Chapter 14 - The Falcons or the Shitheads

Noah, City of Von, 2067

"Is this the place?" Lucas says to Noah, who is sitting next to him.

Noah squints his eyes.

"I think so?"

Sitting in a small parking lot, Noah and Lucas look at a rundown building in front of them. The building has boarded-up windows, and trash is piled up around the outside. The other buildings in the area are the same. Boarded-up windows and trash piling around.

Some of the windows show signs of people still living in them. The lights are on, and you can hear people yelling for the most part, though windows usually show no sign of life.

Lucas looks over at Noah, confused.

"So just where the hell are we?"

Noah sighs.

"So you know how City of Von is broken up into two districts, with Luminara Square being the middle ground."

Lucas nods his head.

"The two districts are huge. As a matter of fact, the City of Von is really known as the region of Von. And there are sectors in the City of Von, mainly the second district. Sectors form when the city can no longer fund certain areas anymore."

Noah pauses and takes a quick breath.

"We are currently in a sector. The Falcon sector."

Lucas smirks.

"Ah, I see."

Now that they understand where they are, Lucas and Noah exit the vehicle and walk up to the seemingly abandoned building in front of them.

Lucas, with his hands in his pockets, raises his right eyebrow and glances at Noah.

"I'm going to ask again. Are you sure we are at the right place?"

Noah rubs his head and sighs.

"I mean, I think so. This is the location I was told to go to."

Lucas looks at Noah, even more confused.

"Who told you?"

Noah stares at the door in front of them, which is lit from behind.

Finally, Noah says:

"Someone in prison told me to go here if I ever needed help."

Lucas sighs, understanding that Noah won't tell him the prisoner's name.

After a while, Lucas gulps.

"I think we should enter now, instead of standing out here in the cold."

Noah nods his head.

Lucas leads the way by walking up to the door first. Lucas hesitantly puts his hand on the door handle.

Lucas jumps back with his hand in the air, his face annoyed.

"Fuck, why is the handle so cold! And why is it wet!"

Noah looks at Lucas with a blank stare and sighs. Noah walks up to the door and simply opens it.

Noah enters the building, and behind him follows Lucas, who is sticking his tongue out at him.

After entering the building, there is a narrow hallway with one light attached to the ceiling. At the end of the hallway, there is a set of stairs that go down.

Going slowly down the stairs, Lucas helps Noah step by step.

At the bottom, they are met with a door.

This time, Lucas actually takes the lead and pushes Noah aside.

Standing in front of the door, Lucas hesitantly opens it.

Behind the open door is a small dark room lit up by LED lights. There are three couches: one on the left wall as you enter, another in front of Noah and Lucas on the back wall, and one on the right wall.

A TV hangs above the couch on the right wall, which is playing loud music.

The smell in the room is like a bunch of teenage boys who just got done running.

On the floor of the room lies a bunch of stuff, including books, board games, and sports equipment.

Finally, there are three people in the room—each of them on a different couch.

After a while of awkwardness, a person finally speaks up:

"Who are you guys?"

Lucas starts to drip with sweat. And he reaches his arm around Noah, grabbing his shoulder.

And in a polite tone, he says:

"I'm Lucas, and the person next to me is Noah."

The three guys just stare at them.

A few seconds pass, and a voice comes from the left side of the room.

"How old are you guys?"

Lucas, unsure of Noah's age, just says his own.

"I am twenty years old."

Noah sighs.

"I am twenty-one years old."

The guy on the left side of the room laughs.

"You guys are about the same age as us."

The room fell silent again, and Noah and Lucas just get stared at by the three mysterious people in the room for a while.

After a while, Noah finally decides to end the awkwardness.

"We're here to see someone who goes by the name The Shark."

The guy on the left side of the room holds his hands together and starts to chuckle. The other two in the room follow his lead.

"The shark has been dead for years now."

Noah's face becomes perplexed. His mouth was slightly open, and his eyebrows raised somewhat. Lucas turns his head to Noah in surprise.

Noah and Lucas take a second to digest what they just heard.

After a couple of seconds, Noah throws his hands up in confusion.

"What do you mean, the Shark is dead?"

The guy on the left sighs.

"The Shark has been dead for a while now. Also, what do you need with the Shark?"

Noah rubs his head.

'Shit, I really needed to see the Shark, but now I can't.'

Finally, Noah talks:

"I would like to ask questions about what happened to the Shark, but I'm in a hurry right now. So do you think you guys can help me?"

The guy on the left waves his hand forward to Noah, telling him to keep talking.

Noah nods his head.

"I need help strengthening my body. I was attacked by someone strong."

Noah grabs hold of his wound with his right hand.

"I won't be able to use this body for what I need to do."

All three people look at Noah with confusion.

"It's impossible to strengthen an injured body." The guy on the left says.

The guy on the left continues:

"Although we can do something that could still benefit you."

Noah tilts his head to the side.

"You could either have us help you, or you can try a weapon, but I have to say a weapon isn't going to work for you."

Noah understands his situation. He knows he can't use a weapon right now due to his injury. His injury restricts movement that requires a good swing with a weapon. Noah is incapable of doing that.

Noah sighs.

"Fine, if my only option is using you guys, then I will do so, even though we just met. But I still have one question…"

Noah pauses:

"...Are you guys strong?"

All three of the guys chuckle.

"Of course, we're strong." The guy on the left says.

The guy on the left sighs.

"But you need to do something for us."

Not very trusting of the situation, Noah hesitates to answer immediately, but after some thought, he answers:

"What do you need us to do?"

The guy on the left smirks.

"There is a faction we need you to help take down."

The guy on the left suddenly gets serious.

"They go by the name Keepers. If you can help us take them down and prove yourself, we will help you."

Noah looks over to Lucas, who is shaking his head no. Noah sighs and thinks about how dangerous this task could get.

'Is it really worth helping them beat this group so we can get their help in return?'

Noah licks his lips.

"Deal. We help you. You help us."

The guy on the left smiles, then gets up and turns on a light, revealing what they look like.

The guy on the left introduces himself first.

"My name is Rooney Schmit, and I'm twenty years old."

Rooney has a big, round build with brown curly hair. He has brown eyes and no facial hair. He wears glasses and a watch on his right wrist. The clothes he's wearing are a brown sweatshirt and some blue jeans.

Rooney then points over to the guy sitting on the couch against the back wall.

The guy coughs.

"My name is Alexander Bell, and I'm nineteen years old."

Alexander Bell has brown, puffy hair. He has a big build, a build that makes him seem like he's done fighting his whole life. He also has green eyes and no facial hair. He's wearing a red zip-up jacket with black pants.

Finally, Alexander points to the last guy.

The last guy runs his hand through his hair.

"My name is Levi Stark, and I'm twenty-two years old."

Levi has black, slicked-back hair, and his build is skinnier compared to the others. Levis also has brown eyes and no facial hair. Levi is wearing a black hoodie with black pants.

Once the others have introduced themselves, Rooney stands up.

"Now that we are done with introductions, we as a group are called either…

Rooney pauses.

"...the Falcons or the Shitheads."

Noah and Lucas look at each other, giving a half smile.

Then Rooney smiles.

"I hope we can get along."
