.....

Jae-Hyun looked at the system screen with doubt.

How was he going to find these so-called "chaotic humans"?

This young man appeared very normal and showed no signs of infection all this time. It wasn't until he was threatened that he transformed.

And the worst part was that the trigger seemed to manifest as voices in their heads.

Luckily, the system gave him a skill for detecting zombies as his first kill reward, so now he could sense when a zombie was nearby. However, the range of detection didn't cover the entire base.

So, he put system points into his detection skill and managed to upgrade it to the highest level. Now, his detection covered the whole base.

At the end of the day, this was the best he could do. But those nobles were still a problem. It was best to meet them face to face.

Jae-Hyun turned around and walked away from the garbage dump.

As he left, a cleaner happened to pass by. The cleaner's eyes were immediately drawn to the watches on the corpse's hands.

He stepped closer and began to search the body, pulling out the second watch and fiddling with it for a moment.

Then, the cleaner flashed a greedy smile and tossed the watch into the heap of rubbish.

He proceeded to head in the direction of the Entertainment sector.

---

Jae-Hyun made his way to the Entertainment sector. He had already guessed that the nobles would likely be there.

As expected, they were seated on the fourth floor, having breakfast at the restaurant.

Jae-Hyun approached, slammed his palm loudly on the table, and the sound reverberated across the room, drawing everyone's attention.

"One of your people has died, and it was due to his arrogance."

"If you don't want to end up like him, it's best you stop harassing the commoners," Jae-Hyun said, his tone firm.

The nobles paused for a moment, then burst into arrogant laughter.

"So what if that stupid guy died at the hands of a commoner?"

"It was his fault for letting himself lose to trash," a young man with a punk hairstyle sneered.

He lifted his nose high and glared at Jae-Hyun.

"I'm sure that's what the others will say after you die," Jae-Hyun shot back.

"How dare you, wastrel, say that to me!" the punk man growled.

"I came to give you a warning," Jae-Hyun said, not wanting to waste more time with such foolish people. He turned and left.

The nobles sneered at his departure, continuing to enjoy their meal. They ignored him, and his warning only made them bolder in their actions.

They continued targeting people recklessly, with no regard for the consequences.

Sometimes they would offer points for every command the commoners obeyed.

They harassed women physically, laughing as they did so. Some of the sycophants who had existed before the apocalypse became their minions.

These nobles would take them to the Entertainment sector just to flaunt their power.

The sycophants, in turn, would praise them endlessly, only to take out their frustrations on other normal people.

Eventually, the second death occurred.

Jae-Hyun rushed to the scene, not to save the noble but to kill the culprit before the transformation was complete.

He found the woman growling and tearing the noble's hands apart.

Her clothes were torn, giving an indication of what had happened to cause her transformation.

After she tore off his hands, she growled at Jae-Hyun.

Jae-Hyun tensed, focusing on her, but she did something unexpected.

She turned around and fled.

No, Jae-Hyun realized she was looking for something.

She was headed in the direction of the kitchen.

Jae-Hyun attacked her from behind using the system's gun.

He shot twice, the bullets hitting her head until it exploded.

The rest of her body staggered a few steps toward the kitchen before it collapsed.

A young girl working in the kitchen came out at that moment and screamed.

She fell to the floor, shivering in fright, still screaming.

Jae-Hyun glanced at her but said nothing.

"Stop screaming," Jae-Hyun snapped, glaring at the timid girl.

"I'm sorry," she covered her mouth with her hands, apologizing through muffled sobs.

But she was still crying.

Jae-Hyun, annoyed by the noise, left.

Meanwhile, Mori Aoi, still shivering on the ground, sobbed uncontrollably.

She had been working in the kitchen as usual when she felt someone was coming for her—someone who wanted to kill her.

It felt like standing in front of a lion ready to pounce, that cold chill down her spine that made her tremble.

It was killing intent.

In a panic, she had bolted for the door, only to find a headless corpse on the ground.

Fear gripped her even more when the handsome young man, covered in blood and holding a gun, stepped forward.

Even though he left, she was still terrified.

Eventually, she heard footsteps approaching.

She stumbled to her feet and turned around.

It was the others who had sensed something was wrong in the area.

Mori Aoi immediately felt relieved, and her sobs gradually quieted.

She walked over to Wei Zhi and grabbed the back of his shirt.

The feel of his fabric and the body heat from the others stopped her crying entirely.

"What happened?" Wei Zhi asked once she calmed down.

He was already used to her sticking close to him.

She explained what had happened, and the others looked at the corpse in fear.

"I don't know why, but I just feel disgusted by some random people," Shae Harris said.

"Yeah, and I'm sure I've never met them before," Ming Jun added.

"And they never acknowledge me," Wei Zhi said.

"I think it's best we avoid being alone," Noi Karn suggested.

The others agreed.

But Mori Aoi refused to stay alone in the kitchen.

They tried to convince her that other people were there, but she said she didn't know them.

So, Noi Karn offered to stay with her.

The others left after that.

"I'm sorry for bothering you," Mori Aoi said, embarrassed.

"It's okay," Noi Karn shrugged.

"You're a really good person, youngest," Mori Aoi said, rubbing his head.

Noi Karn blinked and softly replied, "Oh."

He followed her back into the kitchen, step by step, but his mind was on the warm current filling his chest as her hand passed through his hair.

It felt really nice, he thought.

---

The second death did nothing to stop the nobles.

In fact, it seemed to backfire, making them even more barbaric.

Their pride had been wounded by the fact that dirty commoners dared to rebel.

