Chapter 67 - Getting Back On The Road

After lamenting Nyx's choice of artifact to bind to his poor soul, Luck moved on to check the remaining skills he had gotten.

Lesser Regeneration was self-explanatory. It basically heightened the user's passive regenerative speed, and the awakener could further enhance it by actively pouring mana into it.

Cuts, lacerations, burns, e.t.c, were no longer a problem for him, meaning as long as he had mana, he would stay in top shape for as long as it lasts in a fight.

There were obvious drawbacks, though; otherwise, it wouldn't be called 'Lesser' Regeneration.

The regeneration speed was only more than slightly above the regular rate of an awakener of his rank, which was a lot by the way, considering the rate the goblin chief entered back into the fight in top shape.

Another limitation was that he couldn't regrow body parts. Limbs and organs would not grow back once completely destroyed, and they would stay that way unless he meets a mid-ranked healer or above.

But that was all. The skill was pretty useful. He could see how orcs had carved a territory for themselves on the continent, especially when they had the Regeneration skill, instead of the lesser version passed on to their half-breeds.

His next skill, Frenzy, was another skill that would be very beneficial for him.

The skill acted like a Berserk skill, only stronger, which was obvious since it was a skill that was bestowed upon him by a goddess.

When activated, it would increase all his stats by 50%, except his mana, which would increase by more than 80%.

His spellcasting would also improve, allowing him to cast spells that beings a rank above him would have trouble casting.

For ten minutes. Like Berserk, this boost in power was only possible for a short period. After that, he would have to suffer the consequences, which were having his stats halved for about an hour.

Also, Frenzy only worked for one darkness-related element at a time. So he had to choose one to enhance and seal away the rest.

This skill, although with several debilitating drawbacks, was a pleasant addition to his arsenal. After all, a sudden increase in strength of that magnitude could very well decide the outcome of a fight.

Unlike these two skills, in which he understood the essence of them with merely a brush over, the skill Devour gave him much trouble in comprehending.

All he understood from it was that it allowed him to 'swallow' any energy-related attack and convert it to energy beneficial to him.

(Which is great on its own.) Luck thought with a grin. He understood that this skill had more to it than met the eye. He had read that the bearer of the Sin of Gluttony, who was one of the most feared of the Seven Sins, had a skill similar to this.

Imagining himself eating attacks that could otherwise kill him, and using them for his benefit, made him feel giddy inside.

Luck shook his head slightly. Like he said, one step at a time. He would take his time understanding this skill, molding it until, at the very least, match the sin of Gluttony.

(No,) Luck thought with a grin. (I'll definitely surpass that.)

It may sound like arrogant words, since he was practically saying he was going to better a skill that had been around for centuries, but it was not, at least for him.

Nyx had hinted at his vast potential. Being the vessel of the entrance to a realm gave him immense talent, since a normal body or soul could not handle that type of pressure.

"Anyway," Luck looked at his summons, who had just finished piling his kills, bodies, cores, and all, into a considerably large heap.

Luck walked over to it as his shadow, now alive, wriggled and expanded, swallowing the entire heap whole. "I guess it's time to go."

The others had also finished gathering their loot and were waiting at the village outskirts for him.

"Let's get going then," Luke said as he summoned his lightning wolves. "We have to start moving, and fast, if we want to meet our time frame.

"Wait," Luck spoke suddenly, causing the others to glance at him in confusion, but they said nothing. They knew Luck would not try to waste time if this wasn't something important.

Luck closed his eyes and raised his hand as he manipulated his mana, causing a large magic circle to appear above them.

(OK, Luck, focus) Luck thought as he sank into his mind. It didn't take long to locate what he was after, since he had limited his search to objects that he understood completely.

(Now, just to imagine it piece by piece.) Luck thought dryly. The skill he was casting would make the major population of the world spit blood in frustration. It would only shine in the hands of a few. Those who sought to gain knowledge.

"Bone Construct: Wagon."

The circle shone brighter, as numerous bones descended from it, forming a whirlwind of bones that quickly began to arrange themselves piece by piece.

The group intensely observed the scene throughout the entire process, their mouths hanging open as they witnessed what they could only describe as surreal.

Luck was too focused to care as sweat dripped off his face. His eyes closed to increase concentration.

Minutes passed until the bones finally took shape, and the magi circle closed, leaving a skeletal-white wagon in all its glory.

"..."

*Thud*

Luck fell to his knees, his face dripping with sweat, and his breath hurried, breaking the silence that was imposed by the shock that the group currently felt.

(Damn! That took half my mana!)

The sudden drainage of his mana at high levels caused Luck fatigue. He already knew that a skill of that level would have a crazy mana expenditure. He just didn't expect it to be that crazy!

Luck's breathing finally began to slow down after a few seconds, as he slowly stood up, only to see his mates staring at him as if he'd grown a second head.

"What?"

"..."

Their eyes collectively twitched at their clueless teammate.

"What the fuck do you mean by 'what'?!" Harry practically screamed in his face. "You spawned a freakin wagon in the middle of nowhere, and with just magic!"

Luck raised a brow in confusion. "And?"

"Don't you 'and?' me! That shit ain't normal!"

"If you could do this, why didn't you just do it from the start?" Luke asked, genuinely confused.

"Isn't it obvious?" Terra remarked with obvious sarcasm. "He's a masochist and wanted us to join the 'fun'."

Luck's eye twitched in annoyance at the last statement, but he stayed silent, taking a moment and a breath to organize his thoughts.

"Firstly, how am I supposed to know this shit ain't normal? I just got the fucking skill! And more importantly, I'm not a masochist."

"Mah mah. Useless details," Terra said as she waved her hand dismissively, much to Luck's displeasure.

It was obvious she didn't believe a word he was saying!

"Anyway, you said you just learnt this?" Tara asked.

Luck nodded, earning him a weird gaze from the redhead

"Now you see what I'm talking about! How does someone learn this?" He points at the wagon. "Just like that?!"

Harry seemed to be unwilling to let this go!

Unfortunately for him, Luck was, as he merely shrugged in response, making Harry almost pull his hair out in frustration.

"Let's not waste time on the unimportant."

"But it is important!" Harry protested with a voice bordering on the edge of madness.

"Ssshhhh."

"Arggghhh!!!"

Luck paid the ice magician no mind as he turned to his brother. "Can you get your wolves to the front of the wagon?"

Luke nodded, and almost immediately, all the lightning wolves were at the front of the wagon in an arranged formation, with Fenris at its head.

Luck leapt on top of the wagon as several tendrils made of bone snaked out of the wagon and tied themselves to the wolves' bodies.

"Get in." Luck said flatly as they all entered at once. He looked at Luke as he smiled with amusement. "Will you do the honours?"

Luke grinned in response. "Gladly."

*Crackle*

The bodies of the wolves were bathed in lightning that only seemed to be getting stronger with them all together.

*Boom*

An explosion occurred as the 'carriage' seemed to have passed the sound barrier due to the speed of the supercharged wolves.

Luck sat on the floor with his hands behind his head, as he flashed a smug grin. "Getting Lysarrieth will be a breeze now."

Terra returned his grin with one of her own. " And we get to do it in style."
