Chapter 14: Fury, the Man Determined to Become the King of HYDRA!
He made sure no one was following him.
After about forty minutes, Nick Fury arrived discreetly at the secret Base where Thor was being housed.
He met up with Thor and Black Widow.
Why wasn't Captain America there yet?
It wasn't because Captain America was treated as an outsider, or that he wasn't trusted.
It was simply because Captain America wasn't one of the diary holders.
If Captain America had been there, some things truly couldn't have been discussed freely.
"I wonder when Rogers will get a diary," Black Widow couldn't help but sigh, feeling awkward about always secretly going behind Captain America's back.
Moreover, with so much crucial intelligence leaked by the diary, S.H.I.E.L.D. would definitely need to take action.
As one of the few people Nick Fury could trust, and also one of the "Avengers Big Three" designated by the diary, many operations couldn't bypass Captain America.
Always being so secretive was indeed not a solution.
And according to Tony's previous theory, those who possess a diary are important figures who can influence the future direction of the World, they are the protagonists of this World.
Captain America was undoubtedly the protagonist among protagonists.
Therefore, everyone was very much looking forward to Captain America also obtaining a diary.
Of course.
It was merely limited to anticipation.
Tony Stark's theory seemed correct, but no one could guarantee that it was truly the case.
No one knew whether Captain America would obtain a diary in the future.
"This isn't something we can decide," Nick Fury spread his hands, not wasting more time on such meaningless topics, but instead turned his single eye towards Thor, "Thor, what do you know about the Celestials?"
Black Widow, standing nearby, couldn't help but shake her head slightly.
Before Nick Fury arrived, she had already discussed the relevant issues with Thor.
But unfortunately, she hadn't received a very optimistic answer.
"Even for me, they are a very mysterious race," Thor repeated what he had told Black Widow to Nick Fury, "In fact, I know my father fought the Celestials a long time ago, but I don't know much more about that battle than you do."
At this point, Thor picked up the diary and shook it, "It's all in here."
"Then, what about other alien races or alien forces mentioned in the diary?" Nick Fury's expression remained unchanged; after a slight pause, he asked Thor other questions, "Such as Ego, such as the Eternal, such as S.W.O.R.D.?"
"I'm indeed not clear about Ego and S.W.O.R.D.," Thor shook his head as usual, but fortunately, he quickly changed the subject, "However, as for the Eternal, they are a group of powerful and reliable partners."
Nick Fury's spirit secretly lifted; finally!
Thor, this fellow who knew nothing about everything, was finally reliable for once.
"Thor, can you tell me more about this Eternal?" Nick Fury's single eye focused on Thor as he asked seriously.
"You know, Asgard and Jotunheim once had a war. I was young then, but I had already witnessed the brutality of war with my father."
"It was then that I met those friends from the Eternal. They joined forces with my father to defeat the Frost Giants."
"Oh, right, that war at the time was on Midgard."
Thor then began to excitedly and vivaciously recount that war.
On Earth?
Nick Fury and Black Widow were both very surprised by this answer.
They never would have thought that Asgard and Jotunheim would actually wage war on Earth.
What kind of development was this?
One must know that both of them were divine realms in myths and legends. Could Earth withstand the torment of these two divine realms?
Nick Fury also further inquired about relevant intelligence concerning that battle.
However, it was a pity that Thor was still young at that time and barely remembered anything.
The same applied to matters concerning the Eternal.
Although Thor promised to introduce the Eternal to everyone, what he basically talked about was how brave Odin was and how excellent he, Thor, was.
It would be good if one sentence out of ten mentioned the Eternal.
It made Nick Fury and Black Widow incredibly speechless.
However, it wasn't the first time the two had dealt with Thor, and they knew his personality.
So they just let Thor brag to his heart's content.
Only then did they generally learn some things about the Eternal.
"There was a big guy among them. I remember him. He was even bigger than me, and his most powerful weapon was his fist."
"Just like my mjolnir, there's nothing his fist can't smash."
"There was also a guy whose accent was very strange, but his attacks were not at all ambiguous."
"He just extended his finger at the enemy and could shoot powerful energy waves, biu~ biu~ biu."
But unfortunately.
Because the time was too long ago, and Thor was still young at the time, his memory was also quite hazy.
He merely picked out some Eternal members he still had an impression of and gave Nick Fury a general introduction.
Although it completely failed to meet Nick Fury's requirements, it was at least some gain, no matter what.
At the very least, a rough image of the Eternal was established.
The only regret was that.
What Thor revealed was too vague; trying to find the Eternal based on that information was completely a fool's errand.
Otherwise, the Eternal would also be a powerful potential ally that could be recruited.
After the questions about the Eternal, Nick Fury discussed some other diary spoilers with Thor.
Finally, he casually asked about Thor picking up his mjolnir.
"I feel like I can do it," Thor looked utterly confident. "Unlike all those times before, this time, I have a feeling, a feeling from the bottom of my heart, I know I can."
"I think I understand why my father banished me."
Thor at this moment, and the Thor Nick Fury saw in New Mexico, were two completely different mental states.
After all, Thor hadn't been on Earth for so many days for nothing, and he hadn't gained nothing from spending these days with Captain America.
Coupled with learning about Captain America's life from Black Widow, he was indeed inspired.
Additionally, there were the spoilers from the diary.
They made Thor realize that Asgard was not as peaceful as it appeared on the surface, but was facing numerous crises.
