Chapter 70 - A complicated relationship - Part.2

Ringo was speechless for a moment. What should he say to her?

He could invent something like love at first sight, but she wouldn't believe it and he didn't believe in that either.

But honestly, would that be too much for her? To know that his desire came purely from his genes?

Ringo looked at the back of her head, those wet red strands clinging to her neck and back.

His hand moved up as he brushed her hair aside and tucked it behind her ear, turning her face towards his. Hila opened her eyes, looking directly into his.

-Before, it was purely genetic.- Ringo began, yes, he wanted to be honest with this woman.

Hila's eyes narrowed, but she didn't speak.

-Emma helped me understand my power... evolution, it's also linked to reproduction. It just so happens that her genes are the strongest of the opposite sex that I've ever seen. The stronger my power gets, the more I can feel.- Ringo ran his finger across her lips, looking at them intently. Hila still looked directly into his eyes.

-So you desire me for my power?- She asked, her voice more neutral than she might have expected.

-At first? Yes, but now...- He simply looked away from her eyes again. -Now it's much deeper than that.

Hila scoffed with a soft snort, but didn't push him away. -How could you know? After all, you might just be being deceived by your own power right now.

Ringo remained quiet, thoughtful. He didn't want to touch on a new point yet, but he was tired of hiding his feelings. He wanted to be completely honest with this woman. -No... because I found someone else who made me feel the same way.

Hila raised an eyebrow and asked, intrigued. -Who? Emma?

Hila had known the woman for a long time, she knew there was something between them, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. She seized the opportunity to bring it up.

-...- For a moment Ringo's throat didn't move, he wanted to groan and change the subject, but he forced himself to continue. -Your sister.

Hila's eyes changed, a crimson energy erupted wildly, Hila's fury was completely unrestrained at that moment. - How! You! Dare!

Ringo expected this reaction, he didn't need his precognition to figure it out. So he squeezed her tightly, preventing her from moving. The water around her leaked wildly as the bathtub cracked and shattered, even the walls cracked. Hila's eyes burned with energy, her fury unrestrained.

She strained frantically, trying to free herself, but he didn't budge, even sitting on shards of porcelain, he didn't move, just looking at her carefully and sadly.

-Hila... I wouldn't do anything to your sister, it was purely genetic, your sister has a Super gene as powerful as yours, but I would never touch her, you know that.- Ringo simply hugged her as she squirmed in annoyance.

But she listened anyway, she was still angry, very angry, but she trusted him, she didn't even know why, she knew he wasn't lying to her.

Unfortunately, the anger did not subside, Aurora was Hila's weakness, any threat to her had to be dealt with!

-Let me go.- She said through gritted teeth, trying to contain her fury.

Ringo didn't let go of her, but continued speaking. -Hila, I only said that because I don't want to hide it from you. I really won't do anything to Aurora. You asked me how I could be sure I wasn't being deceived by my power, that's the answer. I won't do anything for her because I love you.

Hila stopped for a moment, stunned.

Did he just say he loves her?

Did she hear right?

Anger mixed with shame the next moment, ironically this only fueled his anger even more!

-Let me go! Damn it!- Hila screamed furiously.

Ringo sighed, but decided to give the woman time to think.

As soon as he let her go, Hila jumped up, slapped him and marched off, still naked, so Ringo couldn't take his eyes off her plump backside.

When she left, Ringo finally looked around at the wrecked bathroom and took a deep breath. -Well, it was better than expected, I guess.

On the other side, Hila used her energy to dry herself, get dressed and leaving the room. She pulled Aurora, still confused and watching TV with Will, straight back to their old room. Even when Aurora asked, Hila ignored her and after making sure she felt safe and forbidding her from leaving, she went to her own room.

As soon as she entered, her hard face fell away.

With her back against the door, she slid down slowly with an expression of confusion and hurt. Sitting on the floor, she hugged her knees as she thought about the conversation she had just had.

It was all too much, way too much.

From the anger of sharing with Eva and Lena, to the search for possible acceptance from an unknown mother-in-law, finally to the revelation that her... "boyfriend?" finds her sister attractive! Her younger sister!

The worst part was the words at the end, love? Is it possible to love someone like her? How much of that was true?

Besides, what kind of idiot says he loves you right after saying he finds your younger sister attractive?!

Deep down, she knew Ringo was just trying to be honest, but it was still too much information, too many emotions.

