Kira wasn't in the mood to listen to his theatrics. She closed the curtains of her window and climbed into bed, completely ignoring him.
She overheard Pascal say, "Don't worry, I'll try my best to find out their identities."
Kira muttered, "Thank you," before drifting into a deep sleep. When she woke up at dawn, she quickly prepared for school. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she stepped outside.
Mrs. Samuels called after her, "If some men in suits approach you, don't say anything."
Kira nodded, smiling faintly at her mother's warning. Then she headed out, her face now cold and serious. She had already realized that the men who had visited her father earlier weren't willing to give up easily.
At the bus stop, she waited for the school bus. When it arrived, she got on and took her seat before the driver sped off.
Upon arriving at school, she saw Davies preparing for a basketball game.
"I'll come by your place later," he said, smiling.
Kira furrowed her brows thoughtfully, then suddenly grinned. "What do you want me to do for you?"
Startled by her question, Davies's lips curled in realization—Kira wasn't naive.
"Be my mate," he replied.
Kira looked at him seriously. For a moment, Davies panicked, fearing she'd reject him. But then she simply nodded and said, "I agree," before turning and walking away.
Kira found Sophia sitting alone in the classroom, visibly upset.
"What's wrong, my little wife?" Kira asked softly, her tone calm.
Sophia pouted, her annoyance evident. She retorted unhappily, "Can you stop calling me 'little wife'?"
Kira gently patted her head, a confident smile on her face. "That's impossible. I just can't."
Sophia stopped arguing, frustration flickering across her face. Her eyelids drooped, and she fidgeted with her fingers before sighing. "The boy I've been crushing on now has a girlfriend. I feel so hurt, Kira. I thought he'd approach me, but he told me he sees me as his sister. I'm heartbroken."
Kira watched silently as tears welled up in Sophia's eyes, her expression unreadable. Then, with a sneer, she said, "It's just a boy. You can find another one. Boys are easy to come by—you can have as many as you want. Why cry over just one?"
Hearing this, Sophia's lips twitched slightly, realizing she'd confided in someone who didn't truly understand her pain.
"Not everyone is like you," Sophia retorted, pouting. "You get whatever you want. Do you really think good guys are everywhere, so casually available?"
Kira was momentarily puzzled. She responded casually, "You're limiting your options—that's why."
Frustrated, Sophia stood up abruptly. "Talking to you is pointless," she snapped, then turned and stormed out of the classroom.
Kira watched her go without trying to stop her, shrugging nonchalantly. To her, Sophia's reaction seemed overly dramatic, as if her problems were insignificant.
She sank back into her seat, flipping through her books. Meanwhile, Clifford entered the classroom after everyone else had left—most had gone to watch the basketball game on campus.
Kira was the only one inside. She looked up coldly. "What do you want?" she asked sharply, irritation bubbling beneath her tone. Clifford wasn't acting like his usual shy, cool self. Ever since she learned he was an alpha, she'd developed a dislike for him she couldn't quite explain.
Clifford stood silently in the doorway, adjusting his glasses, lips pressed tightly together, refusing to speak.
Kira looked away, returning her focus to her books.
After a moment, Clifford finally broke the silence. "Are you angry because I told you that you shouldn't have done that?"
Kira glared at him, sneering. "Who the hell do you think you are, trying to tell me what I should or shouldn't do?"
Clifford fell silent, studying her. Then, in a calmer tone, he warned, "One day, you'll regret this…"
Kira snapped, her voice rising in anger. "Get lost!"
Seeing her transformation, Clifford immediately ceased his provocation. He softened his tone. "You're right. I was wrong."
Kira took a deep breath, her face contorting with pain. Clifford watched her closely, then spoke quietly. "The full moon's coming soon. Do you have a pack house to hide in? Why don't you come to mine?"
Her eyes narrowed in irritation. "Keep your charity to yourself. Just get the hell out of here."
Clifford hesitated, then turned and walked out. As he reached the door, he glanced back and said in a deep voice, "Whenever you're ready, let me know."
Kira narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. She picked up her schoolbag and headed in search of Sophia. Spotting her in a corner, wailing softly, Kira's lips twitched in slight annoyance. Without hesitation, she walked up to her.
"Show me the boy," Kira demanded impatiently.
Sophia looked up in confusion, her voice trembling as she blurted out, "Um..."
Before she could finish, Kira reached out and gently but firmly pulled her to her feet. Her tone remained firm. "Take me to the guy who's been making you cry all day."
Sophia hesitated, her eyes wide with surprise. She stammered, "What do you plan to do?"
Kira didn't answer. She simply started walking, pulling Sophia along. The girl grumbled softly in protest. "Kira, do you think this is a good idea? I— I..."
Nervousness and anxiety flickered across Sophia's face, but Kira paid no mind. She glanced around the courtyard until her gaze settled on a boy talking to a group of friends.
She led Sophia over. When Sophia saw the boy, she shyly hid her face, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. Kira noticed her reaction and her lips twitched, curious about what was making her so uneasy.
"Is it him?" Kira asked, her voice steady.
The group of boys glanced at Kira and Sophia, confused. Sophia was trembling with embarrassment, while Kira remained calm and unruffled.
"Yeah, it's him," Sophia whispered softly.