Jae-Hyun was seriously considering killing all of them at this point.

Instead, he opted for one-on-one beatings as a means to set them on the right path.

He would drag a random noble from the group while they gathered in the Entertainment sector, having fun.

Then, he would beat the chosen person until they begged for mercy and threaten to kill all of them if they refused to stop.

Of course, the nobles nodded their heads in front of him.

They only had the guts to commit evil against people who didn't resist.

But, they were actually quite cowardly under all that arrogance.

They couldn't fight back at all and didn't have guards here.

So, they had no choice but to bow their heads to the violence Jae-Hyun dished out.

Did they give up? Not at all.

They cursed Jae-Hyun in their heads for daring to harm their precious bodies.

This also alerted them to the urgent need for bodyguards.

Luckily, the last floor was an auction.

They could go to the auction and offer points to buy a bodyguard.

A notice would be sent to everyone's watch, and the first person to click on it would get the job.

Of course, the people who agreed to be bodyguards for those rotten nobles weren't ordinary people.

After all, everyone had a conscience, and it would be too disgusting to work with bullies.

Only people without a conscience would proudly take the job.

People like former gangsters who had joined the base.

Their weapons were confiscated, and they were left with only their physiques.

They played it low for a while, just to get a feel for the base.

After all, the only one who can truly scare a criminal is a madman.

Criminals do bad things because of their greed or desires.

A madman does bad things because they want to.

The "want" aspect is quite powerful.

People have infinite wants.

Those wants can be random.

A person can want to throw an old shirt away, and someone else has a weird desire to buy old clothes.

Some people like fish; some people like to smell rotten fish.

There are many kinds of people with many different desires.

But madmen can never have a "normal" or at least safe desire.

And that's why the gangsters didn't want to mess with the base.

It was owned by a fanatic who was also a madman.

But now, they were given the opportunity.

They became bodyguards for the nobles and began to wreak havoc.

They confronted Jae-Hyun multiple times, but he always put them in their place.

The problem, however, was that he didn't have the time to deal with both the gangsters and the chaotic humans.

So, he wouldn't argue with them if they bothered him too much and went for a direct confrontation

Best them up until they submit

Meanwhile, the commoners were getting caught up in it all.

The nobles hadn't forgotten that these despicable commoners had killed one of their own.

They also thought that Jae-Hyun was just acting out of a hero complex.

The casualties mounted as the gangsters joined in the bullying.

The commoners grew tired of the harassment.

Then someone offered to lead a resistance.

A young man who had a mother.

His mother had always shielded him from harm, even when his father became a drunk and beat them, or when mean aunties insulted them for being poor.

Even when zombies attacked them.

If they hadn't met the Guide, who carefully led them to the base, his mother would have died.

But now...

Now, his mother lay on the ground, clothes torn and bleeding profusely.

Her eyes still held a tear.

The young man, Han Seojin, broke down in despair.

That was when he began to hear the voices.

The voices urged him to kill, to slaughter.

These whispers carried death and madness.

But Han Seojin had reached the point of no return.

He began to plan.

First, he bought a knife from the store.

Then, he waited until it was lunchtime.

The gangsters came as usual to harass the commoners as they ate.

It was just one gangster today because the others preferred to eat at the restaurant.

The gangster, usually angry, took out his frustrations on the commoners.

His eyes landed on a table where Noi Karn, the blind boy, was eating.

He approached with a sneer.

"I don't know how a blind person like you has managed to survive this long," the gangster jeered, poking Noi Karn's head.

The four others tensed but kept their heads down.

"I'm sure you've been hiding and shitting your pants all this time," the gangster laughed.

"Or maybe you begged on your knees, crying for someone to save you."

"Why don't you show me?" the gangster sneered, squeezing Noi Karn's shoulder.

The others' hands tightened around their bread, veins bulging, betraying their anger.

Suddenly, Han Seojin stood up, stabbing the gangster in the neck.

He pulled the knife out, and blood poured out.

Then he drove it in again as the gangster fell to the floor, coughing blood.

"This is for harassing an innocent person," Han Seojin spat.

He stabbed again.

"This is for my mother, you piece of shit," he said.

He stabbed once more.

"This is to show you that we are not pigs for you to slaughter."

"We are human beings," he declared, delivering the final blow.

He stood up and glanced at the stunned crowd.

"I want you all to remember something important," he said.

"This is the apocalypse, where people like these love to bark like dogs.

"But we are human beings."

"We might have lived like this because they were in power, but now we're on equal terms."

"So why should we let them bully us like this?"

"It's because of the fear ingrained in our hearts."

"But I say no more."

"We will fight back from now on."

"This is war," Han Seojin declared, raising his fist high.

The crowd hesitated, knowing it could lead to death.

After all, the reason they stayed in the base was because they didn't have to struggle to survive against zombies.

"I understand your reluctance, and I'm not forcing you."

"I just want you to remember, I'm always here waiting for you to make your decision."

"And I promise to be at the forefront of this battle."

"Lastly, I want you to think about something important."

"Is this really living? Because at the end of the day, we're just fighting to survive."

"And this time, our enemies can think," Han Seojin said meaningfully.

He took the gangster's watch and put it in his pocket, all in full view of everyone.

He sat back down and continued eating.

The crowd began to reflect on his words.

Jae-Hyun studied him, but his detection didn't show that he was a zombie.

Noi Karn, on the other hand, felt a chill as he sensed Han Seojin.

The five of them all felt the same fear as they did when facing the director.

Meanwhile, the director, on the second floor of the cafeteria, watched Han Seojin with delight, unconsciously licking his lips.
