Chapter 100 Aunt, Eternal Goddess
Washington, late at night, at home.
Xi Nian sat on a chair, his eyes lighting up as he watched Wanda carry out a plate of Italian-style stir-fried pasta from the kitchen. His heart was filled with gratitude.
As expected of a maid who had already begun professional butler training. Even after what had just happened in the bathroom, she hadn't dragged him to the police station. Instead, while he was showering and changing into clean clothes, she had gone to the kitchen to specially prepare him a late-night meal.
Though the three-in-one fusion had devoured plenty today, most of it had been consumed into the Devourer's dimension.
His real body was actually starving. Seeing Wanda carefully place the pasta on the table in front of him, Xi Nian spoke with guilt: "Wanda, about earlier in the bathroom…"
The red-haired girl's face instantly turned crimson. She quickly cut him off, "Don't mention it again!"
"Young master, you're a big bad guy!" Wanda, the scarlet maid, huffed angrily and tossed that line at him before storming off toward the living room sofa where Diana sat.
Xi Nian turned to his Aunt Diana, silently asking for help.
But Diana acted as if she hadn't noticed. She sat gracefully on the sofa, quietly flipping through an ancient text. Her demeanor was calm, but her silence clearly conveyed: this was Xi Nian's own fault.
Both women of the household were ignoring him.
Xi Nian sighed. With no other choice, he picked up his fork, added the beef sauce, and started wolfing down the steaming hot pasta.
Seeing him eat so ravenously, Wanda—pretending to watch TV—couldn't help sneaking a glance, guessing he hadn't eaten properly all day. She quickly pulled her eyes back to the screen, cheeks pink.
Diana, meanwhile, remained focused on her book, seemingly unconcerned. Yet at some point, her sword-sharp brows had knit together ever so slightly.
Halfway through the pasta, Xi Nian muttered, "Feels like it's getting colder again. Nights have been chilly lately."
He added under his breath, "If only someone could help warm up the bed."
That wasn't even a hint anymore—it was basically a confession out loud.
But on the living room sofa, one tall and one petite figure both acted as if they hadn't heard. One kept reading, the other kept "watching" TV. Not a single response came.
Xi Nian gave up, burying his head back into the plate, shoveling noodles into his mouth.
…
Sunday, late at night.
The living room was completely dark, the night flowing in silence.
In his own room, Xi Nian sat on the bed, staring at the tightly shut door.
Nothing. No sounds.
Ten minutes passed like that.
"They really aren't coming…" Xi Nian sighed, lying back in exhaustion. But moments later, he sat bolt upright again.
"Well, if they won't come to me, then I'll just go to them."
Grinning, Xi Nian scooped up Xiao Huang, who was dozing beside him, tucked his pillow under his arm, slipped into his slippers, and tiptoed toward the door.
The living room was pitch black.
Careful not to disturb Wanda in the next room, he crept along, hand brushing the wall, until he reached his Aunt Diana's door.
His eyes lit up.
Her door wasn't closed. It was left ajar, a sliver of soft lamplight spilling through the gap.
…
At the same time, as the first room's door quietly shut, the third room's door slowly opened.
A doll-like red-haired girl stepped out, hugging a small pillow. Dressed in long-sleeved white winter pajamas, her petite frame carefully padded across the carpet in fluffy slippers.
She silently made her way to Xi Nian's door.
Taking a deep breath, Wanda clenched her fists like she was cheering herself on. Determination flashed in her eyes as she gently pushed open his door.
But the moment she entered, she froze.
The room was dark and empty. The bed was cold and unoccupied.
…
Inside the first room.
Xi Nian entered, carrying Xiao Huang and his pillow. He immediately saw his Aunt Diana sitting against the headboard. Her long, lustrous black hair spilled freely over her right shoulder like a waterfall, framing her flawless features. She wore only a thin white long-sleeved blouse that clung gently to her elegant frame.
The warm yellow light from the bedside lamp outlined her delicate profile and graceful figure with a soft halo.
"You're here?" Diana set aside her book, her calm gaze falling on the boy.
"Auntie, my room's too cold," Xi Nian said casually, blinking innocently.
"Come quickly then, it's already warm." Diana's face remained composed as she lightly patted the space beside her under the covers.
Kicking off his slippers, Xi Nian climbed up with his cat and pillow, lifting the corner of the duvet to slip into the bed right next to her.
The bed, warmed by a demigoddess's body, was perfectly comfortable, carrying a faint violet fragrance unique to her. For a moment, Xi Nian wanted nothing more than to close his eyes and drift into sleep.
Wait!
He quickly shook himself awake. He hadn't come just for a warm bed—there was something important he needed to tell her.
"Auntie, listen to me…"
Xi Nian gathered his focus and explained everything from the morning—how Xiao Huang had asked him for help, to discovering the alien being Starro, to the entire ordeal.
He told her about leaving the Venom mark on Harley Quinn, accidentally blasting Iron Man, and freeing four high-level prisoners from Dream Prison.
"So that's how it was," Diana's eyes glimmered with wisdom as she listened. She absorbed every detail, analyzing his choices while filling in the gaps in his story.
"The Guardian Bracelet—you need to keep one with you. Otherwise, I can't sense your location in time." Diana raised her hand, revealing a silver bracelet in her palm.
Previously, when the Amazons had lit their signal fires, Xi Nian had returned the bracelet to her, since the pair only worked at full strength when together.
Seeing the seriousness on her face, Xi Nian didn't refuse. He slipped the bracelet back onto his wrist.
Diana continued, "As for Iron Man, Tony Stark—he's like Batman, a wealthy titan. Losing two suits won't matter much. What matters is that you must be more cautious using the three-in-one state. Not only will heroes like Stark target you, but your own mindset becomes dangerously unstable in that form."
Xi Nian nodded solemnly.
This second fusion had been far riskier than the first. Fortunately, Iron Man had been there, acting as a punching bag to vent his spiraling emotions.
"As for those four criminals," Diana said, "I'll remember them. I'll have Batman keep a close watch. If they don't cause trouble, there's no need to act yet. If they do, I'll send them back to prison myself."
"That's good." Xi Nian let out a breath of relief. Then suddenly, he remembered something important.
Reaching over, he stroked the little orange cat curled beside his hand.
Without hesitation, he said, "Xiao Huang, release one of Starro's clones. Auntie and I need to have a word with it!"
