Catherine's Pov
"I..I.." I fumbled for words, my mind completely blank with terror. Just then, a loud, metallic ripping sound tore through the air, causing all of us to flinch violently. The sound was like a car door being torn right off its hinges.
David's gun immediately left my temple as he and Tyler whipped their heads around to examine where the noise had come from. They were met with the heavy, sickening thud of a lifeless body hitting the pavement outside the car.
A deafening, guttural roar erupted through the tunnel, echoing off the concrete walls. I didn't need to think any further. I didn't need to see him. I knew. Soren was here.
My heart rate skyrocketed. I quickly bent over, trying to hush a screaming Esme as I fumbled blindly in the footwell with my free hand. My fingers closed around the cold plastic of the pepper spray Tyler had discarded.
