After the fight with Chen Caixiu, Huang Kong Di quickly realized something.
Although his cultivation and Martial Spirit were powerful, when his opponents used weapons, their attack power was boosted severalfold. Even with his Hollow Hydra and newly acquired battle skills, there was still a gap in destructive power.
Kong Di was not conceited enough to believe he could reign supreme with fists alone. No matter how strong one's body was, there would always be counters in the vast expanse of the martial world. To ignore weapons was to invite disaster.
Plus, if the opponent is someone with a Martial Spirit grade the same or higher than his Martial Spirit and also has a weapon, then even with his superb regenerative capabilities, his chances of winning would decrease drastically.
So, the very next morning, he stepped into the Weapons Division of the Cosmic Star Academy.
----
His first instinct was to test the sword. After all, his mother, Huang Kong Mei, wielded her "Nine Turn Serpent Sword" with elegance and power. It was a long sword and had incredible reach and sharpness. So, his 1st choice was a long sword.
Taking up a long sword, Kong Di swung it several times, channeling his battle qi. The blade sang through the air—but his brow furrowed.
It didn't feel right.
The length was fine, but the power and lethality he was expecting were not present when he performed a few stances of his martial techniques.
He tried again with different blades: a small sword, dagger, saber, single-edged blade, and double-edged blade.
One after another, he tested them diligently. By evening, his shoulders were sore, and the ground was littered with discarded weapons.
None of them felt right; the gut feeling he was experiencing and intuition were not connecting with any of the weapons he tried today.
Sighing, Kong Di left for the day, convinced that the sword path was not his path.
He felt a little disappointed, as which young boy and child did not dream of becoming a swordsman.
The next day, there was a Flock of "Experts" near the weapon division.
As he returned to the area where they stored practice weapons, the atmosphere was different than yesterday's.
News of his previous visit had spread throughout the academy. The blacksmiths and weapon tutors of the academy crowded the division, their faces alight with greed and eagerness. Even the Vice Principal Xiong Chu and Dean Sun Zhang arrived.
The Vice Principal Xiong Chu arrived with his foolish daughter Xiong Meiqi, hoping that their relationship would mend and no negative feelings would continue. As he did not want to offend such a genius student over a minor matter.
So he was looking forward to what weapon Huang Kong Di would choose. If he chooses a War Axe, he might be able to get him under his tutorship and mend the bad relationship between his daughter and Huang Kong Di.
Dean Sun Zhang was also aware of the conflict between Hunag Kong Di and Vice Principal Xiong Chu's daughter, and understood his friend's feelings. It was hard not to worry about such a foolish daughter.
As he was thinking this, a group of Tutors rushed toward Huang Kond Di.
"Student Huang, try this saber—its explosive power suits you best!"
"No, no, a dagger! Your speed will overwhelm your enemies!"
"Don't listen to them! A double-edged Broad Sword will allow you to use both strength and defense!"
One after another, they shoved weapons toward him, each desperate to claim credit for the academy's most promising genius chose their weapon. The air was thick with anticipation.
Kong Di was stunned. He could practically see their thoughts:
"Once Hunag Kong Di picks my weapon, I'll boast for years that even a genius like him followed my path. My prestige will soar!"
He almost laughed aloud.
Still, he did not refuse. Calmly, he accepted their advice, one by one, trying the weapons with patience. After hours of testing, the result was the same—disappointment.
None of them suited his combat style.

The Long Weapons
On the third day, the crowd was even larger. Students, blacksmith apprentices, and many instructors gathered to watch. The atmosphere was like a festival.
This time, Kong Di turned toward the racks of long weapons. He hefted a heavy spear. The weight pressed against his arm, yet when he thrust it forward, his battle qi surged smoothly through the shaft and into the tip, exploding with destructive power.
His eyes narrowed. This feels different.
He tried a halberd next. The sweeping motion carried both power and suppression, resonating faintly with the aura of his Hollow Hydra. Then a trident—the force of the thrust carried an imposing dominance, like three fangs of a beast striking at once.
Compared to the control-oriented long staff, which lacked destructive power, these heavy long weapons brought out his natural ferocity. His movements felt heavier, yet more complete, as though his martial spirit itself was guiding his hands.
The murmurs of the crowd grew. Some frowned, others whispered. But none could deny the oppressive aura that radiated every time Kong Di swung the long weapons.
Still, Kong Di did not decide. He tested further—needles, inspired by Chen Caixiu's fight. Chains, bows, scythes. Even exotic weapons from far kingdoms.
But though they intrigued him, none resonated deeply.
Three more days passed like this, and by then Huang Kong Di had spent almost a week deciding which weapon to use. The blacksmith division was nearly in chaos. Apprentices scrambled to polish their finest work, instructors argued over weapon theories, and every time Kong Di entered, the entire hall froze in anticipation.
Finally, after a whole week of testing, Kong Di placed a hand on the shaft of a heavy spear. He gave it a single thrust.
The phantom of the Hollow Hydra stirred behind him, its heads opening wide, as if answering the spear's call. The aura of suppression and destruction blended seamlessly.
Kong Di smiled faintly.
"From now on, my weapon shall be the heavy spear."
The blacksmiths erupted into an uproar, their faces flushed with envy and regret. Each one shouted that if only Kong Di had used their weapon longer, he would have chosen differently.
But in his heart, Kong Di knew. The heavy spear was not chosen by greed or persuasion—it was chosen because it was calling to him.
