Chapter 303 - Infinite Series: Persistence

Everything is back to normal.

The spirit of existence.

White Ring Legion.

Barry in a running pose.

And Clark and others.

"Barry, get ready!" Wayne took a deep breath and made up his mind.

"Barry?" Seeing Barry's distraught and unresponsive look, Wayne was full of doubts in the mental connection.

"It's no use." Barry passed the answer back to Wayne.

"It's useless? Have you tried it?" Wayne was stunned at first. When he wanted to say something, he thought of something and asked Barry for confirmation with a serious expression.

"I've traveled through time many times, but I ran into him every time. He drove me back." Barry was filled with despair: "He locked our timeline. I don't know how he did it, but he did it. He took over all the futures and bundled them into one."

"Right now?" Everyone present was in a mental connection and heard the conversation between Wayne and Barry. Looking in the direction of Thanos, even those who had always had hope in their hearts were under tremendous pressure.

There is no doubt that the other party's choice of this timeline means the follow-up of this timeline: the other party's goal has been achieved and their obstruction has failed.

Even though everyone felt a surge of immense power, they were still clearly aware of their current weakness. They had reached their limit.

The universe is blocked.

The timeline is locked.

The seal is completely ineffective.

Fight? That was also a long and hopeless choice.

The worst part was that even if they chose to fight, they would be powerless to prevent the invasion they would face in the near future.

In this case, is there really any point in fighting?

Everyone felt confused for a moment.

"Are you not going to struggle or resist?" Sensitively sensing the enemy's low morale, Thanos chose not to attack, as if he hadn't just snuffed out their hope and brought them despair. He even flew over a distant meteorite, fashioning it into a spacious chair, and sat down right in front of Clark and the others.

"We will fight until the last moment." Wayne gave his answer.

"I really envy you." Thanos smiled and said with emotion as he saw Wayne and the others rising up again with a tragic and desperate morale.

"Envy?" Wayne and the others realized that something was amiss with Thanos. The fierce, violent, and unmatched enemy seemed to have vanished, replaced by a fading figure who seemed to have lost all desires, with only a few memories remaining. They couldn't even understand his words.

What do they have to envy?

Do you envy their struggles, failures, and deaths?

"You can choose to resist and fight. Isn't that something to be envied? Don't look at me as if you are facing a great enemy. My mission has been accomplished. What happens next has nothing to do with me. I just want to enjoy this moment of tranquility." Thanos said calmly.

Clark and the others suddenly sensed sincerity in Thanos' tone. He truly envied them. Envied these losers!

"He's coming?" After a moment of silence, Wayne asked Thanos.

"Yes, he might be coming, but he might not be," Thanos said, raising eyebrows. He truly seemed to be indifferent, like a hungry man who has been fed, a thirsty man who has been quenched by a drink of water, their longings satisfied. His sharp edge receded, his demeanor calmed.

"Are you envious of us because we can resist you, but you can't resist Luke?" Wayne, wearing the White Ring, had sensed the seven forces of the universe converging and sending some kind of energy signal outward. They were no longer able to stop the beacons from operating. He only wanted to get more information about Luke from Thanos.

"Isn't it sad? I can defeat you, but I can't resist Luke. I am just a creation. A clone made based on the original. I was given a mission that cannot be refused, and was stuffed into this core." Thanos said, tearing open his chest with his glove, revealing a core in his chest that was beating like a heart.

"Perseverance, an advanced application technology of psychic energy." As if he just wanted to confide, Thanos pointed to his own heart under the horrified gaze of Wayne and the others. There was a circle of energy on his chest that was corroding his flesh and blood, pulling and competing with his own self-healing ability, making the wound in his chest unable to heal.

"Luke extracted my obsession and used the energy he created to craft this heart. Based on its emotional attributes, he named it the Heart of Perseverance. It is strong, resilient, and possesses incredible power. Luke set a mission for me within this heart.

This mission has become my obsession!

Who can resist their obsession? Only when their obsession is satisfied, will it be satisfied. Before that, it will push you to do whatever it takes to achieve your obsession, regardless of the cost!

Even more inexplicable is its tenacity, even more stubborn than hope itself. As long as the obsession is not satisfied, the executor will never stop, and will never die.

The psychic glove, which gathers the energy of the emotional spectrum, is a heavy burden. I have been able to hold on until now because my perseverance is forcibly maintaining the balance between life and power. Now that this heart has been satisfied, it no longer bears those burdens for me.

Thanos spoke, reaching out to remove the psychic gauntlet from his hand, as if this powerful artifact were an ordinary glove, and tossed it under his seat. He breathed a long sigh of relief, crossed his arms, and leaned back against the high-backed chair made of meteorite, his eyes slightly narrowed, like a serene old man in his twilight years, lying by the fire.

"You can't resist Luke?" Hal and the others felt even more depressed after listening to Thanos's confession. If even a powerful being like Thanos couldn't resist Luke, do they really have a future?

"To be precise, I can't resist my obsession. And my obsession comes from the mission Luke set for me. I won't apologize to you, nor will I give you any advice. That would be too cruel to you.

I just want to enjoy this moment of peace that belongs only to me in the last moment of my life. We may meet again in the future, but that will no longer be the me now. "

Thanos' voice grew fainter, as if he were about to fall into a deep sleep. His body was shattered by some force, transforming into tiny dots of light like fireflies, leaving only his beating, determined heart.

A bright and dazzling light burst out from the heart of persistence, like the Big Bang of the universe. Everyone lost their sight, hearing, touch, and consciousness in the torrent of energy.

By the time they finally regained their ability to think, Thanos and his heart had completely disappeared, leaving only the psychic glove that had lost all its luster and the lamp beast, lying alone in the void next to the seat.

Wayne and his companions were sensitive to the presence of something new in the universe, but they couldn't pinpoint what it was. Their hearts felt somewhat empty, unsure of what emotions to express to their masters.