Tears escaped Hila's eyes before she could truly understand what she was feeling.

Pain? Betrayal? Guilt? What kind of feeling is that?!

Ringo, on the other side, emerged from the bathroom with a heavy heart. -Honesty? My ass! Damn it! That's why scoundrels get away with it, while honest people get cheated on!

Sighing heavily, he wanted to run and talk to Hila, but what could he say?

Sorry for finding your sister, who looks like a 12-year-old girl, attractive?

Sorry for wanting to have a harem?

Yes, Ringo isn't so dense that he doesn't understand that this is serious, but he's not exactly a relationship expert either.

He procrastinated as much as he could and not without reason.

Of course, he could have left talking about Aurora for the future, after all, it wasn't really a problem, he didn't plan on doing anything to the little girl!

He got a little carried away with the honesty, but what's done is done, he can only try to fix it.

But how do we fix this?

He knows Hila very well, her response to stressful situations is aggression, but she knows she can't beat him, so her likely response will be another form of aggression, ignoring him? Denying him? Breaking up with him?

Well, they never really talked about what their relationship was like.

Nowadays they are more like opposite-sex partners, without titles, just a man and a woman who come together through mutual attraction.

Talk to Eva? She'd probably tell you something like. -So what? Just leave her alone, I can satisfy you!

Lena? She probably knew even less about relationships.

Emma? He prefers not to touch that thorn.

Li? Well... it's not a bad idea, he's so old, he must know a few things, but imagining that old man giving him a gossipy look with a huge suggestive smile on his face made him want to punch Li in the face.

Finally, he resorted to the most desperate option, he grabbed his cell phone, dialed a number, and the ringing sound rang for a few seconds before the call connected.

-Mother? - Yes, he called his mother. Desperate situations call for throwing pride aside and calling his mother to fix the things.

On the other side, in Hesla, Melissa was listening to Ringo's summarized story, basically, his Super gene is connected to reproduction and he's attracted to strong women.

His girlfriend is angry because he's attracted to a girl who is underage and, to make matters worse, her sister.

Also the problem with Eva and Lena.

Finally, Melissa took a deep breath and thought that no parenting course or book had prepared her for this.

What the hell?!

She doesn't know what to say.

If it were her, of course she would punch Ringo in the face.

But he's her son, so what if he wants a few more girlfriends?

Thus, Melissa quickly prioritized the "spoiled brat" side over the "pedophile jerk" side.

Taking a deep breath, Melissa didn't know what to say for a moment. She asked a little about what Hila was like and to be fair, Melissa thought this girl, Hila, from Ringo's description, looked a lot like her, which led her to like the girl a little.

Melissa felt a new sensation, a desire to gossip, to know everything about her son's personal life, but she knew it wasn't the time for that now.

Melissa's advice was based on herself, though of course she wouldn't admit it. - Give the anger time to pass, then unleash it forcefully!

Ringo paused for a moment, stunned and confused, finally managing to let out a confused -What?

Melissa rolled her eyes and said. -That girl, I know her type. If you go now, she'll only get angrier. Let her calm down first, but at the same time don't give her enough time to overthink it, or it'll get more complicated. Just wait a few hours, barge into her room and... well, you know.

Ringo took out the phone, looked at it for a moment, checking that the number was correct, then put the phone back to his ear. -Mom... is that your advice?

-Do you have a better idea?- Melissa asked, a little annoyed and embarrassed to be having this conversation with her son, especially since she was using herself as a role model, believe me, Ringo's father had already done exactly that to her.

That's how Ringo was born.

Not that she was going to tell that either.

-I have things to do now, I'm going to hang up.- Melissa quickly hung up the phone, afraid of being forced to talk more about it.

She stopped in front of her desk, feeling strange for a moment, then she put her hand on the phone and pressed a button, the next moment a line was connected.

-Commander Jones, what do you need?- A woman with a soft voice asked over the phone.

-Liz, help me find some up-to-date books on motherhood, preferably some about teenage children.- Melissa asked, a little embarrassed.

Liz remained silent for a few seconds, making Melissa even more uncomfortable.

-Yes, Commander.- Liz replied quickly, coming to her senses, then hung up hastily.

Melissa took a deep breath, she had asked teenagers because she didn't think they would have books on how to manage the romantic life of an adult child with amnesia.

Shaking her head, she quickly dismissed the idea, or at least tried to.
