Chapter 284 - Beacon Tower

"He's been missing for ten days." Hal Jordan looked at the special radar in the base with some worry.

Rogers knew exactly who he was talking about. The man with the yellow light had disappeared for a full ten days since that day. They all knew he hadn't left, but they simply couldn't find any trace of him.

"Where's Mr. Wayne?" Hal turned to look at the captain. "He's been in his lab for seven days. Do we really not need to go see him?"

"Bruce is a very smart and powerful person. We can't help him much with the issue of technological upgrades. What we can do now is to trust him and maintain the situation as much as possible before he comes out," said Rogers.

"Okay, but I think we might need some reinforcements or something." Hal looked hesitant. "Although this may make you and Mr. Wayne unhappy, I think the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps will be a great help to us if we pass the message on."

"Strictly speaking, I have no right to get involved in your affairs as long as you can convince Wayne. But if things are so bad that even we can't solve it, then I don't think he will stop you." Rogers seemed indifferent to Hal leaking the news, but as he said, in these matters, his identity made it difficult for him to do anything other than make some suggestions.

"Steve is right. If we can't defeat the man with the yellow light by our own strength, I won't refuse to seek external help." Wayne's voice suddenly sounded.

"Oh my God, what is this?" Rogers and Hal, with a look of surprise on their faces, turned their heads to look at the source of the sound, only to see Bruce Wayne wearing a new bat suit, standing quietly behind them.

"The Mind Bat Suit. It was made based on my research on your energy." Wayne lifted his visor, revealing his face with bloodshot eyes but still calm.

"Wait, didn't you go to update and upgrade the radar?" Hal shook his head, a little confused.

"I have installed the new radar module. I just need to connect it to the power source and input the new supporting algorithm to run it." Wayne stepped forward, inserted a storage disk into the corresponding interface, and then started typing on the keyboard.

"I updated and upgraded some functions. It is more sensitive and has a higher success rate in scanning inert mental energy. It can also be displayed in different categories according to different energy properties. This helps us know in advance what kind of energy wearers and objects we need to face." Wayne presented the new scanning data interface to Hal and Rogers.

"It also connects with those high-priority energy collection devices, allowing for certain data sharing. Judging from the past few days, the collection of fear power has dropped drastically. This is abnormal. I'm more inclined to believe that there's another energy collection device, not under our control but with a high priority, that's absorbing this fear power."

After Wayne finished speaking, he looked at Hal and the other man.

"It's the man with the yellow light! He wields the power of fear." Hal and Rogers, who had fought Sinestro before, reaffirmed this. It was clear that the man hadn't been causing trouble in the past few days because he was busy absorbing and fighting for the power of fear.

"Our collection devices distributed in various areas of Gotham are obviously regarded as energy nodes by the other party. There is a large amount of energy that has not been transmitted back. Judging from the data information, the disappearance of energy is regular. The other party will not let go of any energy node." Wayne said softly, looking at a line graph connected according to the time when the power of fear passed.

"So, they're bound to find us?" Hal Jordan instinctively glanced at the ground beneath his feet. He hadn't forgotten that beneath his feet lay the largest energy collection center, a power source like the core of the energy system. If Wayne was right, then the man with the yellow light was bound to find us.

Unless the other party is willing to give up this largest and most abundant energy core node.

Will the other party give up?

Hal thought not.

The captain and Bruce also thought it would not happen.

"I'm going to restart the radar." Wayne turned off the radar, updated the new data information and assembled the modules, and waited until they were loaded, tested and tested before officially starting it again.

As time went by, the radar screen, which had previously been sparsely dotted with scattered points of light, was instantly filled with spots of light of all sizes. If one were to follow the previous judgment, then each point of light represented a problem.

Wayne's fingers tapped quickly and intensively on the keyboard, as if his outer armor couldn't hinder his finger flexibility. He was eliminating useless data and making precise searches.

A moment later, the screen was filled with spots of light, reduced to a sparse dozen or so. Most of these were locations where the collection devices were located. After removing the inactive ones, the screen instantly displayed a spot of light extremely close to them.

Bruce called over several pocket drones, and before they were shot down and lost their signal, only a flash of yellow, jumping, refracted light could be seen.

"Has he gotten so close to us? But it seems he hasn't found us yet." Hal recognized the owner of the light with his sharp eyes. It was a familiar figure with an unrevealed face and a yellow uniform that was blurred in the shadows.

"It's just a matter of time. The other party found us based on the transfer of energy. Just like a wild beast chasing us by smell, we can't expect to hide here for long." Bruce said.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go out and deal with him." Hal pulled Rogers' shoulder.

"I'll go with you." Wayne looked up.

"But..." Hal hesitated, as if he was afraid that what he said would hurt Wayne.

"Why do you think I made this equipment?" Wayne's helmet fell off, revealing a somewhat ferocious-looking bat helmet. Under Hal's expression of seeing a ghost, the outer layer of the suit shone with the same golden light as the captain's.

"It seems we have been discovered."

Looking at the downed pocket drones, Sinestro gripped the yellow lamp holder and grinned.

The yellow lantern, held in Sinestro's palm, vibrated twice, as if a monster was impatiently trying to escape. Sinestro suppressed the vibrations and spoke soothingly, "Don't be like this! I'm giving you a large amount of fear to devour. You should just listen to me! Just lend me your power. The more powerful the better. I've thoroughly studied those interesting devices these days. They're very sophisticated, but they don't even have any protection against technology leaks."

