Chapter 75
EPILOGUE
Five years it had spent in hiding, trying to buy time for his next plan. He had believed that he had found the one with Madara. In all the centuries he had been trying, Madara was the one who had come closest to fulfilling his dream.
He driven much like Indra himself, and would have succeeded in gathering all of the nine tailed beasts and reviving his mother, if not for one damned shinobi.
Hikari Hyuga.
A descendant of Homura, who refused to follow the tides of fate. Homura's blood ran in his veins, and allowed him to defy the workings of fate itself. He had been the one to break it, the cycle of Indra and Asura's rivalry, and he knew that as long as the boy was alive his dream would never be fulfilled.
Still, he had waited centuries for this, he could wait for another century.
Yet somehow the boy had managed to learn of his existance and had been trying to hunt him down for years since.
Five years had passed since that fateful battle where he had defeated Madara Uchiha, and the Five Great nations had been at peace since. The battle against Madara had resulted in the deaths of three kages, as the Rokudaime Hokage, Sandaime Tsucikage and the Yondaime Raikage all lost their lives to the reincarnation of Indra.
Only the Mizukage and the Kazekage survived the battle, and while there were a thousand reasons to continue the conflict, the five daimyo's came together and chose the path of peace.
Everyone saw how their mistakes had led to the creation of the Akatsuki, and how the pain caused by their wars had given rise to such hatred and suffering. The realization was damning and so a solution was sought, and to make up for the pain and suffering they had caused the five of them would come together and make amends.
It was the birth of a new era, but the way things were he just might not get an opportunity to see it bloom, as he heard footsteps from the entrance of the cave.
"You are quite a hard one to pin down, Ototsuki," and it was his voice.
"How?" he gasped, as Homura's successor walked out of the shadows.
"Because I am a fucking hound...."

TSUNADE SENJU
Five years had passed since the fateful day where she had lost the last person she had ever thought dear to her. The pain from that day still lingered in her heart, as she stood infront of his grave.
She had never thought that he would leave her alone in this world, and yet now all of them were gone and Tsunade was left all alone, like a on relic from a bygone era. It was tragic really, but to suffer was a shinobi's true calling and Tsunade Senju was a shinobi through and through.
"He would be proud today," Kakashi's voice came in from the side, and he was perhaps the only one who could understand her suffering. He was also one of the few people who had been instrumental in bringing about the very change Jiraiya had always dreamt of seeing in the world.
Peace.
That had been his dream. Similar to her own grandfather, and they had both sacrificed their lives for their dreams and now the unachievable, had been achieved.
The Five Nations had learnt from the mistakes of their past and the world today was closer to the ideal world both Jiraiya and her grandfather had hoped for than it had been years ago.
"Indeed," she answered as she finished saying her prayer and stood tall once more, and began to walk out of the cemetery.
The First Five Kage Summit had in many ways been the true end of the Warring States Era, and the meeting was meant to establish peace and prosperity yet the simple truth was that there were more than just five nations.
There were several dozen small villages, and then there was Ame and any other nations of considerable strength who then became battleground for the interests of these five powers.
These battles gave rise to conflicts, and these conflicts then turned into wars.
It was a flawed system, which saw them fight over three Great Wars and now it was time to usher in a new era.
"Are we sure about the votes?" she asked, and Kakashi nodded.
"Yes," and it had taken them five years to hash out the exact terms and conditions of this new peace, but in the end there was a collective desire to be better.
Each Nation, small or large had suffered enough from travesties of war and battle, and sought a better world for the next generation and so in the five years since the battle, Ame had been rebuilt and now as she walked through the streets of the rainy village she saw children running through them, laughing and smiling as they enjoyed true peace for the first time in their lives.
"There is simply no better choice," and unlike her grandfather's time, they had assembled together a large council of representatives from each and every shinobi village in the land here at Ame, each of whom would cast a vote to appoint the first Peacekeeper, Heiwa.
There were a total of seventy three votes to be cast, and while there were many nominations the truth was that there was but one realistic candidate to appoint.
"Do you think this will work?" she asked Kakashi as they walked through the gates of the Great Assembly.
"I can only hope so," Kakashi added.

And with that, the seventy delegates all gathered and cast their votes and the result was as they had all expected. The five daimyo sat in the centre, and announced the results in a single voice.
"With the votes cast, the first assemble comes to a close," they began as Tsunade Senju watched as a new era dawned on the shinobi world.
"With a majority of fifty three votes. This assembly appoints," and everyone held their breaths, as they made the announcement.
"...Hikari Hyuga as the Shogun of Ame!"

So, that's it. The tale of Hikari Hyuga comes to an end. I think of all my Naruto fics this one had the best fights. This one had a slow start, but I think I had a good finish.
