Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Ling Ye, the Ling from dawn, the Ye from night

"Please go ahead, and have a safe journey."

Ye Lin stepped aside to make way, not bothering to tangle with Zhuge Ni.

To live a happy life, there's a trick: don't argue with fools and don't try to communicate with them. Ye Lin always kept this principle in mind.

Zhuge Ni glanced at him; seeing Ye Lin's compliance, she didn't say anything more and strode past.

Just when Ye Lin thought he had sent away this trouble, Zhuge Ni suddenly paused.

"Oh, right. Let me ask you, did you see anyone pass by here? That person... is very powerful! And he is extremely skilled in using fire elements, likely mastering hellfire!" Zhuge Ni said, her eyes flashing with a hint of anticipation.

"Hellfire?!"

Ye Lin was at a loss for words. He finally understood why Zhuge Ni had approached him. Apparently, it was because he had just used hellfire to light a campfire.

So, the person Zhuge Ni was looking for might be him?

"I saw him, a very handsome man. He went in that direction." Ye Lin pointed in a random direction, hoping to get rid of her.

He didn't want to be bothered by this foolish woman. It seemed that the forbidden spell of Hellfire Blaze the Heavens was definitely off-limits from now on.

"Thank you."

Seeing that Ye Lin didn't try to detain her, Zhuge Ni's impression of him improved slightly.

She walked in the direction Ye Lin pointed and, as she passed through the forest, two more moons suddenly appeared in the sky.

Three moons hung in the sky, looking incredibly strange.

In the next moment, Zhuge Ni's face turned pale.

There were no three moons; the two extra moons were the eyes of a giant beast!

With a terrifying roar, a huge claw descended toward Zhuge Ni's location.

Zhuge Ni dodged to the side, putting distance between her and the beast, and finally saw its full appearance.

"An 8th-level monster! A Dragon Blood Beast!"

This area wasn't near the forest core. Zhuge Ni couldn't figure out why an 8th-level monster would be here.

Her level had just broken through to 3, and facing an 8th-level Dragon Blood Beast was clearly beyond her abilities.

Zhuge Ni couldn't help but look back in the direction of Ye Lin. If Ye Lin had joined forces with her, they could not only kill this 8th-level Dragon Blood Beast but also retreat safely.

But when she looked back, there was no sign of Ye Lin. He had vanished without a trace.

"What a coward!"

Zhuge Ni gritted her teeth. The slightly improved impression of Ye Lin instantly plummeted.

It was clear that Ye Lin had fled the moment the Dragon Blood Beast appeared, abandoning her.

The Dragon Blood Beast attacked Zhuge Ni again, clearly seeing her as its prey. Its massive body, like a mountain, gave an extremely terrifying sense of oppression.

"Explosive Phoenix Fire!"

Zhuge Ni didn't dare to be careless and immediately released her skill. Several high-temperature fireballs condensed beside her and smashed toward the Dragon Blood Beast.

The high-temperature fireballs instantly split and burst upon hitting the Dragon Blood Beast, burning several spots on its body.

However, this level of injury couldn't stop the Dragon Blood Beast; it only enraged it further.

Its moon-like eyes turned blood red, and it struck again with a massive paw.

Zhuge Ni lifted her leg lightly to dodge, then immediately used her skill, sending a shower of phoenix fire toward the Dragon Blood Beast.

This time, the Dragon Blood Beast didn't sit idly by. It opened its enormous mouth and roared like a dragon.

Roar!

The terrifying sound waves formed a physical barrier, blocking Zhuge Ni's phoenix fire in mid-air and sending it flying back.

"What?!"

Zhuge Ni was in shock. She had no time to dodge, and the fireballs she had cast hit her squarely.

Her clothes were burned, revealing large patches of snow-white skin, almost to the point of immodesty.

But Zhuge Ni didn't have time to worry about that, staring in terror at the Dragon Blood Beast.

A single word flashed through her mind: death!

She would die!

If this continued, she would surely be eaten by this Dragon Blood Beast! It was too strong for her, a mere 2nd-level player, to handle.

Facing life and death, Zhuge Ni lost her usual composure, her face showing panic.

As she saw the Dragon Blood Beast's massive paw reaching for her, Zhuge Ni closed her eyes in resignation.

No one could save her here. It was only the first day of the novice secret realm, and this 8th-level Dragon Blood Beast was an insurmountable obstacle for everyone.

Zhuge Ni was completely desperate. She never thought that as an SSS-level profession converter, she would die in such humiliation at the hands of an 8th-level monster.

But after closing her eyes, the expected excruciating pain from the Dragon Blood Beast didn't come. Instead, a man's deep, magnetic voice came from the side.

"Hellfire Blaze the Heavens!"

Zhuge Ni, eyes closed, felt a terrifying heat wave rush past her.

The moment she opened her eyes, she was filled with shock. The scene before her was something she would remember for the rest of her life.

The Dragon Blood Beast, which she thought was invincible, was now covered in red-purple flames. Without even a scream, it was quickly burned to ashes.

An instant kill!

This 8th-level monster had been directly killed!

In front of Zhuge Ni stood a man with his back to her, his entire body burning with blood-red flames.

This figure was deeply etched into Zhuge Ni's mind, imprinted into her heart. As she looked, a hazy expression came over her eyes, and her face turned an unusual shade of red.

Hellfire!

Hellfire again!

Wasn't this man the unnamed genius she had been looking for?

Which girl doesn't dream of springtime? Which girl doesn't long for a heroic young man to appear when she's in danger, saving her from peril?

With one strike, he easily killed an 8th-level monster, in stark contrast to Ye Lin's cowardly flight.

Zhuge Ni couldn't help but marvel at the vast difference between people, sometimes greater than the gap between humans and monsters.

"Thank you for saving my life. May I ask your name?"

Zhuge Ni approached, her voice becoming very gentle, making Ye Lin almost get goosebumps. He hadn't realized this woman was so smooth.

Seeing that Ye Lin didn't speak, Zhuge Ni took another step forward, wanting to see what this man looked like, the one who could kill an 8th-level monster in one strike and had captivated her.

But to her disappointment, Ye Lin's face was covered with a black cloth, revealing only his eyes.

Ye Lin thought for a moment before speaking.

"Call me Ling Ye, the Ling from dawn, the Ye from night."
