"In other words, the captain was lost in another universe?"
Nick Fury hurried over. Hearing the news from Luke, a wave of frustration settled in his chest. While the captain and he occasionally disagreed, they still worked well together. Furthermore, with the official leader missing, how would he explain this to the Council?
The captain went on a business trip to another universe, saved a world, but when he came back, he got lost due to some accidents?
"Obviously." Strange sat in his chair, waving his hands in the air. He was also surprised. This was the first time he had seen Luke's skills appear in such an unexpected situation.
"Can we get it back?" Nick asked subconsciously. There was no other way. The captain couldn't give up, and the sooner he got it back, the better. He didn't want to get caught up in any more trouble.
"It's a bit difficult. We don't know which universe he is currently in. According to Mephisto and others, the multiverse is too vast and no one can truly grasp it all. If there are no coordinates, then the search is like looking for a needle in a haystack." Luke, who always responds to requests, had to give Nick a disappointing answer this time.
"Wait, where's the ring? According to the updated third edition of the ring's manual, the ring the captain wears should have a coordinate function after the upgrade, right? I remember that you specially set up an updated emergency module in order to explore the universe. I remember there were some other miscellaneous things on it." Nick suddenly thought of some descriptions about the ring in his mind, and he hurriedly asked Luke for confirmation.
"The ring does have a coordinate function, which allows us to determine the captain's location. But that is limited to our single universe. If it is in other universes, these functional modules can still take effect, but the effect is uncertain. After all, I have almost spread [beacons] all over this single universe, and they are the base stations for communication. But other universes are not yet connected to the data dimension. So the captain should only be able to play single-player now." Luke patiently explained to Nick in a way that is as easy to understand as possible.
"In other words, we have to be prepared to completely lose the captain?" When Nick said this, he felt even more depressed.
"That depends on the cosmic environment the captain is in. If it's not much different from our universe, he can also save himself with the function of the ring." Luke gave an answer that shocked Nick.
Nick stared at Luke with his single eye, an expression that said he wanted to explain in detail.
"Most of the Avengers' rings have some storage functions to deal with some troubles. Among them are some of the technologies of Hebron and Stark. And the construction methods of the [Psychic Base Station]. If the captain strengthens the signal, then we may be able to quickly determine his coordinates." Luke gave a simple and easy-to-understand answer.
"What a terrible day!" Nick rubbed his forehead. He had already begun to imagine how overwhelmed he would be when he returned, facing all the questioning from the board of directors.
And he had to find a way to stabilize them and the situation. There was no doubt that Luke told him this news, obviously wanting him to maintain the situation for a certain period of time.
Nick was already considering whether to tell a few lies, one true and one false, or to reveal the truth and let the situation completely collapse.
"If all else fails, we can ask the captain from another universe to come and help. The intelligent system has already penetrated deeply into the government system. With your help, the captain from another universe can still remain undetected for a long time.
If you agree, I'll start preparing a custom ring of the same style for the new captain, and then bring it along with Tony when we bring him back." Luke came up with an idea.
Although this idea sounded like a very unreliable and bad idea, Nick was actually tempted for a moment when he thought about the minor troubles he would face in the future.
"It sounds like they lost a person and then found a clone to take his place. It sounds a bit scary." Strange blinked and expressed his personal opinion.
He felt that even his own self in another universe was different from him. Furthermore, whether this was appropriate, and whether it would cause any unknown trouble, were matters he needed to consider as the Supreme Sorcerer. This was also one of his responsibilities.
"We need to make decisions in an emergency," Nick added, but he hadn't made a decision yet. Even though the hope was a little slim, he still hoped that the captain could be found by the time he took this step.
When Nick left in a hurry, Luke, Strange and others had to face another trouble.
"By the way, what are you going to do with me?" The uninvited guest named America Chavez looked at Luke and Strange nervously.
"This is not something I should be in charge of. I am responsible for finding the captain, and you are responsible for dealing with this trouble. We will divide the work and cooperate with each other." Luke gave Strange a tentative look.
Admittedly, Luke was very tempted by the other party's abilities of multi-dimensional teleportation and repairing cosmic rifts, but after drawing a tube of blood, he no longer cared whether the other party was in his hands or not.
Anyway, as long as we are still in this universe, it doesn't matter where the other person is.
Strange opened his mouth, intending to refuse. He had a ton of responsibilities on his plate right now, but seeing the strange look Chavez gave him, he nodded, struck by some intuition, and accepted the supervisory responsibility. After all, if he did find the Captain, he might need her help. He couldn't just let her go.
"I don't want to follow him." Chavez looked at Strange with disdain. While refusing, he looked at Luke and asked, "Can I stay with you?"
"I'm afraid that won't work. I don't have the time to watch over you." Luke shook his head. He didn't have much personal time, and he had to split some of it between Ina and Little Becky. He didn't bother to act as a supervisor, even if he could delegate that task to his construct.
Rude and Venom said: We already have a little Becky, so having a bigger kid won't make a difference.
But he always felt that handing the other party over to Strange's management was the best way to deal with it.
Chavez was about to say something when he was whisked away by a rotating portal. As Strange followed him through the new portal, he turned back and reminded Luke, "If you have any news about the captain, please notify us internally."
…
The stars in the sky were sparsely lit, and the wind carried a moist scent before the rain.
Inside an abandoned factory.
A group of people are making a deal.
"Here's what you want." A fierce-looking man pointed to a pile of metal instruments behind him. "They're expensive. Where's the money you brought?"
A sturdy man emerged from the shadows opposite the man. He was dressed in a tight-fitting suit, holding a round shield in one hand, with only his chin visible beneath his hood. The man silently placed the box he was carrying in his other hand on the middle table. As he and his men watched, the box opened, revealing neatly stacked stacks of cash.
"Boss, this guy seems to have just robbed our organization's money." Seeing the other party's figure exposed in the light, one of the men next to the man pointed the muzzle of the gun in his hand at the sturdy man opposite in fear.
"Did I rob you of your money? I'm sorry." The sturdy man also heard the conversation on the other side. He raised his empty hand high and apologized in a very sincere tone.
"Damn it!" The fierce man immediately pulled out his weapon and aimed at the sturdy man opposite him with his men. However, the sturdy man on the opposite side reacted faster than them. As soon as they pulled out their guns, the man's figure disappeared into the darkness.
Then, a round shield, bumping left and right in the somewhat complicated environment of the abandoned factory, attacked the group of people.
