Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Towering Flame

Chapter 84: That Towering Flame

The Scarlet Maid looked like a little kitten, half-lying across the sofa as if asking for a reward.

With a trace of fondness, Xi Nian placed his hand on her head. As he gently stroked, his palm brushed against the white semi-transparent scarf and her silky scarlet hair, the sensation surpassing even that of Xiao Huang's fur, indescribably pleasant.

Wanda's flawless face flushed faintly. Sensing Xi Nian's deliberate gentleness, her head instinctively rubbed upward to increase the contact, until she tilted it slightly, allowing his hand to slide through her smooth hair and graze the warmth of her cheek.

Compared to the praise of dozens, even hundreds back in Gotham, it was clear she longed more for Xi Nian's reward and praise.

"Alright, let's eat the cake." Xi Nian quickly pulled his hand back as if shocked, forcing himself to sound calm.

Wanda's cheeks were red like fresh fruit, glowing with life. Energized, she bounced off the sofa and went to the table, where she unwrapped the cheesecake box. Using the disposable knife and fork provided, she cut a slice and soon returned with a plate in hand.

"Master, please taste it first."

As if slipping into her maid persona, dressed in her red gown, Wanda softly offered the cake with proper etiquette.

"You should eat too." Xi Nian hurriedly accepted it. He feared if he delayed, Wanda might actually try to feed him directly.

They ate the cheesecake together.

While watching TV, Xi Nian glanced at her and said, "This dress is fine to wear outside. But that white scarf on your head and neck… better not wear it out."

A red dress alone was nothing unusual. But paired with the submissive aura of a white scarf—

It stirred an urge to dirty it.

"This… I only put it on after I got home, at the door," Wanda said softly, nibbling her cake and tugging shyly at the scarf, her cheeks red. "No one else has seen it."

Xi Nian took a deep breath and set down his empty plate.

Unbearable.

"Master," Wanda suddenly said, stepping forward quickly. She reached out and gently wiped the corner of his lips.

Seeing the bit of white cheesecake on her fingers, she leaned down like a kitten and licked it away. Almost instantly, she realized how improper that was, her eyes flashing with panic as she stammered an apology.

"Go take your bath," Xi Nian urged quickly.

Only after Wanda disappeared into the bathroom did Xi Nian let out a long breath, his heart pounding hard.

So charming already—what would she become when she grew older?

Just then, the door opened again.

Xi Nian looked up, and his eyes lit up in surprise.

Her black hair was tied up neatly, her lashes long, her features sharp and beautiful. Wearing a fitted white office uniform, a mature beauty walked inside. She slipped off her black high heels at the carpet and placed them neatly beside Wanda's earlier boots.

No matter how many times he saw her, his aunt was always so graceful and stunning—her contained elegance a contrast to Wanda's dazzling charm.

"Auntie." Xi Nian stood up quickly and walked toward her.

"What happened?" Diana asked, curious, meeting his heated gaze.

Xi Nian's breathing quickened as he said nervously, "I want to hand in tonight's homework early."

Diana's body trembled slightly. Though she had grown accustomed to these nightly "lessons," the suddenness today caught her completely unprepared.

"Auntie, is that alright?"

Faced with his earnest question, Diana opened her mouth, then finally gave a small nod. She could not refuse.

With permission granted, Xi Nian wasted no time. He stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her slender waist, and when her body instinctively leaned in, he lowered his head.

Like a rehearsed play, they soon embody their heated roles.

Impatient, he pressed his lips against hers. It was his first advance towards his lovely Aunt. A small nervousness settled in his kiss, biting her lower lip.

Her demi-god body felt no pain, but the sensation was unlike anything she had ever experienced.

Diana's bright eyes revealed helplessness and a touch of enchantment, yet also worry that without guidance Xi Nian might hurt himself. She swore to teach him even more.

…

When Wanda emerged from her bath, she found the two of them calmly watching TV on the sofa. She exclaimed happily, "Miss Diana, you're back!"

"Yes, just now," Diana smiled gently and asked, "How was your training in Gotham today?"

"Very good! Teacher Alfred really is the world's best butler. I've learned so much from him," Wanda replied quickly, before her curious gaze shifted toward Xi Nian. He was slumped on the sofa like a salted fish, his hair now turned a silver sheen.

"It's nothing, I'm just reflecting," Xi Nian muttered weakly, knowing what Wanda was thinking.

Tonight's homework had gone a little overboard.

…

Xi Nian, Diana, and Wanda sat together on the sofa, watching TV like a family of three.

If not for what had just happened, the scene would have been perfectly warm.

Around ten that night, as they prepared to sleep, the TV suddenly broadcast strange news:

"This is a live report from Crete Island. Behind me, just kilometers away, flames are soaring into the sky."

"The ancient ruins of the Amazon Temple, a site with over a thousand years of history, have caught fire! The blaze has raged for an entire day. The authorities and locals are stunned, with no explanation for the cause…"

On the screen, a white stone temple burned fiercely, fire consuming its exterior and interior, flames blazing into the night sky like a beacon.

Amazon Temple?

Xi Nian's heart skipped as he turned toward Diana.

Her face grew solemn. She gave him a discreet nod.

After Wanda retired to her room, Xi Nian quietly entered his aunt's room. She had already changed into her Wonder Woman armor.

"That was a warning from Themyscira. It means an enemy has invaded!" Wonder Woman said quickly. "I need to go to the Amazon Temple and investigate."

"I'll go with you." Xi Nian's silver divine eyes glowed faintly as he spoke in a low voice.

"Alright." Wonder Woman nodded in agreement.

…

That night, on Crete Island at the Amazon Temple.

While countless government workers struggled desperately to extinguish the fire, no one noticed two figures descending from the sky into the ruins below.