While Thor was anxious and worried, a sense of responsibility was also ignited within him.
Even during this period of being "trapped" on Earth, besides trying to pick up mjolnir, Thor also repeatedly called Heimdall to teleport him back.
Although he had no power without mjolnir, Thor still wanted to return to Asgard to do his part.
Unfortunately, the Bifrost Bridge was broken, and Heimdall simply couldn't teleport Thor back.
It required Odin to use dark energy.
But what about Odin?
He planned to continue to temper Thor.
The God King knew his time was running out, and this time he was truly determined to make Thor grow!
Although the process was much more convoluted than he had expected, Odin's efforts were not in vain after all.
After being stranded on Earth for such a long time, Thor finally gained experience and growth, just as Odin had intended.
Next, Thor didn't hesitate any longer and once again approached his mjolnir.
"Thor is different this time," Captain America immediately noticed this. He couldn't help but nod to himself, "I have a premonition that Thor can truly lift mjolnir this time."
"Let's wait and see."
Black Widow echoed him expressionlessly.
Compared to Captain America, who was simply happy for Thor, Black Widow's thoughts were much more complex.
If Thor truly picked up mjolnir this time, wouldn't it mean that her mission had completely failed?
This was not a good experience for the ace Agent Black Widow.
Even more so for Nick Fury, who had always been secretly plotting against Thor.
But this was not something Nick Fury and Black Widow could decide.
And so.
Under everyone's gaze.
Thor once again extended his right hand and placed it on his mjolnir.
Unlike all the previous times, this time Thor didn't even need to try.
The moment his right hand touched mjolnir, a happy smile involuntarily appeared on his face.
He felt his mjolnir!
That feeling from before, it was back again!
"mjolnir, have you been waiting long?" Thor spoke as if to an old friend, then gently raised his hand.
mjolnir was immediately in Thor's hand.
"Haha, I knew it!" Thor was incredibly excited, as happy as a simpleton.
It wasn't easy!
After staying on Midgard for so many days, he finally succeeded in getting his mjolnir back.
Crack!
The next moment.
Thor suddenly shook his hand, and a bolt of lightning surged upwards.
Click, click, click!
Click, click, click!
Under the cover of the lightning, pieces of armor flew towards Thor like moths to a flame.
They slammed into Thor's body.
Then pieced together, forming an incredibly cool and domineering armor!
After being a mortal on Earth for so long, Thor finally made a dazzling appearance.
"So, this is the real you?" Captain America sized up Thor, nodding repeatedly, giving high praise, "Not bad."
"Rogers, I want to thank you, my friend, sincerely," Thor said to Captain America from the bottom of his heart.
"You're welcome, I didn't even know what I was supposed to do," Captain America spread his hands, also speaking from the heart.
Captain America had actually been reborn for quite some time now, but no matter what, there was still a seventy-year gap with this era.
He was still trying to adapt.
"And you two, Natasha and Nick Fury," Thor then looked at Nick Fury and Black Widow, thanking them and also bidding them farewell, "Thank you too, but now, I must go."
He wondered if his father had awakened from the Odin Sleep, and what had become of Jotunheim.
He also wondered what had happened to Loki.
Thor was extremely eager to know all of this, so he naturally wouldn't waste any more time on Earth.
As fellow diary holders, Nick Fury and Black Widow both understood Thor's feelings.
Therefore, neither of them said any nonsense about asking Thor to stay.
"Welcome back next time," Black Widow grinned at Thor, full of charm.
"This is our first encounter, but it won't be the last," Nick Fury said meaningfully to Thor.
Thor nodded to everyone, said nothing more, and strode away with his mjolnir.
Nick Fury had nothing more to say, so he also dismissed Black Widow and Captain America.
After all, he had placed these two in this secret Base entirely for the purpose of conquering Thor.
Now that Thor had left, these two important figures naturally couldn't continue to be wasted here.
However, considering Captain America's specific situation, Nick Fury made no arrangements for him.
He simply fully assisted Captain America in adapting to this society, nothing more.
As for Black Widow.
Undoubtedly, this good blade couldn't be idle, and there was just a place where Black Widow could be used now.
Nick Fury gave Black Widow an order.
He wanted Black Widow to fully cooperate with Tony Stark and secretly initiate a secret investigation into Alexander Pierce.
Tony's technology was already powerful enough, and with Jarvis, almost anything online could be easily dug out.
Black Widow, on the other hand, provided comprehensive offline support.
With the two working together, the efficiency was incredibly high.
Moreover, this investigation was different from previous ones.
This investigation was not one of unraveling clues to find the truth, but rather one that presupposed the outcome and then sought to verify it in reverse.
The difficulty was reduced by an unknown amount.
Just on the third day, Tony Stark had results.
A large amount of irrefutable evidence of Pierce being HYDRA was brought to Nick Fury by Black Widow.
Nick Fury browsed through the undeniable ironclad evidence, his face incredibly solemn and serious.
"Pierce, you made the wrong choice."
"In that case, don't blame me!" Nick Fury was silent for a moment, and a sharp light suddenly flashed in his single eye.
How to deal with Pierce was actually not a difficult task for Nick Fury.
Nick Fury didn't even need to change his strategy.
He just needed to continue having the Skrulls replace Pierce.
And in doing so, HYDRA being in Nick Fury's hands would be just around the corner.
The troublesome mess that was HYDRA would also have a solution.
Simple, just become the boss of HYDRA!
