Chapter 29 - Spear of Longinus and Fury of the Wives

"Begone, you vile creatures!" a voice boomed, and a wave of pure holy light came attacking them both, taking them completely by surprise.

I instinctively moved, my body acting on its own.

I arrived before Eleanor and Iris, raising my hands and a shield made of pure mana just barely managing to obstruct the attack before it broke apart.

"Argh!" I felt the aftershock of the attack, a sharp, spiritual pain that made my soul feel like it was leaving my body.

I knelt, clutching my heart, which was beating so hard it might burst from my chest.

"Huff! Huff!" I gasped for air, and a chilling realization dawned on me.

That was an attack targeted at the soul of the victim.

"Good grief, you filthy maggots really are hard to kill," an annoyed voice uttered in sheer disgust.

I looked up to see a Beautiful woman with blindfolded eyes in a nun's outfit.

Beside her was a familiar old priest and a few similar priests, along with a suspicious hooded figure.

"Who the fuck are you? Some kind of cosplayer, huh?" I asked with a forced sarcasm, my heart still beating erratically.

This woman was bad news.

"Hmm, I don't know you. Are you a servant of one of these filthy creatures? But for some reason, I don't feel any filthiness from you," she uttered in confusion.

"Saintess! He is the one I told you about, the one who humiliated the clergy!" the old priest said, his words filled with a venom that made my blood run cold.

'Is that how you repay me for sparing you, huh?' I thought in helpless despair.

"So that was you, huh? Now that I remember, the man who was forced to marry these five 'filths' is supposed to be here. So it's also you, hmm? Are you really forced? I don't see it that way, with how you just saved them."

"Yes, I was forced. But which man will reject such beautiful women?" I said with a smile, hoping this was just a misunderstanding and things would resolve without a fight.

"Well, it doesn't matter, because for a human to forsake his humanity... I can't let such a traitor exist," she said, her voice turning cold.

She pointed her finger toward me, and a pure, blinding light began to gather around it.

But Alicia and Liliana stood in front of her.

Alicia had an ugly expression as she asked

"Saintess Aisha, I thought the Church already agreed to let this matter pass. So why are you attacking us?"

The woman who was now known as Saintess Aisha made a disappointed expression.

"I never agreed to what those old foggies agreed on. It's a blasphemy against the Lord to have his most beloved creation join with the filthy wastes," she said with utter coldness.

"How dare you?" Liliana said in a voice filled with anger.

"Don't you know my dad is the Devil? He will erase that church of yours if you keep this up!"

But Aisha just smirked.

"Dear daughter of the Fallen One, I know. He is not allowed to interfere with humans especially those who are directly under the name of the Lord."

Liliana's mouth shut, and she gritted her teeth in frustration.

"But you still can't harm my husband! He's mine!" Liliana declared, pulling out her whip.

It seemed that was the only weapon she had.

"Are you sure about fighting us, Saintess Aisha?" Alicia asked one final time.

Aisha just looked at them coldly.

"Then you leave me no choice." Alicia summoned a staff, and with a flick of her hand, the entire terrain changed into an icy wasteland.

"Daughter of the Fallen, Liliana, and daughter of the witches, Alicia, you could have escaped since you maggots have such an annoying ability.

Don't tell me you actually love that man?" Aisha muttered in calm curiosity, a look of disappointment on her face.

"Hmm, that's good. Because of your stupid love, I could eliminate five future threats."

She muttered, and a long, glowing spear materialized in her hands.

She held it with a reverence that was both terrifying and absolute.

"May the Lord grant me victory," she whispered, and kissed the spear's cold surface.

"Using the Church's most valued spear? Are you crazy?" Liliana spoke in disbelief.

"I am not crazy," Aisha replied, her voice as emotionless as her gaze.

"I know how hard it is to kill you filths. Even if I kill you, your soul would still return, which is a great pain for me."

"So, let me cleanse you with this holy spear... Longinus!"

