Chapter 31 - When Memory Sleeps

Later that afternoon, the room brightened faintly with the amber light of late noon. A quiet knock preceded the entrance of a woman in a lab coat, followed by two nurses and a technician wheeling in portable equipment.

"Good afternoon," she greeted in a clear but gentle tone. "I'm Dr. Elaine Morgan, the neurologist. I've been assigned to Mr. Felix's recovery team."

Matteo stood up immediately, nodding with quiet respect. "Thank you for coming so quickly."

She offered a small smile. "When someone wakes up from a six-month coma, it's worth the urgency."

Felix stirred faintly, blinking at the commotion. His gaze, though dazed, found Matteo first—anchored there as though he needed something steady in the blur.

Matteo leaned down beside him. "They're just going to run some scans," he said in a low, reassuring voice. "I'll be right here the whole time."

Felix didn't speak—he simply nodded, trusting.
