Chapter 49 - chapter 49:The ghost you forgot

For a week straight, fire had been Victor's language,burning estates, ambushing convoys, erasing warehouses. His enemies bled, his name spread like wildfire.

But repetition bored him. The game was predictable now, and games were meant to be won.

So he vanished.

Two whole days. No orders, no trace. His men searched in panic, whispers spreading like disease. Some wondered if he'd been captured, others if he had abandoned them.

Abel, couldn't take it anymore. He dialed Carl.

"Boss… it's Victor," Abel reported, his voice low. "He's gone cold. For two days, no word, no move. The men are restless. They're afraid."

Carl's silence on the other end was heavier than lead.

"Keep them steady," Carl finally said. "If he's gone cold, it means he's thinking. And when Victor starts thinking… someone's going to die."

And Carl was right.

Because when Victor returned, there was no explanation. Just sharp eyes, calm silence, and a single order:

"Prepare for war. I know where he is."
