-voice rang out in Xi Nian's mind.

Meanwhile, back at his empty home—

A slightly larger glass tank sat in the corner of the balcony. A palm-sized starfish lay inside, basking in the warm sunlight. Suddenly, it opened its central blue eye.

Yes.

The jellyfish-like creature dangling from Xi Nian's backpack was one of Starro's split forms—a clone that served as both a psychic receiver and a pair of eyes on the outside world.

Having been trapped in Jotunheim for so long, Starro insisted on sending a fragment with Xi Nian so it could finally see the outside world again.

The world is vast, and it wanted to experience it.

…

Walking side by side, Xi Nian and Gwen entered the campus.

He swept a glance around. The teaching and administrative buildings had already been renovated, with everything looking fresh and new. But after the Lizard incident, the atmosphere on campus still carried unease.

Many instructors and professors were either missing or had resigned, leaving a huge gap in staff.

So, during the first class of the morning—

As Xi Nian expected—

The burly instructor Lot Harrington walked onto the stage, carrying his usual water bottle with a silver-haired goddess sticker on it. Once again, he was here to introduce a new assistant instructor.

"Now, let's warmly welcome Miss Felicia, your new assistant instructor!"

Amid Lot's enthusiastic announcement and the students' clapping, a young woman with rare silver-white hair hurried onto the stage.

She looked to be around twenty-two years old, wearing a neat white blouse with black slacks and low-heeled boots. Her fair ankles peeked out, and an assistant teacher's badge hung on her chest.

Her features were delicate and gentle, her figure tall and slim. She was no less stunning than Natasha, the instructor who had only taught for a few days previously.

The difference was that unlike Natasha's mature charm, this new instructor's youthful face betrayed her inexperience, making her look shy and a bit awkward.

Simply put, she looked less like a teacher and more like the pretty, long-legged older sister from next door.

Taking a deep breath, Felicia introduced herself nervously:

"Hello, everyone. My name is Felicia Hardy. From now on, I'll be assisting Mr. Lot as your assistant instructor. Please take care of me!"

"Hello, Teacher Felicia!" many students greeted warmly. Some even whistled, leaving her flustered.

"Hahaha," Lot laughed, helping her out. "Instructor Felicia is still a student at State University, just interning here. Think of her as your senior sister—so don't bully her."

As Lot continued speaking—

Xi Nian, sitting below, leaned closer to whisper, "Jarro, does she have superhuman abilities?"

A thought-voice quickly answered from the jellyfish-like glass charm on his bag:

"No. She's just a normal human."

"You're sure?" Xi Nian pressed, recalling the last incident.

"There's no mistake. She really is just a human." Jarro's split body confirmed.

Unlike Gwen, who could only rely on her Spider-Sense, Starro could directly gauge the strength of someone's spirit and determine whether they possessed extraordinary powers.

Back in its prime, Starro could even peer straight into people's thoughts.

"That's good," Xi Nian exhaled in relief. Right now, his only requirement for an assistant instructor was simple: as long as they weren't superpowered, it was fine.

After finishing her self-introduction, Felicia quietly stood off to the side, diligently taking notes, looking every bit the part of an ordinary intern teacher.

Lot then added, "Oh, and the school has contacted a new professor. His name is Adrian Toomes. He's a famous electronics engineer in New York and will temporarily take over your chemistry lab classes…"

Xi Nian only half-listened, not really paying attention. For someone who actually wanted to study properly, as long as the new professor didn't suddenly transform into a giant lizard, sprout mechanical tentacles, or turn into a man-eating panther woman, it was fine.

That's not too much to ask, right?
