Detective Jameson sat in the cozy living room of Emily's friend, Sarah, sipping a cup of coffee as he listened intently to her account of Emily's state of mind before her disappearance.
"Emily was stressed about work and school," Sarah said, her brow furrowed in concern. "But she was also excited about her art and design projects. She had a passion for creativity."
Jameson nodded, taking notes as Sarah spoke. "Did she mention anything unusual or out of the ordinary?" he asked.
Sarah hesitated, her eyes darting around the room. "There was one thing," she said finally. "Emily had been getting these weird messages on her phone. She wouldn't show them to me, but she seemed really spooked."
Jameson's interest piqued. "Did she describe the messages to you?" he asked.
Sarah nodded. "She said they were just random texts, but they made her feel like someone was watching her."
Jameson's gut told him that these messages could be connected to Emily's disappearance. He asked Sarah to describe Emily's behavior in the days leading up to her disappearance.
"Emily was nervous and on edge," Sarah said. "She kept looking over her shoulder, like she was worried someone was following her."
Jameson's eyes locked onto Sarah's. "Did she mention anyone specific who might be following her?" he asked.
Sarah hesitated, her voice barely above a whisper. "She mentioned Ryan's behavior was getting weird. She said he was being really possessive and controlling."
Jameson's gut told him that Ryan's alibi was worth investigating further. He thanked Sarah for her time and left her apartment, his mind racing with possibilities.
As he walked back to his car, Jameson couldn't shake the feeling that Emily's disappearance was more complex than he had initially thought. He decided to pay Ryan another visit, to ask him about the strange messages and his behavior towards Emily.
