Chapter 62: Joining the Battle, Turning the Tide

Step!

Xi Nian landed on the thirteenth-floor window like a bolt of silver lightning.

With a casual wave of his hand, the alien drones that had survived inside the room were instantly torn apart by a burst of green magnetic energy! Countless shards of metal embedded themselves deep into the walls.

Seeing Spider-Woman frozen in place, Xi Nian teased lightly, "You alright? Still want to save the world, little spider?"

"Of course I'm fine!"

Facing Xi Nian, who looked as if he was wearing a matching spider suit with her, Gwen's heart pounded harder than it had during the fight itself. Beneath her mask, her cheeks flushed hot, and faint steam seemed to rise from the top of her head.

This hadn't happened before.

Under the instincts of her spider powers, Spider-Woman suddenly found herself wanting to… kiss him.

"Xi Nian…"

"Wait for me here. I'll take care of this quickly."

Xi Nian didn't notice her thoughts. He turned toward the window. Stark Tower was right in front of him.

…

At the top observatory of Stark Industries.

A massive piece of technology was set up here, its base connected to several thick energy conduits that ran deep into the building below.

Hovering above the device was a cube-like artifact, glowing and unstable. From within it, a torrent of blue energy burst upward into the heavens.

It was obvious.

This was the core strategic item causing the rift in the sky and the alien invasion.

At this moment, a Russian woman in a black tactical suit, her dark red hair cascading down her shoulders, briskly yanked out all the energy conduits from the device.

But even after three or four were pulled, the device holding the cube showed no sign of stopping.

"Damn it! Tell me how to shut it down!" Black Widow snapped at the S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist beside her.

The balding man with gold-rimmed glasses seemed dazed, his eyes flickering with strange black light. He muttered, "It's too late… there's no way to shut it off now…"

"Shit!" Black Widow cursed under her breath.

Just then—

A silver figure appeared on the top floor with a swish.

"Who are you?" Black Widow's hand instinctively went to her pistol as she stared at the mysterious figure clad in silver exoskeletal armor, tall and lean, with a spider emblem on his chest.

Xi Nian ignored her, his eyes locking onto the device and the cube radiating blue light.

He raised his hand, and with a simple clench from several meters away, the machine beneath the cube shattered apart in an instant!

Buzz!!

The cube reacted violently, sending out a wave of blue energy.

"Run!" Black Widow grabbed the scientist's arm, trying to drag him away.

But she quickly noticed something strange—Xi Nian hadn't moved.

As the wave of blue energy swept toward him, Xi Nian suddenly raised both hands. A surge of green magnetic tides roared outward!

Ssshhkk!!

The two forces clashed violently, blue energy against green tides, until both dissipated into nothing.

Black Widow stared at Xi Nian in shock. A thought struck her—if it was him, maybe he could stop this.

"It still won't stop?" Xi Nian muttered, looking at the cube.

Even without the machine, the cube continued to leak dangerous energy, feeding the beam into the sky.

Xi Nian tried something else. He lifted two fingers, shooting a strand of metallic web.

But the moment the web touched the cube's energy field, it was instantly disintegrated into dust.

Such terrifying energy…

Xi Nian frowned, spreading his palm as green magnetic energy flickered around each finger.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist gasped in awe, as if he were staring at God Himself. "To control such power… terrifying!"

Black Widow held her breath, watching Xi Nian closely.

He pressed his palm forward, unleashing magnetic force in its raw form.

Buzz!!!

The cube trembled, releasing even stronger energy, scattering the magnetic power aside.

No—

It wasn't scattering it.

Xi Nian's eyes sharpened. The energy from the cube wasn't just powerful—it carried spatial properties.

That complicated things.

While Xi Nian pondered, Black Widow suddenly said, "The scepter…"

"Hm?" Xi Nian glanced at her.

"Loki's scepter," she explained. "It might pierce the cube's energy shield."

"Who's Loki?" Xi Nian's distorted, electric-tinged voice made it impossible to guess he was just a high schooler.

Black Widow instinctively spoke with respect. "The god of mischief. He started this invasion. Thor is fighting him now."

"Describe him."

"Looks like a smug young man, golden horned helmet, cloak, carries a metal scepter with a gemstone."

Even as she spoke, Xi Nian fired strands of metallic webbing outward, closing his eyes to sense.

Almost immediately, his eyes snapped open. "Found him."

He pulled himself forward, launching from the tower like a silver streak, plummeting toward the city below.

…

In the heart of the battle.

Two armored figures tumbled from a thirty-meter platform, crashing hard into the street below.

The impact cracked the concrete, but neither seemed seriously injured. Their bodies were far beyond human.

The one clad in silver armor with a hammer lay groaning in pain, clutching at his abdomen. A small, ornate blade was lodged in his side.

"Thor, you're still so easy to fool," sneered the other figure—an elegant youth in golden horns. Loki.

Smiling wickedly, scepter glowing in hand, Loki leaned over him. "In the end, I win. Soon, I'll conquer this wor—"

But before he could finish his villain speech—

His scepter flew from his hand, yanked away by an unseen force.

"What—?!"

Snap!

The scepter flew straight into the grasp of Xi Nian, who had just descended like a silver comet.
