Belle's POV
I couldn't get Declan's words out of my head.
"It's done. Yes, I have it. No, she doesn't know."
The way he said it quick, clipped, almost cold played over and over in my mind like a broken record. He hadn't seen me standing just a few feet away when he made that call. He had no idea I'd caught even a piece of it. But I had. And now it disturbed me.
I tried to tell myself it could've been anything ,just a normal call, something routine for work. But I wasn't a fool. Declan had a look in his eye that didn't belong in the face of someone who was simply managing numbers or following orders. It was the look of a man holding a secret.
And if there was one thing I'd learned in this life, it was that secrets always come with a price.
