Third Person POV
The vial began working two hours after dinner.
Yin had retreated to the orchard, his favorite place to think when things became complicated. The evening air was cool against his skin as he walked between the rows of apple trees, their branches heavy with late-season fruit.
He'd noticed something was wrong halfway through the walk. A strange warmth spreading through his body, different from normal vampire physiology. His vision blurred slightly, then cleared. His heartbeat—usually so controlled—accelerated unexpectedly.
What the hell?
He steadied himself against a tree trunk, trying to assess what was happening. Poison? No, he'd have recognized that immediately. This was something else. Something that made his skin hypersensitive, his thoughts sluggish, his body react in ways that had nothing to do with actual desire.
A drug. Someone had drugged him.
