Chapter 92 The Beauty and Violence of Extremes
On top of the mansion!
The rebel soldiers guarding the rooftop stared blankly for a second or two as they saw the military helicopter spiraling out of control, crashing straight toward the open landing platform. Then, panic-stricken, they scattered in all directions!
Inside the tumbling helicopter, the cabin was filled with angry shouts.
"Damn it, didn't you say you've flown before?!"
"I did! In a simulator…"
"..." The cabin went quiet for a beat.
"Everyone bail out!"
Just before the helicopter slammed into the platform, five or six figures leapt from both sides of the cabin.
Two of them were strangely dressed young women—one clutching an unconscious black rat, the other pressing a little black cat tightly to her chest. Behind them, King Shark Nanaue jumped after them, using his wide blue-and-white palms to steady their fall mid-air.
The helicopter, meanwhile, crashed violently onto the rooftop platform. Its high-speed rotor blades sliced across the rooftop, instantly shredding several soldiers who hadn't escaped in time. Blood and flesh rained across the platform.
Crack!
Sparks flew as the metal frame scraped against the platform floor. With unstoppable inertia, the helicopter slammed into the side of the building, exploding into a massive crimson fireball!
Boom!!
The shockwave and flames tore outward. The officials and guards inside the mansion were shaken, and even civilians miles away in the city saw the fiery blast.
Captain Robert rolled across the scorched rooftop, quickly getting to cover as he looked down to see waves of rebel soldiers pouring out from the mansion below.
He sighed helplessly. "Well, now we're completely exposed."
The original plan was to sneak in from the jungle, blend into the city, and quietly infiltrate the research facility.
But thanks to the little black cat, they'd gone straight from the starting line to the mission's endpoint.
What should have taken two or three days now took barely an hour or two.
Beside him, Peacemaker gazed coldly at the soldiers below, pulling out a battle axe. "Why waste time? Just kill them all."
"You've got a point." Captain Robert shrugged, raising his heavy-caliber guns with both hands.
Down below—
King Shark Nanaue landed heavily in the mansion's courtyard, his massive frame sinking into the soil. Still holding up his hands, he carefully set down Ratcatcher II Cleo Cazo and Harley Quinn safely on the ground.
As for the black kitten pressed against Harley's chest—
Even a fall from such a height couldn't harm it. Nestled against Harley, cushioned and protected, Xi Nian in his three-in-one form peeked out a tiny head from beneath her jacket.
At that moment—
Thud!
Another figure fell from the sky, crashing straight into the fountain with a splash. It was Abner Krill, the Polka-Dot Man. He landed face-first in the water, floating lifelessly.
…Dead on impact.
"Can we eat him?" Nanaue scratched his head curiously, staring at the body in the fountain.
"He's poisonous. Better not, it'll mess with your brain." Ratcatcher II patted his shoulder to comfort him.
Tat-tat-tat!!!
Gunfire erupted from the rooftop and windows. The rebels had already engaged Captain Robert's team.
"Enemies on the roof! And in the courtyard!"
A squad of rebels spotted Xi Nian's group and rushed forward, guns blazing.
"Food!" King Shark's eyes burned as he charged straight at them. Bullets pinged harmlessly off his thick hide, only slowing his pace slightly.
Boom!
Nanaue spread his arms wide like a living tank, slamming into the terrified soldiers and smashing through the wall behind them in a spray of blood, barging straight into the mansion interior.
Ratcatcher II glanced at Harley. "I can't stay too close to you, or I won't be able to use my powers properly."
"Whatever." Harley giggled, stepping forward as the little cat bounced against her chest. She scooped a gun off the ground. "Guess I'm teaming up with kitty then."
"Uh… good luck." Cleo hesitated, casting a glance at the cat nestled against Harley before hurrying off with her rat.
Without hesitation, Harley climbed through a window into the mansion, Xi Nian still in her arms.
The ground floor hall was littered with blood and bullet holes, but few corpses remained—Nanaue had already taken care of most of them.
Harley, holding her gun, showed not an ounce of fear. Instead, she beamed with joy as she dashed up the spiral staircase to the second floor.
The moment she reached the landing, a squad of rebel soldiers turned the corner.
They froze at the sight of the crazy clown makeup and outrageous outfit.
In the next instant, Harley mowed them down in a hail of bullets.
Blood splattered, flesh shredded.
Faster, deadlier, crazier than anyone else—
Harley grinned wide, savoring the ecstasy of slaughter, radiating a terrifying beauty and violence in equal measure. Her heels clicked across the bloody corpses strewn across the corridor.
In the grand hall of the second floor—
Only one man remained.
A tall officer in a decorated military uniform, his chest heavy with medals.
General Silvio Luna, the current ruler of Corto Maltese and commander of the rebel forces.
He held a gold-trimmed pistol, but the moment he saw Harley enter, his face lit up with excitement. He lowered his weapon, unable to contain himself. "Harley Quinn! I've admired you for so long!"
"Really?" Harley blinked.
"Of course! Look!" Silvio pointed to a red dress hanging on a rack in the hall. "I prepared this for you! To think I'd meet you here—"
Bang!!
A bullet pierced his forehead mid-sentence. His eyes went wide, staring blankly at Harley before his lifeless body collapsed to the floor.
"An admirer, huh? Well, you were gonna die here anyway, might as well let me be the one to do it." Harley laughed carelessly, tossing away her empty gun and picking up Silvio's golden pistol instead.
"But this dress really is gorgeous." Her eyes lit up at the sight of the red gown. She placed the pistol aside, reached for her dirty top, and began to strip without hesitation.
The faint sound of a zipper slid down. Fabric slipped from her pale legs and dropped to the floor.
Xi Nian, in the form of a black kitten, hopped from her chest to a nearby table. His ghostly blue eyes glowed as he quietly watched.
Jacket, shorts, fishnet stockings—all fell to the ground, revealing Harley's lithe and voluptuous figure.
He didn't avert his gaze.
Xi Nian simply observed her with the detached eyes of someone regarding a striking humanoid pet.
