Clover -
Jackson huffed. "You still haven't told me why you're covered in food or why Wyatt has my sweatshirt!"
"Huh? Can't hear you. Maybe scream louder." I slouched in the passenger seat and crossed my arms. I had been a little scared earlier when he held me in the air like a sack of potatoes, but now I was pissed. Usually, I try my best to stay calm and stay under the radar, but sometimes I just can't control myself. It was why I had gotten myself into trouble more times than I could count at my old schools. In fact, right now, there's nothing I would like better than beating this arrogant punk into a pulp. The only reason I decided to refrain myself and let him take me home was because he made me miss the bus, and I absolutely could not stay at that school for another second. Well… that and also because there was no way I was winning if I tried starting anything with Jackson. I wasn't trying to commit suicide, I'm too young to die.
"Babe, please?" He gave me the look a dog gives its owner when begging for a treat.
"Pay attention to the road dumbass." I turned away from him and stared out the window. There wasn't really much to see. Just trees, more trees, and an occasional red ribbon that was of course tied to a tree. I kind of wanted to ask Jackson what the ribbons were for, but I didn't want him to think I had forgiven him for his earlier actions.
"Cloveeerrrr"
"..."
"Clover."
"Ugh!" I pulled my hood over my head.
"Clover!"
"Are you slow?!" I aggressively turned around and glared at the larger man. I half expected him to get mad at my insult, but he only smiled at me. Pretty weird considering the guy seemed to have a short fuse.
"Did something bad happen while I was gone?" He raised an eyebrow.
"..."
"Tell me what happened!"
His right eye twitched a bit. Looks like he couldn't keep the nice guy act for long. To further test him I decided to answer with my tongue.
"Bleh."
"SCREECH!" Jackson slammed on his breaks making me jolt forwards with the sudden stop.
"Hey! What'd you stop the car for? We're almost to my house!" Dammit. I should've kept my attitude in check. It would suck if I got beat up for merely sticking my tongue out a bit.
He chuckled to himself coolly. "Oh, so you can speak?"
"Jeez! I'm sorry for poking my tongue out, can we go now?" I wanted this car ride to be over as soon as possible. If I had taken the bus I'd be home and playing Xbox with Carson by now. He was going to lose his shit after I told him about all the wackjobs in this town. Maybe he'd even fly down here and save me from this weirdo.
"Thank you for apologizing, but I'm not moving this car until you tell me about what happened at school today." He looked at me more determined than before.
It's not that I didn't want to tell him. I mean It would be pretty sweet seeing Brock and those other douches beat up, and like maybe he could make Ashley cry or something, but it would absolutely ruin me at school. I would practically be confirming everyone's delusions that me and Jackson were some sort of item.
Sure, if I was a girl that would be fine… I guess. He is basically the whole package, tall, buff, handsome, rich? Well, I'm assuming he's pretty well off. He's driving a charger as a high school student, and I'm like 90 percent sure the sweatshirt he gave me this morning was designer, plus that arrogant attitude he fashions isn't commonly seen in the less fortunate. Maybe I should ask him if he's rich. I'm kind of curious now. If he is, I'm making him buy me a fancy new coat to replace my damaged clothes.
"Babe?"
"Huh? Oh, how rich are you?"
Crap! My face reddened, and I buried my face in my hands. Why did I ask that?! That was an inside my head question, not an asking Jackson directly question! Oh well, maybe he'd think I was a gold digger now and leave me alone.
Jackson looked at me with a puzzled expression and then smiled. "Aww are you worried your hubby won't make enough to take care of you?" He laughed and grabbed my hand, kissing it gently. "Don't worry, you'll never have to work a day in your life."
"Gee thanks," I pulled my hand away. Honestly, never having to work sounded pretty appealing. I could just lounge around and play Xbox all day, maybe work out a bit too. That was it would be nice if he wasn't the one that I'd be mooching off of. "If you're so rich, then why don't you buy me a new jacket. Look! I can't even wear this one anymore." I pointed to the hole Jackson's nails had made earlier.
"Hmm, you do need some winter clothes. I can't have my mate catching a cold." Jackson seemed to think to himself for a minute before putting the car in drive and U-turning.
"Wait a second! Where are we going?! Take me home!" I reached for the handle, but Jackson's strong arm held me in place.
"Easy, you'll hurt yourself if you jump out of a moving car," he growled in a way that made me want to obey him.
It was weird. His car had that same air freshener as the one in the nurses office that had made me feel funny. Wait… maybe it wasn't the car. I leaned closer to his neck.
Sniff.
"SCREECH!" The car jostled as Jackson swerved into the other lane. "Clover!"
"What bros can't sniff each other?" I crossed my arms and slouched in my seat. "You do weird stuff to me all the time… tsk what a hypocrite. Let me get another sniff." I leaned in to smell him once more. I was right, that amazing smell was coming from him. Was it some sort of cologne?
"Clover."
"What? I was just…" I stopped myself. Jackson's face was bright red, and it looked like a bit of drool was coming from his mouth. "Uhh, what's wrong man? You not feeling good?"
"I'm taking you home now. We can go shopping tomorrow."
Wait! He was taking me shopping?! "Why can't we just go now?" It would be better to go today. I hardly had any winter clothing back at the house, plus I didn't want to have to commit to hanging out with Jackson again tomorrow.
"Just listen to me unless you want to get devoured." Jackson grit his teeth, focusing all his energy on watching the road.
My cheeks tinged, what kind of threat was that? "Hey, uhh it's kind of hot in here. I'm gonna turn the AC on." I reached for the knob, and that's when I noticed it. The massive tent in Jackson's pants.