As she said the name of the spear, her clothes changed in a flash of light, turning into a set of pristine white battle armor.

Her blindfold disappeared, revealing beautiful white, emotionless eyes.

With her white hair and glowing eyes, she looked like a cold goddess of war, ready to destroy everything in her path.

Alicia's gaze turned sharp, and with a tap of her staff on the icy surface, two huge ice giants emerged, their bodies a testament to her magical prowess.

"Go and stop that madwoman!" she commanded.

Liliana also didn't stay idle.

She ran forward to deal with the mobs, her whip in hand.

What? You didn't expect her to fight the big boss, did you? She already said she was weak.

"Alright, old men! Let me deal with you so you don't bother Alice!" she said, her whip snapping in the air as it wrapped around the old priests.

"Vile creature! Don't you dare use your cursed power!" they screamed, already caught in her whip's coils.

Liliana tilted her head in confusion.

'Wasn't it too easy?' she thought in disbelief.

She never knew her seemingly useless ability of charm was such a deadly weapon against men.

'Can I leave it to Alice?' I thought, barely recovering from the aftershock of the attack.

My heart still hammered against my ribs, but the pain in my soul was beginning to subside.

I looked behind me.

Eleanor and Iris were also waking up, dazed after recovering from the attack.

"What the heck?" Eleanor muttered, opening her eyes.

"Husband? Where?" Iris murmured in a daze, her eyes searching for me.

But both of their attention immediately turned towards me when they saw how badly wounded I was.

"Husband, you're hurt!" Iris exclaimed, her voice filled with panic.

"Darling, what happened to you? Who did it?" Eleanor's voice was laced with pure fear.

"No, I'm fine, but are you fine, Eleanor, Iris?" I smiled lightly, but the blood leaking from my lips only made them more scared.

"No, you're bleeding! How are you fine?" Eleanor cried out, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Yes! Don't lie, it's obvious you're injured," Iris nodded along.

Their eyes then turned towards the two women fighting, and they immediately realized what had happened.

"How dare that bitch!" Eleanor screamed, and her eyes turned dark.

Vines emerged from the ground and spread across the entire battlefield, a testament to her fury.

And a rapier formed from the vines and petals

She jumped up and grabbed the blade and with a crack on the icy surface, she attacked towards the woman in armor.

"I can't forgive anyone who hurts my mate!"

Iris growled like a beast, and her entire body transformed into a giant Wolf.

With silver fur and a menacing glare, she was a terrifying sight.

Lightning crackled around her figure, and with a howl, she joined the fight.

"Bitch! Die!" Eleanor screamed, slashing at the woman who was busy fighting against the combined attack of the ice giants.

Aisha easily parried the attack and dodged a strike from the giants.

But she didn't expect a huge wolf, clad in lightning, to come and bite at her from above.

A shield of pure light materialized around Aisha, just in time, protecting her from the blow.

"Good Lord, I was this close to being sent to heaven," she sighed in relief, a smirk on her face.

She giggled, taunting the three women before her.

"I guess you can't kill me, huh?"

Alicia frowned and warned her.

"Saintess, stop using that spear! It's not meant to be wielded by mortals. That weapon kills whoever uses it."

She waved her staff, launching countless ice spears toward Aisha, and continued explaining.

"Even its first wielder, the man it was named after, died after its first use," she said grimly.

But Aisha's smile only widened.

"The first wielder, Saint Longinus, died because of freeing the Son of the Lord from the mortal world," she said, her voice filled with fanaticism.

She pointed the spear towards the three of them.

"I am just dealing with a few pieces of scum in comparison."

She declared and launched the spear toward Alicia.

Alicia sighed again, a resigned look on her face.

"I guess I have no choice," she muttered.

She made her staff disappear and summoned a book that exuded a mystical, ancient aura.

"By the Power of this Grimoire, by the magic of this Heart, I command you: Answer my call, O Beast of Gevaudon, and rise!"
