Chapter 5 - Weird Morning

The morning lights filtered through the window, smacking her on her soft face skin with intense heat.

She slowly got up, slightly disoriented by the day and night before. She had ended up crying a lot before she slept. Even after she had slept off, some drops of tears still slipped through her eyelids.

She used her palm to wipe her eyes, getting rid of the remaining tears that clung to her eyes. Then, with her nails, she picked out the eye dirt that stuck to the corner of both her eyes.

"How did I sleep off?" She yawned, stretching her body in opposite directions as her bones aligned.

'What's with this throbbing headache'

Her head pounded loudly inside her skull, reverberating the echo throughout her head region, causing her neck to also ache.

She twisted her neck to the sides, and the sounds of her neck bones realigning echoed in the room as she relieved herself of the pain on her neck.

With her hands, she slowly massaged her temples, trying to reduce the throbbing ache that made her think less. It was almost like her brain was about to burst.

'Where did I keep those painkillers!' She glanced around her room, still sitting on the desk by the window.

"I can't believe I actually slept off crying. What made me cry that much?"

Her memories were blurry due to the throbbing ache, but slight moments slipped through, and she could recall some thoughts, especially about what caused her tears.

'Right..it was because of everything dad said.' She sighed, rising to her feet and walking up to the drawer she remembered keeping the painkillers.

"I last remember keeping it here" she murmured to herself as she slid the drawer open, it was filled with different types of medications, most of which she didn't know of or didn't remember keeping there.

She began searching through the packets of pills, looking for the exact painkillers she remembered dropping inside.

"There it is!" She exclaimed immediately when she saw them, her headache limiting her happiness.

She glanced at the drawer close to her bed and saw a glass jug filled with water she normally filled up for night emergencies when she needed to drink water but was too lazy to go down the stairs.

With the pills in her hands, she walked to the drawer and sat on her bed, making herself comfortable enough before she picked up the empty glass cup sitting beside the jug.

She poured water inside, filling up half of the cup before she placed the jug back on the drawer.

She placed the cup beside the jug, then hurriedly opened up the packet and slipped out a single painkiller pill before setting the packet down on the drawer.

She picked up the cup and held it firmly before she placed the pill on her tongue and washed it down with the cup of water.

After she drank it, she brought out her tongue, her face sour from the taste of the pill. She wasn't much of a fan of medicines, but she couldn't help it because of the throbbing headache.

So it was either that or ignore her preferences and take a pill that will help her with reducing the headache.

"Now I remember why I hate drugs so much, bleehh!!!" She nearly spat out, but she was in her room, not a toilet.

She poured in another glass of water and immediately drank it, trying to wash off the taste of the pill, but it only seemed to make it worse.

At that, she stood up, briefly staring at the clock that sat on the small drawer and noticing the time.

[8:54 am]

'8.54 am...' She sighed, then turned back with a jolt of shock.

"8:54 am?!!" She screamed, "Shit, I overslept, and we're meant to come early today for an important speech!"

She didn't waste any second she started pulling off her clothes one by one, ignoring her body features this time.

She moved by the window to grab something important she might need before heading into the bathroom. That's when she noticed her eyes were bloodshot red.

It was as though she was bleeding inside her eyes. The colour was dark. She stood there standing in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection.

"Damn, this is going to be noticeable, but it should clean off soon enough,"

She didn't have time to start thinking of ways to whiten her eyes because she was already late.

She rushed into the bathroom without much thought on it, but during her bath, she focused on rinsing her eyes with water to help cool off the colour.

When she was done, she slipped out of the bathroom wet. She didn't even bother cleaning her body properly before she started putting on her clothes, skipping the occasional makeup before she left.

As she was done, she picked up her school bag she left by the chair close to the window and left the room.

She hurried down the stairs, skipping the stairs in two's until she reached the ground floor.

She glanced at the kitchen and saw her family all eating together. Her father briefly raised his head and noticed her.

But before he could say anything, she rushed out of the house without saying anything either.

'I haven't forgotten what you said to me, and I won't forgive you so easily!'

She arrived at the school grounds the moment everyone was heading inside after the morning assembly.

She glanced and saw her friends chuckling together, and they exchanged words while moving into their classrooms.

She hurried and caught up to them as they all moved in.

"Guys!" She called out as she ran after them.

They all turned at the sound of her voice, their expressions changing at the sight of her.

"Lily? What's wrong with your eyes?!" Leyla asked as she took a step back.

"Relax, Leyla, it's nothing serious. They're just from the headache I got this morning,"

Leyla glanced at the others for a while before she turned back to Lily.

"Okay, if you say so," she said casually.

Lily sighed as they all went into their classroom.

As they settled down on their seats, they continued with their conversation. Leyla started out with a loud convincing word that could drag anyone who loved gossip in.

"You wouldn't believe it, guys!" She announced loudly to her friends.

"What happened?!" They all responded in unison, now curious about what she was about to say.

"Well, the results from Lira's guild came, and guess what? I passed!!"

Lily turned at the sound of it all, her expression darkening.
