Chapter 27 - Chapter 29 – Hidden Hearts

The day after practice, AJ found himself standing outside a small café near the edge of town. His hands were shoved deep into his hoodie pocket, heart pounding in ways even basketball never managed to do.

He checked his phone again—"I'm here "

When Kiisi walked in, AJ almost forgot how to breathe. She wore her school uniform still, hair tied back loosely, and that gentle smile that always made him feel lighter.

They sat across from each other, hands resting near the same sugar packet but never quite touching.

"So," AJ said, clearing his throat. "I didn't think you'd actually… come."

Kiisi tilted her head, amused. "Why wouldn't I? You're not scary."

"Not scary? I'm… intense. People always say I'm intense."

"Maybe. But not with me," Kiisi replied softly. Her words made AJ blush so hard he had to sip his soda to hide it.

For the next hour, they just talked—about school, about their powers awakening, about silly things like who ate the worst cafeteria meals. But somewhere between laughs, AJ's eyes kept drifting toward her, realizing that every second with her felt different.

When they left the café, Kiisi lingered, biting her lip before whispering,"You're easy to talk to, AJ. I… I like that."

AJ froze. He wanted to say something back, but all that came out was,"…Me too."

It wasn't much. But Kiisi understood. Their secret connection had started.

Meanwhile – Treasure & Ebun

The night was quiet, the streetlamps glowing faintly as Treasure and Ebun walked side by side.

Treasure kept his hands in his hoodie pocket, glancing at Ebun every so often. She looked nervous, like she had been holding something inside for too long.

Finally, Ebun stopped walking."Treasure… wait."

He turned, brow raised. "What's up?"

Her chest rose and fell sharply before she spoke."I need to say this. And I don't care how awkward it sounds. I… like you. Not as a teammate, not as a friend—like you. I've been keeping it inside for too long, and it's been killing me."

Treasure's eyes widened for a second, then he smirked faintly, though his voice carried weight."Damn, Ebun… you really waited this long to tell me?"

Her lips pressed together. "I was scared, okay? Scared it would ruin everything if you didn't feel the same."

Treasure sighed, shaking his head with a short laugh."You know Jasmine's just my best friend. That's never been a thing. But you? You've been on my mind more than I ever admitted. You drive me crazy sometimes, but… fuck, I like you too."

Ebun blinked, heat rushing to her cheeks. "You… mean that?"

"Dead serious," Treasure replied, stepping closer.

The silence hung thick for a moment, until Treasure tilted his head down, Ebun rising just enough on her toes——and their lips met.

It wasn't rushed. It wasn't clumsy. It was the kind of kiss that made the world around them blur out, like it had been waiting to happen for ages.

When they finally pulled apart, Ebun let out a shaky laugh."So… what does this mean for us?"

Treasure chuckled, brushing his thumb against her cheek."It means we stop holding back. From now on, you're mine, Ebun."

And for the first time in a long while, Ebun smiled without holding anything back. And they share another long kiss for the last time