This should be the node where the power of fear is most concentrated. As long as we find it and absorb it, we can leave here and promote this device throughout the universe. Just think about it, by then, the entire universe will no longer be able to stop us! We can take revenge on those high-ranking guardians."

With Sinestro's comfort, the yellow lantern furnace finally fell silent again.

"Them again?"

Sinestro suddenly saw three beams of light, two yellow and one green, flying towards him. When the beams stopped above him, they revealed two faces he remembered vividly, and a stranger wrapped in an iron armor.

"It seems I've found the right place! Hand over your energy. If you're willing to serve me and join my Yellow Lantern Corps, I'll let you manage this planet. You'll just need to regularly hand over a certain amount of fear power to me. What do you think of my proposal?" Sinestro shouted fearlessly, even with an additional opponent. The energy he'd absorbed these days was quite refined, and according to the responses from the Lantern Beasts, this fear power was slightly different from what he knew, and even more magical.

"There are three of us." Hal shrugged and took the lead, swinging a huge green fist.

"Your power is still so weak, no, it has become even weaker! Has the current Green Lantern Corps even recruited a character like you?" Sinestro swung his arm wrapped in yellow energy like a knife, easily defeating Hal's green fist. He was suspended in mid-air with boiling energy all over his body, and said sarcastically.

A circular shield was thrown out by the captain as a weapon, hitting Sinestro's arms, which were crossed in front of him. The intersecting energy points formed a solid energy shield, blocking the captain's attack.

"I don't know how you collected that energy, but I have to say, it's exactly what I want. Let me show you my new power!" Sinestro raised the yellow lantern in his hand.

"The day is dark and the night is bright. Evildoers and traitors fear my divine light. They are afraid of the fire and burial. Those who oppose me will perish. Fear is the source of the Sai family's authority!"

The oath of the yellow lantern came out of Sinestro's mouth like a ballad, and the yellow light in the lamp suddenly became brighter, like sunlight, rendering the surrounding area with a yellow luster.

Under the illumination of the yellow lantern furnace, Hal felt that the power in his body was rapidly fading, as if he had encountered some natural enemy. The energy glow shining on the green lantern ring completely dimmed.

In just a blink of an eye, Hal experienced the unpleasant sensation of his body being completely drained of energy. Worse still, without the green light energy supply, he plummeted straight down.

The feeling of weightlessness reminded him of his deepest fear, and his fear instantly amplified the surrounding fear. Under the influence of fear, Hal couldn't even maintain his composure. His mind was completely blank from the shock of terror, and he fell without even the thought of calling for help.

As Hal neared the ground, he woke up from his fear, and as he faced the deeper fear of death, his body was suddenly enveloped by a warm energy. This energy, with a golden glow and like sunlight, dispelled his fear and gave him strength again.

"Are you okay?" The captain who rescued Hal looked at Hal who was wrapped in the energy he separated, and asked while pulling him to his side.

"I'm fine, this is amazing! Your energy can be given to others?" Hal Jordan asked in surprise, feeling his current condition with some amazement.

"Courage is contagious. I want to thank you for building your trust in me." The captain separated his own energy and infused it into Hal's Green Lantern ring. The Green Lantern accepted the captain's separated power without reservation. Under Hal's astonished gaze, the emerald-green ring was actually stained with a hint of yellow.

"We can't fight him in the yellow light area. Not only will our energy be consumed extremely quickly, but our attacks will also be greatly weakened. This is not good for us." Seeing that Hal was fine, the captain immediately said to him and Bruce.

"Don't worry, as you said, fear and courage are twins, and there is no absolute winner between them. Well, take away Hal's ring." Wayne's voice sounded calmly. Under Hal's gaze, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets, the core energy on the chest of the Mind Bat burst out a lot of warm yellow light like a yellow lantern furnace.

If the light from the lantern furnace felt chilly, the light radiated from the Soul Bat suit was like warm sunlight, dispelling the chill within. Even more peculiar, as lights within the same color spectrum, the fusion of the two was almost natural, without much hindrance.

"No!" Sinestro sensitively felt that the strength that had been increased before had dropped again. The field of fear he controlled seemed to be mixed with other energies, and the two neutralized and offset each other.

No, the opponent's energy even has a tendency to spread towards his energy core.

Sinestro couldn't help but look at the stranger clad in black armor. He marveled at the other's tenacity of will and strength of mind. He could even face the power of the Yellow Lantern Furnace and still resist it, even possessing the strength to resist it in return.

Although the lamp beast inside the lamp furnace was not released, it was able to resist the energy of the lamp furnace on its own, which was worthy of praise and admiration. In his opinion, this mysterious stranger was more suitable to be a Green Lantern Messenger than Hal.

Of course, Sinestro was unwilling to be suppressed. He communicated with the lamp beast of the lamp furnace and once again stimulated the power of the lamp furnace. He did not believe that the other party could match the energy accumulation of the lamp beast. He even used the shaping power similar to yellow light and green light to process one energy collection device after another in the void, brutally absorbing all the fear power of this city and planet.

The device nodes spread outward like a wave, bringing Sinestro a steady stream of fear energy. Mixed with the power of the Yellow Lantern Beast, he regained the upper hand on the field.

Unbeknownst to Sinestro, the energy generated by the arrangement of numerous device nodes formed a virtual invisible beacon tower.
