Watching Kai's frantic and violent actions right before his eyes, Lego was utterly terrified.
"Does this fat bastard eat people for breakfast? Is he trying to destroy humanity or something?" Lego thought, cold sweat pouring down his face.
Smoke and flames now billowed high into the starless night sky. Everywhere the truck went, cars were flipped and scattered across the road. Fires blazed everywhere, creating a scene of absolute ruin as people fled in all directions, clutching their heads in terror. Behind them, a swarm of police cruisers maintained a relentless pursuit, sirens wailing through the chaos.
Inside the truck, Lego's heart hammered against his ribs. A mixture of pure dread and a strange, surging excitement swelled within him.
It was only then that he noticed the wisps of red light. They were streaming from the back of the vehicle, constantly flowing into his body—a bizarre phenomenon that only he seemed able to see. Lego felt surges of warmth invading and spreading throughout his entire being. He could feel the raw strength within his body increasing by the second.
"Could it be… have I Awakened?" Lego mused. It seemed more than likely.
"Lego, how you feeling? Way more intense than that school scrap, right?" Kai shouted, his face still twisted in a mask of madness.
"I'm busy calculating exactly how many years of prison time I'm looking at," Lego replied with a scowl.
"Hahaha! With me around, you couldn't get into a prison cell even if you tried!"
BOOM!
A massive shockwave blasted the truck into the air. The occupants were tossed around like ragdolls, the violent jolts making Lego feel as though his internal organs were being rearranged. The bespectacled hacker was a mess of tears and snot, wailing, "Mommy, I want to go home! Wahhh!"
"You useless piece of shit!" someone snarled over the roar of the engine.
The truck flipped several times in mid-air before slamming back down onto the pavement.
CRASH!
The violent impact caused the frame of the truck to crack and groan. Everyone inside began to bleed, crimson streams trickling from their noses. Lego's head spun, and a wave of nausea hit him so hard his vision began to fade.
"Should I just surrender to stay alive?" The thought flickered through his mind.
The police, realizing the situation had escalated beyond their control, called in high-level reinforcements. Within moments, heavily armed combat vehicles roared onto the scene, their engines growling like predatory beasts. Dual exhaust pipes spat out vicious blue flames. From the roofs of the vehicles, mini-missile launchers emerged with a hiss, followed by the roar of rockets tearing through the air.
EXPLOSION!!
A golden fireball engulfed the truck, the shockwave sending it tumbling end-over-end down the road.
"Oh, not again… this damn feeling…" Lego groaned inwardly.
Inside the wreckage, blood from the crew mingled, staining their clothes and soaking into the bags of loot. At that very moment, inside Lego's loot bag, an egg the size of a fist with a rough, blackened shell began to stir. The egg was frantically absorbing the blood that had seeped into the bag. On its pitch-black surface, glowing red veins of light began to emerge, pulsing with a sinister radiance.
